Love Shows When It's There

Jack's POV

Sex with Alex was better than I had imagined. Of course, I had to be gentle with him, but I wasn't against that at all. He wasn't as fragile as before though. He was lying asleep beside me afterwards and I couldn't help but admire his beautiful face for all it was. Every feature defined. He slept soundly for the first night in what felt like forever. I pulled the cover over us as the front door opened and closed again. I heard a set of footsteps coming upstairs and another go into the kitchen. There was a soft knock on our door.

"Come in," I said softly.
"Hey Man." Matt appeared in the door way. He looked over at Alex who was still sound asleep. "How is he?"
"He seems to be getting better. We... y'know..." I told him. I could tell Matt anything.
"How did you manage that?" Matt asked softly.
"He instigated it. It was all on him. I think he's getting better, Matt. I think he's finally getting better," I said, looking over at Alex again. He rolled over slightly and curled up in a ball, humming contently as a small smile fleeted his lips. "This is the first sleep since the incident that he's not had a nightmare."
"How long's he been out?" Matt asked.
"About an hour and a half, unbroken as well."
"He really is getting better. Vinny's making lunch, do you want any?" he asked me.
"Nahh. I'm gonna stay here until Alex wakes up. Thanks though," I replied.
"Okay man. I'm glad he's getting better," Matt replied, looking at Alex and smiling softly. He stood up to leave the room.

"Matt?" I called over softly.
"Yeah?" he replied. I beckoned him back over.
"How're you holding up?" I asked.
"I'm better. I've been seeing this Therapist, Taylor. She's been helping me. I'm barely having nightmares, I feel safer. I'm really getting better too. Vinny's glad of it. I know he acts as though all he cares about is me being okay and he stays strong for me, but he's breaking seeing me break. I'm gonna be strong for him now. Jack. Don't lie to me. How are you feeling?" he replied.
"Honestly? Angry, scared, helpless, worried. Really really worried," I replied.
"Vinny's the same Jack. Talk to him. You could find condolence in each other," he replied before patting my shoulder and leaving.

I looked back round at Alex to be met by his gorgeous dark eyes, fleeted with concern.
"How much of that did you hear?" I asked him, worried.
