Sorrow's Story
Princess
He looked at me shocked.
“There is no way in hell I’m staying here,” he said stubbornly.
“Why? Are you too stupid to?” I mocked.
“No, it’s just that I don’t know how to be ‘homeless,’” he defended.
“Exactly, you don’t know, but that doesn’t mean you’re stupid. I don’t know how to do math nor do I know how to read,” I told him, “It doesn’t mean I’m stupid.”
He bit his lip and scrunched his eyebrows together.
“And if you do accept my challenge, I will tell you my name. And if you succeed I will tell you the meaning behind it and how I got to be homeless. Do we have a deal?” I offered my hand.
“How long?” he crossed his arms over his chest.
“A week?” I bargained.
He sighed in defeat and shook my hand closing the deal.
“Fine. Now what’s your name?”
“Sorrow,” I answered.
“What kind of name is that?” he laughed.
“It’s my name,” I shrugged, “Now give me your cell phone and wallet.”
“How do I know you’re not going to steal it?” he asked.
“I don’t steal, Nathan. I never have and never will,” I promised him.
“Fine here,” he handed me his wallet.
“Cell phone?” I questioned.
“Let me call Olivia.”
I rolled my eyes and sighed as I put the wallet in my backpack.
I could hear him talking to a woman over the phone, but quickly stopped listening not wanting to invade his privacy.
He hung up and handed me the phone which I quickly turned off and put it into my bag with his wallet.
“Oh yeah and check you’re other pocket,” I told him and he reached into his pants pocket and pulled out the fifty dollar he had tried to give me earlier.
“How-,” he started.
“You will never know,” I commented and snatched the bill out of his hand and put it in my backpack.
He frowned at me.
“So where am I supposed to sleep?” he asked.
I gestured to the cement floor.
“I refuse to sleep in filth,” He stated like a child.
“We’ll sorry princess we’re not exactly in luxury,” I smirked and lied down using my arm as a pillow.
I heard Nathan huff and saw from the corner of my eyes see him sit down in defeat.
I smiled slightly and drifted off to sleep.
