Every realationship brings dificulty
Aaliyah’s POV
“CJ?” I questioned the figure.
“AC.” He smiled
“ what?....how did you?....” I stuttered
“ you gave me a key remember.” He said holding up his keys
“ righttt!” I remembered “ hey sweetie!” I hugged my little brother
“ That’s better.” He smiled
The “figure” was my little brother, Curtis jr. but we just call him CJ. He was 16, so he was 6 years younger than I was. He’s like any teenage boy, plays football and basketball, he wants to go pro, but I stressed to him how important it was for him to go to college.
“How’d you get here?” I asked
“caught the train.” He said like it was nothing “ where’s Ti-Ti?” he questioned
“ she just went to sleep.” I told him, I looked next to him and there was a duffle bag on the floor
“ listen uh…Aaliyah….can I stay with you for a little while?” he asked “ me and mom been fighting a lot lately and I just need to get away for a little bit.” He added
“ what you and mom been fighting ‘bout?” I wondered
“ pointless crap. I think she’s going thru the change.” He whispered making me laugh
“ I don’t think that’s Ma’s reason for arguing with you, but you know you can stay here CJ.” I said patting his cheek. “ I don’t have another room for you, you can sleep in Tiana’s room.” I offered
“ I don’t think I want to be surrounded by princess and the frog and just straight up pink. I’ll take the couch.” He said motioning towards the living room.
CJ is a joker. Anything serious he can make you laugh about it. because of that, he’s really good at cheering people up.
CJ and I watched TV together and it reminded me of old times. When we were younger, we were close even though there was a big age gap. Of course we had our stupid fights where he’d be like ‘ mom and dad don’t love you’ and I’d be like ‘ your adopted, your real family didn’t want you’. not making fun of children who are adopted but that’s what our fights we like. And when he got older, he started getting physical. So we’d be rolling on the hallway floor fighting. It didn’t matter that I was a teenage girl and he was only 10 we still fought. Now we just laugh at it.
“I’m going to bed.” I declared “ Night Curtis.” I said kissing his forehead
“night Leah.” He called as I walked to my room.
Changing into my pajamas, I got into bed and fell into a blissful sleep.
***NEXT MORNING***
I woke up around 10. Well more like Tiana was up and ran into my room.
“MOMMY! MOMMY WAKE UP!” she said jumping up and down on my queen sized mattress
“ I’m up.” I groaned sitting up
“Good morning mommy!” she smiled
“ morning baby.” I replied sleepily, getting out the bed “ go get dressed baby.” I directed
She skipped out the room. To my surprise, she chose black sweatpants and a plain white shirt. I smiled at my daughter.
“ look at you getting dressed on your own now.” I smiled at her kissing her forehead and walking out into the kitchen with her.
“ Princess Tiana.” CJ called. Tiana’s face lit up as she ran into the living room.
She returned in CJ’s arms. He was walking around in sweats, a wife beater and his doorag on.
“morning Curtis.” I said
“ morning AC. What’s for breakfast?” he asked
“ there’s pancakes and waffles in the freezer, and fruit in the fridge. I’m not cooking today.” I told him
He nodded “ alright.” He replied, still holding Tiana.
I left the kitchen and went into the living room. as I was about to sit down, the door bell rang.
“ I got it!” CJ called
“ thanks hun!’ I called back.
Michael’s POV
The whole crew was standing outside of Aaliyah’s apartment. At first it was just going to be Nicki and me but they said they wanted to come. I wonder how Aaliyah would react to us all showing up here. Nicki knocked on the door again
A boy, with just a wife beater and sweatpants on, holding Tiana opened the door
“ uh, can I help you?” he asked
“Hi auntie Nicki!” Tiana waved excitedly
“ wait a minute?” he stared “ Onika?!” he yelled
“ CJ?” she asked equally as confused as the boy nodded “ damn you grew up!” she smiled hugging him.
“CJ who is it?” Aaliyah called
“Onika.” He stated looking at us “ and a few people I don’t know.” He added honestly
“ let them in.” she directed.
The boy moved and we all walked in. Aaliyah’s apartment was small, but nice decorated.
“ hey Nicki.” She said hugging Nicki “ Hi Michael.” She smiled at me, hugging me
