So, I Love My Best Friend

So, I Love My Best Friend Chapter 6

I looked in the mirror one last time before leaving me room.
Chauncey was waiting for me in the living me.
He smiled once he saw me. “You look great,”.
I quickly looked him over. “You look handsome, as well,”.
He really did. When didn’t he?
Rose was a lucky girl.
“Let’s go,” he said.
“Bye mom, bye dad,” I called.
“Bye honey,” I heard them yell as I left the house.
Chauncey and I climbed into his car and he started her up and backed out of my driveway.
“Thanks again for this,”
“You so owe me. How much money did David promise you?” I asked.
“Um… he gave me thirty,”
“Hand it over,” I said extending my hand to him.
“You drive a hard bargaining, Evans,” he said pulling out his wallet.
Once he reached the stop sigh he gave me thirty dollars.
“Spank you very much,” I said putting the money in my back pocket.
Chauncey laughed and continued to drive.
We talked and sang along to the radio as Chauncey drove.
Moments later he pulled into a drive way of a cute little restaurant.
“Chauncey, I think I’m coming down with something,”
“Will you stop. It won’t be that bad,”
I pouted and got out of the car.
Rose and David were standing outside of the restaurant doors.
They both grinned as we came closer to them. Rose rushed over to Chauncey and gave him a kiss.
I looked the other way as David wrapped his arm around my shoulder.
“Don’t touch me,” I muttered removing his hand.
“Come on!” he whined as I walked inside.
The others followed me and Chauncey told the nice lady our reservation name. She led us to the very back of the room.
Both David and Chauncey pulled our chairs. Rose and I smiled and sat down.
One point for David, I thought as he sat in front of me.
Chauncey sat next to me and across from Rose, taking her hand.
I picked up my menu and scanned it.
Everything looked good. I might just go with the lasagna.
“What looks good?” David asked me.
“The lasagna,” I said. “You?”
“The stake and potatoes,” he said putting down his menu.
“So, what made you finally say yes?” he said.
Thirty bucks and Chauncey, I thought bitterly.
“I figured that you deserve a chance. This doesn’t mean I like you,”
Chauncey elbowed me and I elbowed back.
He looked at me and I gave him a fake grin.
He chuckled and returned his attention back to Rose.
“So…” I said to David as our waiter came.
He looked at me and smiled. I smiled back to be polite.
David ordered for us and Chauncey ordered for him and Rose.
As we waited for our food the four of us talked and laughed.
It was funnier than I thought it would be.
David’s not that bad. I still don’t like him though.
Our food came and we did more eating than talking.
Our waiter came back and smiled at me again. “Can I help you guys with anything else?”
“Dessert anyone?” Chauncey asked.
“Cheesecake?” I smiled.
“The lady want cheesecake,” David said.
“Then the lady will get cheesecake,” the waiter said. “What kind?”
“Red velvet,”
“Sure thing, anything else?”
“No, we’re good,” Chauncey said.
The waiter smiled and walked away.
“Clarissa, he’s totally hitting on you,”
I rolled my eyes. “I know, I’m trying to ignore it,”
“He is?” David asked.
I shook my head. “It’s no big deal,”
Chauncey nudged me with is elbow and I nudged back.
“How long have you two been friends?” Rose asked eyeing me.
I shrugged. “Since forever,”
“My mom baby sat us when we were really little and we’ve been really close ever since,” Chauncey said.
“Wow, are your mom’s friends?”
“Yeah,” I said.
“Then Chauncey would know what turns you on,” David said lending towards him.
He laughed. “Not happening,”
“Thank you,” I said as out waiter came back.
“Here you go,” he said placing the cheesecake in from of me.
I smiled. “Thanks,” I picked up a fork and took a small piece of the cheesecake and fed it to David.
I think the waiter got the message.
Once he left I gave David the fork and the four of us dug in.
Chauncey and David went Dutch on the check and we left.
I waved to David and walked to Chauncey car as he locked lips with Rose.
I leaned against his car and examined my nails in the dim light as I waited.
“Ready lady?” he asked jogging over to me.
“Yeah,” I said he opened his car and we pilled in.
”Thanks again for that,”
“Thanks for thirty bucks,” I muttered.
Chauncey shock his head. “I’m serious,”
“I know. Don’t mention it dude,” I said looking out the window stopping the conversation.
I tend to do that a lot with him. It kills me to see him happy with another girl. I can’t help but to think it should be me. I know Chauncey better than any girl.
I’ve seen him get hurt before and I don’t want that to happen, but it might.
He really seems to like Rose. She better not do anything stupid.
Chauncey might not be able to hit her but I can.
“Here’s your stop,” Chauncey said grinning.
“Thanks,” I grinned. “I’ll see you at school,”.
“I’ll be here bright and early,”
I got out of the car and waved to him. Once I was inside he speed off.
****
The next morning I wore jeans and a close fitted tee shirt with black boots.
Tiffany would be proud to know that I picked this out on my own.
As I did my make up I heard Chauncey come into my room.
“Hey Clarissa,” he said walking into my bathroom.
When he saw me he looked surprised again.
“Why the new look?” he asked wrapping his arms around me and resting his head on my shoulder.
“Dress for success,” I smiled trying to hind my blush.
“Well you’re going to very successful,” he said.
“Thanks, you too,”
“Ready?”
“Nope, you know me,” I said playing with my hair.
“You look fine,” he reassured me.
I rolled my eyes and played with my bangs. “I should cut these,”
“Yeah, I’m thinking about cutting my hair too,”
“Why? I like it long,”
“It gets in my way. I could barley see Rose last night. Oh! She had an awesome time, thanks,”
I turned around and looked him in his beautiful brown eyes. “I said not mention it. I had fun, we should double date again, this time without David,”
“Deal, fine a guy,”
I rolled my eyes. “We’ll see,”.
“What is your type anyway?” Chauncey asked.
You, I thought walking out of the bathroom. I shrugged. “Anyone but David,”
Chauncey laughed and put his arm around my shoulder as we walked to his car.
