All For You, My Daisy

Ellie - I never want to do another back hand spring

When I reached the locker room, I couldn’t help but notice that the girls have already been in here. Clothes were spread out everywhere. I looked at my cell phone.
4:55
The time that I get out there It will be 5:00 so I’m not late. What was going on?
I tore off my clothes and slid into my cheerleading outfit. It was very small. I couldn’t help but feel a little slutty. The skirt flared out so I had to wear the little shorts that came with it. The colors were red black and white.
I flipped down my long wavy brown hair and pinned it up in a high pony tail.
I felt like a cheerleader.
Truth is, I was a cheerleader.
I mean, I was competitive. Went around the glove with my squad. We were really good.
And then... I stopped.

Walking out side I saw the whole team stretching and practising little cheers.
Joining them I started shifting my weight on between both of my feet.
Crystal looked back at me, and hit some of the other girls arms to look at me.

“Your late.” She sneered.

“No, you said-“

“No excuses!” She yelled. I squinted my eyes and shook my head. What was she trying to pull?
“Practise always starts at three thirty. I told you that today.” She crossed her arms looking me over. I began to practice my back hand springs. I was better than I thought. Some of the girls were organizing there selves in a pyramid when Crystal interrupted again. “Anyways we’re practicing some cheers today.” She said walking in front of the team.
“REPEAT AFTER ME! Tigers fight, tigers roar, with all our might score, score, score.” She yelled.
So that cheer pretty much sucked. The whole team recited it after her. Yep, It sounded just as suckish as the first time.

“Crystal, I don’t mean to offend you or anything, but can we practise some routines?” One of the girls piped up.

“SHUT UP! I was getting to that. The coach made me the captain for a reason.” She smiled.
Another girl rose her hand. She looked so cute and adorable. She was short and tiny, with long red hair.

“Actually the coach made me the captain.” She whispered.

“SHUT UP!” Crystal yelled again balling her hands up in a fist. Now I could see why her and Nate went out for so long. Crystal looked at me with anger in her eyes. Now what did I do?
“WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT!? PRACTICE YOUR BACK HAND SPRINGS!” She yelled.
Doing so, I began to do it again, and again.
“HIGHER! FASTER!” She kept calling out. I did as I was told. I wanted to prove her wrong in a way. She thinks she can bully me in front of the whole team? Think again. She got fed up with me and turned her attention back to the squad.
“With an attitude like this girl, no one would make it far in life.” She called out.
What in hell did she have against me? Holy, crap. It’s not like me and Nate had anything going on. “YOU SUCK ELLIE! DO YOU HEAR ME!? YOU SUCK!” She screamed. I stumbled back, stepping on the wrong part of my ankle. It hurt so badly.
“UGH! I CAN’T DO THIS!” I yelled dropping my pompoms. I limped off to the change rooms. I could hear Crystal snickering outside.
I can’t stand this. I wish I could just go home. I wish everything was back to normal. I took off all of my cheerleader things and slipped on my tank top and root track pants I had packed before.
I stuffed my cheer clothes into my gym bag and threw it over my shoulder unwrapping my hair with my other hand while I did it.
My ankle felt like poop, and only more tears streamed out.
I walked out of the change room only to see Nate come my way.
I knew he wouldn’t want to talk to me, so I decided to keep on walking.

“Oh shut up.” I heard those words slip out of his mouth. Was he talking to me? I stopped walking and turned to him.

“Excuse me?” I sniffed.
“If you don’t like it here so much, why don’t you just go back to wherever the heck you came from?”He sneered. Why was he saying this? I knew he was mad at me for some reason, but I never knew he was this mad. It was only making it worse. “MY life was totally fine before you showed up.” He said before turning back around. I cried even harder. If he only knew what my life was like before coming here. I would give anything to go back. These thoughts only made me cry louder. It hurt so bad. I’m not even talking about my foot anymore. His words stung like a million bees. “Just do me a favour and disappear.” He called out. I wish. I thought.

I heard a door slam and footsteps running towards me.
Matt was out of breath before he reached me.
“Have you seen Nate?” He panted in front of me. They obviously had a tough football try out.
I nodded my head trying to muffle my cries.
He looked up at me and concern washed over his face.
“Oh no. He didn’t say anything to you, did he?”

I nodded my head before my cries slid out my mouth.

“I would hug you, but I’m afraid I stink really bad.” He laughed trying to loosen me up. I nodded my head smiling, rubbing the tears away from my eyes.

“Do you have a locker mate?” I managed to squeeze out.
