So, I Love My Best Friend

“Hey!” I said as Jerry walked over to his locker.
He opened his locker without a word. He smelled like weed, but I ignored it.
“I want us to be friends”.
“That didn’t work out that well last time.”
“Jerry, cut the act. I know you better than you know yourself. You’re afraid and that’s O.K. but this front is not. The guys and I are hanging out on Friday and I want you to be there. Think about it?”
He nodded his head and I left, Chauncey was waiting for me.
Friday came around and the girls came over then the guys came, shortly after. We hung out in my living room joking around, waiting for the pizza guy when the front door opened.
I walked out over to see Jerry taking off his jacket. I smiled and gave him a hug. “I’m glad you came.”
“Me too,” he said letting go of me.
We walked in together and everyone welcomed him, including Chauncey.
The rest of the night was smooth sailings.

“Clarissa!” Chauncey sang making his way upstairs.
“Yes?” I called pulling my hair up.
“Ready?” he asked walking in.
“For finales? No!”
“You’ll be fine.”
I turned around and was shocked. “What did you do to your face?” I asked.
“What?” he said smiling.
“You got a buzz?”
“Oh that? Yeah. The long hair was too much. I’m a man now.”
“Sure you are…”
“I am!”
I laughed and gave him a kiss. “If you like it I like it.”
“And that’s why I love you.”
“I love you too,” I said giving him a hug.
We headed down stairs and my mom wished us good luck before we headed out.
