So, I Love My Best Friend

So, I Love My Best Friend Chapter 24

Chauncey and I were five movies and two boxes of pizza in our sleepover when he deiced that he wanted to play Dance Dance Revolution. He always manages to beat me.
“I win!” he said leaping around the room.
I rolled my eyes. “Whatever,” I said lying on his bed. Chauncey got on top of me and smiled. “Sore loser.”
“Says the sore loser!” I said back.
He chuckled before lowering his head to mine.
“No!” I said panicking. I pushed him off of me and sat up.
“What?”
“Not like this. I don’t want our first kiss to be on your bed where every girl in our school has been.”
“This would be our second kiss and not every girl makes it in my bed. Only the cute ones,” he said winking at me.
I quickly stood up and paced around the room. “That’s not the point.”
“What is?”
“I don’t want our first real kiss to be like this.”
“What do you want it to be like?”
“Anything but this!”
“Is this about Jerry?”
“So what if it is?”
“Are you guys serious?”
“No…no…just friends…”
“With benefits…”
“Not the way you think.”
Chauncey rolled his eyes. “What do you want?”
“I don’t want to be an option and I want to be your first pick.”
“Clarissa, you were never an option.”
“Then why do I always feel like second best with you.”
“What are you talking about?”
“Why did I have to wait years for you to finally see me as someone more than your best friend?”
“I’ve noticed you, Clarissa, believe me I have.”
“See! I’m an option!”
“What about me? You and Jerry hook up almost everyday after school.”
“I’ve waited for you! For years! I told you that day at my locker that I wasn’t going to sit around and wait for you. Jerry was always there for me. He was my first boyfriend. He cares about me, despite what you think!”
“I care about you too.”
“Prove it! Ask me out right here right now!”
Chauncey sighed and his face softened. “Clarissa…”
I waited for a good two minutes before picking up my things and walking out.
“Clare!” he called after me I slammed his door shut. I headed to my car and drove away. Once I was home I crashed on my bed and fell asleep. I refused to cry over him.
Once I woke up and got dressed and went for a long run.
“Why are you here?” my mom asked when I walked into the house.
“I left,” I said grabbing a water bottle.
“Why? You and Chauncey have been falling out a lot.”
I nodded my head. “Don’t worry,” I said going up stairs.
*******
Sunday morning the rain won’t stop. Jerry came over around six, my mom let him in I’m guessing.
“You, me, bed, naked, let’s go!” he said climbing over to me.
I rejected his kiss and shook my head. “I’m not in the mood today.”
“Why? Is it blow job week?” he asked, meaning he was asking if I was on my period.
“No. I’m just…not in a good mood.”
“I can fix that, you know I can…”
“Not today Jerry,”
“What did Chauncey do?”
“Nothing… I just want to be alone for a while.”
“Okay…” Jerry said. “I’ll text you later?”
“Sure.”
Jerry blew me a kiss and headed out of my room.
