I Never Thought There'd Be You

“Thank you, Josh…” I said, wiping a tear from my eye. “You don’t know how much this means to me.”
“Anytime, Amy. Really. I’m always here for you, no matter what.”
I smiled. “How did you know I was lying?” I asked him.
“Lori got married, remember? I was there, Amy.” He laughed.
I laughed too. “Oh yeah, I forgot…”
“Plus, you’re a terrible liar.”
“Am not!”
“Are to!”
“Am not!”
“Are to!”
“Am not!”
We both stopped and laughed. He hugged me again.
“So, I was just about to go to dinner, you wanna come?” He asked.
“I’d love to! But I left my wallet at home.” I said, stuffing my hands in my pockets.
“I’ll pay.”
“No, Josh, don’t.”
“I just want to be a gentleman.”
‘Josh-“
“Amy, come on. Just let me buy you dinner this one time.” He looked at me with puppy-dog eyes.
“You know I can’t say no to those puppy eyes.” I laughed.
“Why do you think I’m using them?! Pleaseee. Don’t make me quiver my bottom lip.”
“Lil’ Pouty Joshie.” I laughed.
“Lil’ Pouty Joshie wants to take Amy out to dinner!”
“Okay, fine.” I said.
“Good.” He grabbed his wallet and we walked out to his car.
“Let’s go.”
