These Lines Were Never Established

Chapter Forty

“Lyn-z!!!” Hayley cheered. Travis turned at the little girls scream. She was halfway over his shoulder before he could comprehend what was going on. “Lyn-z!!!” She cheered again.

Travis managed a nervous smile at the woman.

“Hi.” He choked out nervously.

“Lyn-z dis is Daddy! Daddy dis Lyn-z!” Hayley waved her hands between the two people as she wiggled in Travis’s grip.

“Hi.” Lyn-z smiled at the two. “Good luck tonight Travis.” She added passing him. “I’ll see you later!” She poked Hayley in the nose playfully. Travis gave a nervous smile to the retreating woman.

“Aw! Why she w’eave?” Hayley pouted.

“Cause she’s got things she’s gotta do just like us.” Travis stated as he continued on his way. Hayley pouted. “She and mommy are hanging out later and mommy said she’s taking you with her.” Hayley cheered wildly at the idea. She began to bounce in his grasp and swung Tito around.

Travis often forgot she was still only three with how she talked and presented herself in most instances. Yet the rest of the time he couldn’t help but laugh at how childish she actually was, and how much she acted her age.

“Stay right here.” Travis pointed before turning to the man with a clipboard. Filling it out and handed it back and picked Hayley back up. “What did Gigi say about sucking your thumb?” He asked the little girl who had her finger curled around her nose and her thumb stuck in her mouth. She simply shrugged and looked around over his shoulder.

Groaning Travis handed the little girl over to Jolene without a problem. Smiling he gave a thumbs up, turned and left. She’d been a terrorist all day long and he was enjoying the fact that he could now pawn her off onto her ‘mother’ and go relax and sleep before his event.

Hayley watched as he walked away a bit confused before her eyes moved up to Jolene staring after him just as confused.

“You were a pain today weren’t you?” Jolene asked slowly. Turning her gaze down to the little girl Hayley gave a big shrug.

“Eyes no hurt. No pains.” Hayley stated not understanding what ‘being’ a pain meant. She’d taken it as being ‘in’ pain. Jolene laughed and headed down the hallway.

Hayley couldn’t help but make noses as if she were flying a plain through a large tunnel.

Jolene covered her face as she sat in the hotel room. Hayley was being a little terrorist. Hayley screamed dramatically as she purposely feel off a bed, holding her face, Tito on the other end of the bed holding Jolene’s blow dryer.

“Umm…” Jolene looked up at Lyn-Z entering the room.

“Don’t ask. I don’t…” Hayley yelled something in gibberish as she lunged over the bed, tackling Tito to the ground. With a whine she sat up rubbing the spot where he face had meet carpet rather roughly. “Yeah.” Jolene laughed as it only took a few moments for Hayley to be wrestling with the stuffed animal once she was done inspecting her face and over the carpet burn that was on the end of her nose.

“She’s a little bundle of energy isn’t she?” Lyn-Z laughed.

Hayley sat up at the voice and squealed. Running to the woman she hugged her legs as she spoke too quickly in gibberish. Lyn-Z laughed as the little girl as she picked her up. Nodding quickly at Hayley’s quick words and arm movements she laughed.

“Okay….”Lyn-z muttered once she realized Hayley hadn’t paused for breath again, she was waiting on a reply.

“Otay?” Hayley asked confused. “Otay?...Otay!” She shrugged happily after a moment. Looking around she began messing with Lyn-Z’s necklaces. “Des peety.” She added gently.

“Travis actually handed her over with a smile. Which never happens. He doesn’t like handing over his little bird to anyone.” Jolene mumbled as Lyn-z tried to get Hayley to stop playing with her necklaces. “Meaning she’s been like this all day.”

“Well that’s okay. I mean it’s better than her being all quiet and scared like how I met her.” Lyn-z laughed as Hayley used some of her brown hair to make a muscatel and look at Jolene with a raised brow.

“True, but…this is the calm version of her terrorist acts. Just wait. She’ll get worse.”

“So? She’s three.”

“And she’s a pain in my butt.”

