Maybe High School Isn’t So Bad

The Boy Likes The Girl Chapter 4

Thank you JeNiKA_ScReAmO_ for the book cover :)

The school day went by slowly.
The bell for lunch rang and I ran out of my Spanish class.
Freedom.
I headed to my locker to drop off my Spanish book. I spun the combination and put my book inside.
“Hey lady,” Everett said closing my locker.
“I guess I was done using it,” I said reopening it.
“Is that the greeting I get?” she snapped back jokingly.
“What’s up?”
“Nothing, I cute guy gave me his number,”
“Yay,” I said dryly.
Everett rolled her eyes. “Can you be happy for once?”
“Yay!” I said faking a grinning.
“Thank you,” she said smiling happily.
“Yup,” I said closing my locker.
“So, I was thinking about having another sleep over with a couple of the girls on the soccer team. You have a free invite,”
“No, thank you,”
“Come on!”
“I hate slumber parties. You know that,”
“Fake it for me?” she begged.
“No – Yes!” I was so much into the conversation I haven’t noticed that Pizza Boy was in front of us. I smiled at myself as I walked behind him.
Everett raised her eyebrow at me and looked in front of us.
She smiled. “Someone’s smitten”.
“Shut up,” I said slowing our pace.
“Talk to him,”
“Never,” I said. “He’s way too pretty”.
“And so are you, now go!” she said.
“And say what?” I asked as I bit my lip.
“Hi,” she said pushing me ahead.
I slowed my steps so I wouldn’t bump into him.
I looked over my shoulder at Everett who was soon joined with Miles.
I smiled at them and they gave me a thumbs up.
I turned around and walked next to him. We reached the stairs and he held the door open for me.
I smiled at him and muttered a thank you before quickly racing down the stairs.
I heard him behind me as I went down the stairs. By the time I reached the bottom he was next to me again and he opened the door.
“Thanks,” I said looking up at him.
“No problem,” he said as I walked by.
I smiled and headed outside.
I texted Everett and told her what happened.
“Hey,” Rickey said putting his arm around me lazily.
“Did you not learn your lesson before?” I said taking his arm off of me.
“What? I can’t say hi?”
“I would prefer if you didn’t,” I said picking up my pace.
“So what does your sister like? Flowers? Chocolate?”
“I don’t know and I don’t care,” I said walking away.
“Well what do you like?”
“I like you to leave me alone,”
“Come on. Give me a chance,” he said catching up to me.
“Why should I?”
“Because, I’m a great guy,”
“I don’t date guys that are screwing my sister,” I said bluntly.
“I haven’t…yet,”
“Yet is the key word,” I said crossing my arms over my chest.
Just before Ricky could say anything my sister stormed over. “What are you doing to my new boyfriend?” she looked beyond pissed.
“I was just telling him that you’re allergic to flowers and love teddy bears. Can we leave now?” I asked her.
She rolled her eyes and kissed Ricky on the mouth.
I made a face and walked away.
As I headed to the car I saw Pizza boy again.
He was laughing with his friend and looked over at me.
His smiled still on his lips. I smiled and waved to him.
He’s smile seemed to widen at me as he walked to his car.
I smiled widely.
I think I’ll be having pizza for dinner.
