Don't Doubt My Love

Aaliyah’s POV

I’d just finished having lunch with Michael, Aubrey and Nicki. Nicki was now trying to convince me to come back to their hotel with them since it was only 3.

“PLEASEEEEEE!” Nicki pleaded
“ Fine!” I gave in weak under her begging
“Yay!” she yelled clapping her hands once and picking up Tiana

I rolled my eyes and laughed walking behind her. Aubrey went ahead and walked with Nicki and Tiana. I saw him look back at Michael and I and smile. Or was it a smirk? Ignoring Aubrey’s gesture, I got into the cab that Nicki had gotten to stop.

We rode to a Four Seasons hotel. I could feel Michael starring at me again but I ignored it. I got Tiana out of the cab and followed Nicki in to the hotel and onto the elevator. when the elevator stopped I followed them to a suite and when we walked inside everyone looked at me with suspicion.

“ This is Aaliyah.” Nicki said breaking the awkward silence

The confused looks on everyones face went away slightly and then a man with long dreads past his shoulders stood and spoke “ so you’re the infamous Aaliyah?” he laughed
“ Guess so.” I smiled
“ Nicki never shuts up about you.” he told me “ by the way I’m Wayne.” He introduced himself

I smiled again and sat down on the couch.

“ How old are you?” a boy with dreads like Wayne’s but with colored tips
“ Is that any of your business Chuckee?” Nicki questioned
“ just asking.” He replied

Tiana walked over to me. “What’s wrong baby?” I asked her sitting her in my lap
She shrugged “ Nothing.” She sweetly said getting out my lap and walking back to Nicki

Wayne chuckled a little to himself. “ What’s your name baby girl?” he asked Tiana
“Tiana.” She told him with a smiled
“ Pretty name.” he complemented her then turned to me “ How old is she?” he asked
“five!” Tiana answered for me
I laughed “ Five.” I repeated

Wayne laughed and nodded. I spent about two hours with Nicki and her label. There really nice once you get to know them and not judge them off what the media says.

“ Mommy, I’m tired.” Tiana announced sitting in my lap
I kissed her cheek “ we’ll leave in a minute.” I told her taking out my phone to call a cab.
“ I’ll drive you.” Michael offered.
I looked at him, he had a smiled on his face “ Thanks.” I said standing

“ I’ll come by tomorrow.” Nicki promised me
“ You better.” I joked “ how long are you in New York?” I asked
“ bout a week.” She answered
I nodded “ Bye everyone. Nice meeting y’all.” I said
“ Bye Auntie.” Tiana said hugging Nicki’s legs
“ Bye princess!” Nicki said kissing her forehead

Tiana walked to me and took my hand as we walked out, Michael behind me.

Michael’s POV

I followed behind Aaliyah and her daughter. She was so young to have a kid. I don’t know the full story but as of right now it’s really none of my business. Aaliyah stopped, I guess because she didn’t know which car was mine.

“ The black Chevy.” I answered before she asked

She nodded and walked towards the rental car. I opened it and Aaliyah put Tiana in the backseat, then got in the front seat herself.

“How heavy is that thing?” Aaliyah asked me after we had pulled off
“ What?” I asked, she pointed to my Garfield chain “ oh, its not that heavy but I guess I just got used to it
“ oh, I was just asking. I don’t see how ya’ll can wear those chains all the time without your neck hurting.” She chuckled
“ You wanna try it on?” I asked when we stopped at a red light

She shrugged her shoulders “ sure.”

I took the chain off and slipped it around her neck “ not that heavy right?” I asked her with a smile
“ it really isn’t.” she smiled back “ guess looks can be deceiving.”
“lord ain’t that the truth.” I agreed as she took off the chain and gave it back to me.

The rest of the ride we just talked and vibed the whole time. Aaliyah has a nice personality but just from today I can tell something happened that she’s trying to forget or cover up. I stopped in front of her apartment, which was on the bad side of New York.

“ Tiana we’ve home baby.” She spoke waking up Tiana, causing her to scurry but she woke up. “ Say thank you to Tyga.” She directed
“ Thank you Tigger.” Tiana spoke in a sweet voice
I laughed “ You’re welcome.”
“ Thanks for the ride Tyga.” Aaliyah thanked me
“ Aye, call me Michael.” I smiled, I didn’t let too many people call me Michael
“ ok. Thanks for the ride Michael.” She repeated getting out the car and getting Tiana.
“ No problem. Eh. I’ll see you tomorrow.” I said more as a question
“ See you tomorrow.” She confirmed walking into her rundown apartment building.

Aaliyah’s POV

I had just walked into my apartment. After putting Tiana to bed, I walked back into my living room. I stopped in my tracks, looking at the figure that stood in front of me….