“Yer butts hurt?” Hayley asked confused. “Yews get checked! No good!” She added, wiggling to get down. Lyn-z complained as watched as Hayley growled and began attacking Tito again. “I say sowwie! Jeez!” She complained to the tiger after a long bout of gibberish.

Lyn-z and Jolene watched as the rest of the female portion of the athletic community tried to tame Hayley’s wild antics. It was quite amusing for the two of them, especially Jolene who knew Hayley better than all of them. They were just adding fuel to the fire on the little girl’s wild parade.

“This is fun.” Lyn-z snickered.

“You have no idea.” Jolene laughed gently. As Hayley wiggled and squirmed to get away Patterson who was trying to hold Hayley still long enough that the child would become calm. It was a lost cause. Only Travis had that mighty touch, if it happened to be a good day.

“Why is she so hyper?!” Half of them groaned. Hayley was ruining their calm, relaxing girls day together.

“She’d always like this.” Jolene laughed as Hayley flipped into her lap and them into Lyn-Z and stopped as she hit her head on the wall. “Always.” Jolene began checking Hayley’s head and getting swatted at Jolene’s hands irritated.

“It fine!” Hayley groaned. Struggling she rolled off of Lyn-Z and onto the floor away from Jolene’s prying hands. Giggling she ran off across the room, and stuck her tongue out. “Eyes tols yew is fine!” She added.

“What did I say about gloating?” Jolene growled. Hayley’s little shoulders dropped and her head tipped back.

“Eye sowiee!” She grunted with a huff. Looking back at Jolene she frowned. “Eyes says Eyes sowwie!”

“You didn’t mean it.”

“Yes eyes did!” Hayley protested.

“Did you?” Jolene countered. She knew how to work Hayley.

“Yes!” Hayley placed her hands on her hips and glared back. Jolene smiled.

“You need to stop hanging around Gigi.” Jolene muttered gently.

“Eye w’ikes Gigi!” Hayley huffed. Then she began looking around and ran into the bathroom with a giggled. Climbing into the tub she laughed loudly. She like dhte tub when it was empty. Everything echoed. Making noises she began dancing in the empty tub.

Jolene’s eyes went wide as Lyn-Z began to laugh, camera out to film Hayley.

“She’s in the tub.” Lyn-Z giggled.

“She’s what?” Jolene jumped up and rushed across the room. “Bath…” Hayley heard the simple word and rolled out of the tub and out of the bathroom as fast as she could.

Hiding behind the far bed she peered over it at Lyn-Z and Jolene cautiously. She didn’t have a lot of room to run or to hide. She was not taking a bath. They couldn’t make her! The evil witches! She could take them! As long as they didn’t bring in the giant. He always won. She had yet to find his weakness.

“Damn.” Jolene whispered. “For once she’s in the tub by freewill and I wasn’t quick enough to bathe her.”

“What she doesn’t like baths?” Lyn-Z giggled replaying the video of Hayley making noises and dancing.

“Not at all.” Jolene grumbled.

“Eye no bathe!” Hayley yelled. Crawling under the bed and into the dark cave she moved herself to the middle watching for the evil ones. Tito crawled alongside her ready to fight them off with her. He had a sword all she had was flashlight. She was no use in a fight but she knew Tito would defend her.

“I’m not going to make you bathe!” Jolene huffed.

“Oh…” Hayley looked around. “Eyes no falls for tick!” She added quickly. It wasn’t the first time the witch has tricked her!

Throwing her arms up Jolene rolled her eyes and waved a hand at the bed. There was no need to fight with the toddler. If she wanted to stay under the bed all day, she could stay under the bed all day.

The girls had twenty minutes of peace to paint their nails and start on doing their hair. Then Hayley reappeared, many of the woman simply frowned at the toddler holding her stuffed tiger around the neck and close to her chest.

“Eye hungie.” She whispered sadly. She could hear her own stomach. Gigi always was upset when Hayley didn’t ask for a snack or something to eat right away. She was nervous the rest of them would be just the same.

“Here.” Lyn-Z stood up one of the few who was done. “I’ll take her.” Jolene thanked her as blonde was setting in her hair. “Come on Little bird let’s get you feed.” Hayley held her arms up with a nervous look and let Lyn-Z pick her up.
