Seeing Double

Playing Cards

Justin’s POV

I rang the doorbell on the twin’s house, before taking a few steps back. I stood on the front porch with my hands inside of my pockets. I waited a little while before I came over. I knew that they would be doing homework.

The door opened, revealing a smiling Heaven. I noticed that she had changed out of her school uniform into an outfit that was more her. Heaven was the twin that didn’t mind showing skin or wearing bright colors.

“Justin!!” she cheerfully yelled. She threw her arms around my neck in a tight embrace.

Heaven Pro #2: She’s always excited to see Me.

Honestly, I feel like this reason is self explanatory. Anytime someone you’re in love with is excited to see you, it becomes a good thing.

I laughed before placing my arms around her waist. I picked her up and spun her around, causing her to make a cheerful squeal.

“Justin!!” she giggled.

I set her down on her feet as she continued to giggle. A large smile was playing against her lips as she stared up at me.

Heaven Pro #1: Her amazing smile.

I’ll admit that one of my favorite things about Heaven is her smile. Her smile is just like her personality, friendly and cheerful. Her smile is simply contagious. It’s almost impossible not to smile at the sight of it. A nice smile has always been something that I loved about a girl, so I wasn’t surprised that this was the main thing that I liked about her.

She motioned for me to come in, before shutting the door behind me. She then closed the door before turning around to face me, a smile still playing against her lips. She shifted her weight onto her right leg as she placed her hand on her hip.

She opened her mouth to speak but was interrupted by a voice upstairs. I instantly recognized the voice as her mothers.

“Cielo, no se olvide que usted todavía tiene la tarea de matemáticas hasta el final,”

A groan escaped her lips as she closed her eyes. “Esta bien mama,”

She started walking towards the stairs. She walked up a few before she turned around to face me. “Neveah’s in the extra room, well Baby’s room. I’m sure she can entertain you for a while,”

I smiled once more, before jogging up the stairs after her. I quickly walked down the hallway, until I reached the room. I continued to smile as I leaned against the doorway, watching her with interest.

She was lying on the floor in front of Baby, playing cards. From the looks of things, it appeared that she was playing, Blackjack. The cards were lying in front of Baby, Neveah was the dealer. There was also a stack of money sitting next to Baby.

Neveah Pro #4: She always finds a way to entertain herself.

Neveah’s not the type of girl who is fine with simply watching a movie together, everyday. She loves changing her routine. Anytime that she’s bored, she’s going to find a way to entertain herself. Not only that, but she’s not afraid to try something new, as long as it’s not risky.

“Alright Baby, hit or freeze?” she questioned.

I watched in humor as Baby looked down at his cards. He tapped the cards in front of him with his paw, signaling that he wanted a hit. Neveah flipped a card onto top of his deck. She told him the he went over, a small smile playing against her lips. A soft whine came from Baby as he lay down on the floor, covering his face with his paws. I couldn’t help but to laugh at how adorable Baby was.

“Well, hello to you too then,” she spoke.

I pushed myself off the doorframe before walking into the room. I took a seat down on the floor next to her, in front of Baby. She turned her hat so that it was facing backwards, before she sat up, folding her legs in the process.

Before I could speak, Baby ran over to me. She quickly jumped into my lap, as she stuck her tongue out of her mouth. Neveah and I both laughed, before I started to pet Baby.

“Ever since the day we met, Baby’s loved you,” Neveah shook her head as she continued to watch me pet Baby.

“Well Baby is the coolest dog that I’ve ever met, so I love her too,” I replied. My gaze then fell on the pile of money that was sitting next to. The pile wasn’t large in size, but there were mostly tens and twenties in the pile.

“He’s the richest too,” I laughed.

Neveah simply rolled her eyes. “Well any money that Baby, earns or earned, Baby gets to keep. That way she buys her own, food, treats, leashes, anything she needs really,”

I stared at her in disbelief. I blinked a few times, before flipping my hair. I couldn’t stop the smile that was permanently etched onto my face.

“He has a job? What does he do?” I questioned.

She shrugged her shoulders, before picked up the money. “Well,” she began “Back in Puerto Rico, when we first got Baby, I was bored. So I taught him a few tricks just to entertain myself. Some way or another, I noticed that everyone who saw some of the tricks that I taught Baby loved them,”

“So I basically started renting Baby out, per say. Retirement homes and sometimes hospitals would pay me to come for a few hours, and have Baby keep them company. I liked it so much that I decided to keep doing it. Then I began to go to children’s hospitals for free along with the paying jobs,”

“Anyway, I split the money with Baby, so that I didn’t have to spend mine on any of her supplies. And that’s a little history about me and Baby’s old job,”

Neveah Pro#3: How caring yet resourceful she is.

Neveah is easily one of the most caring people that I have ever met. Over the short time that I’ve known her, I noticed that she would give anything to help someone else. I’ve seen her, use the last of the money that she had in her pocket to buy a homeless person some McDonalds. Seeing her so caring and giving makes me smile. It’s rare to come across people that like anymore. It’s a trait that I admire about her dearly.

“Vay that’s really—”

“Don’t say it,” she interrupted. She looked away from me, as she began to shuffle the cards that were in her hand.

“It’s not that big a deal, besides it’s embarrassing to hear people gush about something,”

Neveah Pro#2: Her modesty

Modesty was also a rare trait in people today that Neveah, happened to poses. Everyone loves modesty; it’s simply appealing to everyone. Anyone can be one over with modesty.

“Awe, is little Vay is embarrassed,” I joked. Honestly, I didn’t want this moment with her to be awkward. If she didn’t want to talk about it right now, it was perfectly fine with me.

She playfully glared at me, as she locked her gaze with mine. I returned the gesture, as we stared at each other. Soon a smile crossed her face. She began to hold her stomach as she started to laugh. I laughed as well, not being able to resist her contagious laughter. Once her laughter died down, she locked her gaze with mine.

Neveah Pro#1: Her amazing eyes

I’ve always loved her eyes. I love how it’s hard to place exactly what color her eyes are. They’re somewhere between chestnut and honey brown, so I can’t quite call them brown. Not to mention, I love how her eyes seem to sparkle whenever she smiles or laughs. Her eyes are so simple yet amazing. A person can’t help but to love them.

“Alright Bieber,” her voice brought me out of the temporary trance that I was in. “I hope you brought some cash, because I’m ready to get paid,”

I laughed as I picked up Baby. I set him down next to me, as I scooted closer towards her. “Psh, please. I hope you’re ready to borrow money from Baby,”

She started to deal the cards as she shook her head. I spent a while with Neveah, simply playing cards. Heaven had to finish her homework, so she couldn’t join us. The time was spent joking around and simply having fun. There wasn’t a dull moment between us the entire time.

Yet in the back of my mind, the current list was replaying itself in my mind.
