Silent Angel Crashes Through the Sky

Chapter 13

When I got back to the house, only Patrick and Joe had returned. It was about three o'clock in the morning, about two hours of nighttime left. They were both in the living room, sitting on the couches, looking a little solemn. I frowned.

"Well, what happened?" Patrick shrugged.

"Nothing." I scrunched my eyebrows.

"So, then..."

"No one we talked to is willing to help us." No one spoke. I relaxed my face, walking to a chair and sitting down.

"I got one guy," I said finally. "I know I got one guy. He's going to talk to his friends and that might add up to five total. Two are vampires. If that means anything..." Patrick nodded. Joe seemed to zone out, staring into space. Patrick's expression was also relatively vacant. "You guys okay?" They both looked at me slowly. They nodded.

I turned my eyes away from them and towards the window. My blood ran cold when I saw two shadows on the lawn. I stood up, running to the window. The boys watched me.

"What?" Joe asked. I cupped my hands around my eyes, squinting in the dark.

"There's someone out there." They both stood up, too, coming to the window. I moved away, letting them look. We all gave each other an understanding look. Patrick reached under the couch and retrieved one of his inventions, and Joe and I wielded stakes and holy water. We rushed out the door, meeting the two familiar figures in front of the steps. I got goose bumps as I stared into their dark red eyes.

"Good morning," William and Brendon removed their hats, bowing respectfully to me. It was obvious that Brendon didn't want to. He was following William. They put their hats back on, synchronized. We all stared each other down. Brendon winked at me and I glared and gnashed my teeth together. "We don't have much time."

"Fuck off, William," Joe growled out. "We're not going to tell you again. You have one chance to turn around and leave."

"Or you'll be ash before you know it," I spoke coldly, trying to match Joe's tone.

"My, my. How rude." William's mouth twitched into a frown. "We're just here for a talk. Not a fight." He looked at us with disdain.

"Well, if they want a fight, William, maybe we could give it to them." Brendon's eyes never left mine. I scoffed, and looked anywhere else. William looked at him coolly out of the corner of his eyes, not turning to face him.

"Hush, Brendon."

"Yeah, Brendon, hush." I snapped. William looked at me with frustration.

"Goodness, Clark, you're so much like your brother. Don't encourage him. He's just here for the what-ifs. This is about you and me." I stared into his cold eyes, and gulped, suddenly feeling nervous. He smiled lightly. "I would very much like to talk to you alone, Clark. No tricks. Just a little privacy." I rolled my eyes, faking a little confidence.

"Well, you can't come in, if that's what you want." His smile grew. "Anything you have to say to me, you can say in front of them." I crossed my arms tightly across my chest. William's smile gave me chills. He drew in a slow, steady breath.

"I can't lift the curse, my dear." I gulped again.

"So it is you?" His smile turned into a smirk.

"I can't lift it." I pointed a finger at him angrily.

"But, it is you!" He nodded.

"Because I don't want you to leave."

"Why not?" He sighed lightly.

"Are you sure you don't want to go somewhere quiet? This would be much easier between the two of us." He looked deep into my eyes, and suddenly I felt more confident and trusting. More relaxed. I nodded.

"Of course." He smiled and held out his arm, which I took slowly.

"Whoa, Clark-" I cut Patrick off.

"I'll be fine guys. Just wait here." I spoke with little emotion, lost in William's eyes. They tried to follow, but Brendon held up his arms in front of them, shaking his head with a smirk. I followed William mindlessly. I noticed Joe shove Brendon out of his way, but stay put.

William led me to the side of the house, stopping at the shed. Patrick, Joe, and Brendon could still see us from there, but they would not hear us.

Although, of course, Brendon was probably able to anyway because he was a fucking vampire.

It felt like I was hit with a splash of cold water when William touched my shoulder. I blinked and gasped, startled, and batted his hand away. I pointed at him angrily.

"Hey! Did you just put me under a fucking trance?" He sighed and rolled his eyes up to the sky.

"How else would I have been able to talk to you privately?" I was about to yell at him again, but he cut me off. "I really don't have that much time, my dear," he said impatiently. "The sun will be up soon and I know your brother will be returning any minute now. I am sure he won't treat me as kindly as you have.

"I cannot lift the curse. At least, not yet." He started moving toward me more, but I backed up, not wanting to give him the chance to touch me. I avoided his eyes this time, not wanting to risk hypnosis again. "You know, the very first time I saw you, I thought you were beautiful." I rolled my eyes. "You might not think so, but it's true. It's a very rare beauty, Clark." My back suddenly hit the shed. I tried to slide to the side, but he was too close. "I've seen your beauty before. I lost it once, but, Clark, I will not lose it again." He reached out to me, trying to touch my hair, but I slapped his hand away again with a snarl and a glare. "Although, I do wish you wouldn't cut your hair. It's not very lady-like, my dear."

I finally couldn't take his voice anymore. I curled up my fist and aimed for his stomach. He caught my hand before I was able to hit him, and pulled me to him. He held tightly, his hands gripping my wrists tightly as I struggled.

"Let me go!" He smiled, moving his face closer.

"Never," he whispered.

"Let her go!" I heard Patrick shout from the other side of the lawn. I couldn't see them, but I was sure they had started fighting. I struggled as hard as I could against William.

"What the fuck do you want, vampire?" His lips brushed my ear. I tried to head but him, but he was able to hold my arms in one hand, gripping them against his chest, and use his free hand to hold onto my chin, keeping my head in place.

"I want the world." I kept struggling. "But, for now, I can settle for you." He backed his head away. His face held a dirty smirk, and his eyes were so red they gave me chills. His grip grew tighter. "My dear, I will give you a choice. You can either submit and your friends will live, or you can submit and your friends will die. Either way, you're going to be mine. I'm just nice enough to let you choose. You know I could take care of that pesky brother of yours. You know, the one you've vowed to kill for the past three years?" He shrugged. "Your choice, of course." He suddenly sniffed the air. "Ah, speak of the devil." He glanced over his shoulder, and turned around, pulling me with him and holding me in front of him like a shield. Pete stood a couple feet away holding a stake and a terribly angry expression. Andy was fighting Brendon, aiding Joe and Patrick. They weren't winning.

"Let her go, William." William laughed.

"Goodness, if I hear that one more time I promise I never will." He moved his head to my neck, burying his face into my skin and breathing slowly. I shuddered and kept trying to struggle away.

"I'll break your fucking neck, you bastard. I'll kill you. Stake you. You'll be ashes," I started growling to him. He moaned lightly.

"Hm, keep talking, Clark. Your blood gets so hot" I noticed Pete grip the stake tighter. He started to move forward, but William stopped him. "Nah-ah-ah, Pete. Bad idea when I'm holding all the cards." He breathed deeply again. "God, I want to taste you." He started to open his mouth, his cold breath breezing across my skin, giving me goose bumps.

"Stop. Stop, William." I felt him smile.

"What if I said no?"

"Then so would I." He sighed into my neck.

"You can say no all you want, my dear. It won't do you any good." I let out a slow breath.

"You and I both know that's not true." He smiled wider, moving his head up my neck to my jaw. His lips left a ghost-like trail on my skin, cold and tingly.

"Hm, you're right." He lifted his lips to my ear again. "Don't forget me," he whispered. He took his head away, craning his neck to see around Pete. "Brendon!" And, with that, he threw me away and was gone in a flash along with Brendon. I looked around, feeling tired, and for the first time in a while, scared.

"We're so screwed," Pete muttered. I closed my eyes really tight.

Yes. We are.
