Seeing Double

Pain in my chest

Heaven and I walked back to her house, flirting during the entire walk. She was analogous to me when it came to flirting. She could take a simple statement and change it into something flirtatious. It was a talent that we both possessed. Neither of us were ashamed to admit it either. It was almost like a challenge. A challenge to see which of us would cave first, similar to the game nervous.

A flirtatious giggle slipped past her lips as we walked up the steps to her porch. She pulled the key out of her pocket and unlocked the door. She cracked open the door before turning around to face me. “You want to go upstairs or downstairs?” she questioned. A suggestive glint shone in her eyes as she smirked.

I copied her smirk as I took a step closer. “I’d take you anywhere,” my voice was low as I leaned close to her.

Her smirk grew wider as she stared at me. “Save it for the house babe,” she giggled.

She opened the door and walked inside, swaying her hips. I chuckled as I closed the door behind me. Things just seemed to be getting better and better for me. I loved a flirtatious girl and this was defiantly heaven.

Maybe Heaven was the girl that I needed to be with. At the moment, her list was longer than Neveah’s, so there were more things that I liked about her. Maybe I should stop making the list. Picking Heaven seemed to be a smart decision. I had been enjoying every moment that I’ve had with her so far. Maybe I had made up my choice.

I followed Heaven into the kitchen, watching her hips sway as she walked. She looked at me over her shoulder noticing that I was staring. She smirked as she continued to look at me. “Enjoying the view?”

“More than you know,” I licked my lips as I gave her a suggestive look.

She giggled once more as we walked into the kitchen. It was then that I noticed someone was standing in the kitchen. What surprised me the most was that it wasn’t Neveah.

It was a boy who seemed to be around my age or older. He seemed to be average size and slightly. He had light blue eyes, from what I could see, and light brown hair. His hair was almost styled the same way as mine. His went to the right and had small differences here and there.

His back was pressed against the counter with one hand holding the edge. His other hand was holding his phone as he looked down at it. He was so distracted that he didn’t notice Heaven and I walk into the room.

“Austin,” Heaven spoke as she stopped walking. “When did you get here?”

Austin looked up from his phone and sent her a small smile. He finished texting before he slid his phone into his pocket. “Not too long ago actually,”

“Oh…okay. Well I didn’t know that you were coming over today,”

“To be honest, I didn’t either,”

“Well then how did you get here?”

I stood behind Heaven awkwardly as I watched them converse. I felt like the third wheel. I was standing in the same room as them and it was as if I didn’t exist. I hadn’t felt this way in a long time. Usually when I was in a room, I couldn’t get someone to ignore me if I paid them. Heaven and Austin were ignoring me as if I was no one to them.

“Alright I’m all changed—” I turned around finding myself staring at Neveah.

I subconsciously found myself looking her over. She wasn’t wearing anything revealing, or anything to fancy. She was dressed causal with a basketball under her arm. Her hair was pulled back into a high ponytail causing her to have a preppy look to her. Despite how casual she was dressed she still looked gorgeous to me.

Neveah Pro #6: Gorgeous without trying

Her eyes landed on me as she smiled. Her eyes lit up just as they always did when she smiled. “Hey Justin” she cheerfully spoke. “I didn’t know that you were coming over today,”

I couldn’t help but to laugh. “It seems like no one around here ever knows when someone’s coming over,”

“I’m starting to think the same thing man,” Austin spoke.

I didn’t want to admit it, but I ignored his comment. I wasn’t really a fan of Austin at this point. I didn’t hate him, and I didn’t dislike him, I just wasn’t a fan of him. There was something about him that I didn’t like. Somehow I knew that it was related to how easily he got heaven to ignore me.

“Oh right you guys haven’t met,” Neveah spoke. “Austin this is Justin, Justin this is Austin, my latest victim,”

I nodded at Austin and received one in return. Austin then set his gaze on Neveah and smiled. “I’m your victim huh?” he questioned. “Last time I checked I had to lose first to be a victim,”

“I can’t help it if I can predict the future baby,”

As the word passed her lips, I froze. Things began to play in slow motion before my eyes. A sharp pain hit my chest in an instant. It felt as if someone was stabbing me with a knife repeatedly in my chest. My breath caught in my throat as the word replayed itself over again in my head.

Heaven noticed the change in my appearance. She walked over to me and nudged my shoulder. I was brought back to reality but the pain in my chest didn’t stop any less. It was growing more intense by the second.

“Baby?” Austin questioned, a smirk dancing across his lips.

Neveah nodded her head in response as she adjusted the ball under her arm. “Mhm, baby,” hearing her repeated d the word caused just as much pain as the first time she said it.

“Baby because that’s what you’re going to sound like when I beat you and everyone in school hears that you lost to a girl,”

I silently let out a breath of relief as I listened to her explanation. The pain in my chest immediately stopped. I felt myself slowly returning to normal. I couldn’t believe how I reacted to hearing something as simple as that. She only called someone else her baby and I stopped breathing.

Neveah Pro #5: My heart knows that it wants her

“Ha ha very funny. Too bad I’m gonna’ have to wipe that smirk off your face,” he responded.

She laughed as she grabbed the ball from under her arm and held it in her hand. “I’m going to miss that cocky attitude of yours. Now let’s go. I’m ready to kick your butt,”

Austin playfully glared at Neveah. She stuck her tongue out at him mockingly in response. He started running towards her causing her to laugh as she ran away from him. “We’ll be back later you guys,” she called, her voice echoing through the house. I could hear the sound of her laughter and his footsteps through the house. The sound of the door closing told me that they were gone.

A small pain in my chest appeared for a second before it disappeared. I knew that I still had to make the list. I still wanted Neveah.