I got lost in her short embrace. “ I didn’t know all you were coming.” She admitted
“Young Money likes to surprise people.” Birdman stated from the back
Aaliyah laughed her beautiful laugh and greeted everyone.
“Where’s breakfast?” Aubrey joked
“ in the freezer.” Aaliyah laughed.
I laughed at her lame joke. She looked at me and smiled. We all moved into her living room, some sitting on the couch, some on the floor and some standing. I made sure to sit next to Aaliyah.
“ you guys this is my brother CJ.” Aaliyah introduced us.
“ hey.” CJ said. We all greeted him back as he went to go talk to Twist and Chuckee.
We just chilled for a while at Aaliyah’s house. And I was enjoying every minute of it.
Aaliyah’s POV
I looked over and Nicki, who was sitting against the wall flirting with Aubrey.
“ Nicki, we needa talk.” I said pulling her out the room
“what?” she asked concerned
“ you and Aubrey all flirting and everything.” I smirked
She blushed ‘ oh. that.” she said raising her
“ mhmm. THAT.” I repeated “ you like Aubrey.” I teased
“ Shut up!” she blushed “ little bit.” She admitted
“little bit?” I questioned her word choice
“ ok a lot but still.” She trailed off
I laughed “ I ain’t mad. Me and Aubrey just need to have a talk.”
“ the sex talk or the ‘ if she comes to me crying, I’m gonna beat your ass’ talk?” she asked
“ number 2. Maybe both if he’s that clueless.” I joked
“ he’s not.” She defended him “ but anyways I see you and Michael.” She smirked
Now it was my turn to blush “ what about me and Michael? I just met him yesterday.” I debated
“ but ya’ll are still sitting very close to each other.” she said with a high voice
I shook my head “ its nothing…” I trailed off
“ its something, because YOU LIKE MICHAEL.” She nearly yelled
“SHUT UP NICKI!” I said covering her mouth. she licked my hand “ EWWW.” I screamed
“ don’t cover my mouth next time.’ She warned with a smile “ I’ll talk to Michael for you later.” she smirked again before going back into the living room.
I went to the kitchen to wash my hands. Michael came in a few seconds later.
“ do you mind if I take you last water?” he asked
“ Its fine. go ahead.” I said, he turned around to thank me
We stared at each other for a good 2 minutes before Wayne came in.
“aye Tyga, we gotta go. Interview in an hour.” He interrupted. Interrupted our staring contest
“ alright.” Tyga nodded as everyone made their way towards the door.
“ can I see you phone?” I asked Michael. I cant believe I’m doing this.
He handed me his iPhone, with a questioned look on his face. I put in my number.
“ I put in my number.” I clarified with a smile
His face lit up “ oh. alright.” He smiled back
“ I’ll see you around.” I waved
“ see ya Aaliyah.” He smiled again before walking out the kitchen.
Nicki was the last to leave. before she left she flashed me a smirk. I rolled my eyes and laughed
“bye Nicki.”

I went into the living room with Tiana and Michael. We started watching Finding Nemo (Tiana’s choice obviously) when my phone vibrated against my thigh.
Hey its Michael just wanted to make sure this wasn’t a fake number
I smiled at the text

“ What’s going on with you and AC?” I asked Tyga later on
“ Nothing. We’re barely friends.” He said
“ I saw the way you were looking at her.” I told him “ your feeling Aaliyah aren’t you?” I asked
“ Honestly yeah. But a relationship with Aaliyah wouldn’t work.” he confided
“Why? Because of Tiana?” I wondered
“ No. just because you know I don’t do long term relationships. They end up nasty and someone always ends up heartbroken. And Aaliyah, she just seems like there’s a part of her she’s trying to cover up.” Tyga explained
I nodded “ True. But my advice, is to give it a chance. With every relationship there’s difficulty, but the relationship could also bring you happiness and maybe even love.” I told him “ Aaliyah’s past relationships aren’t my business to talk about. But she needs someone to break her out of the funk she’s been in and that person just might be you Tyga.” I added softly before getting up.

I let Nicki’s word sink in. its true that there is possible difficulty in every relationship, but they bring you love and happiness.
If I knew Aaliyah was on the same page as I was, I just might give this a try.
