Revanchism

C'est la mort.

Who would've guessed that you would wreck everything?
You may deny it. Even pin the blame on someone else.

But we know the truth, don't we, sweetheart?

There's nothing sweet about you. You're poison. Your voice is deceiving, your words acid, spat from your mouth as if they meant nothing to you. You'll never understand how much they meant to me. Never.

I remember you, back when your innocence wasn't just another one of your lies; back when that smile was just one of friendship, not of pretension. How when you said those three words, it would send me to the sky.

And how you left me to crash and burn when you took all that away.

You never told me why you changed.

Was it because of what happened?
Was it because you couldn't deal?
Did this ever mean anything to you?
Or was it all just one big joke?

You never understood. You laughed everything off, as if the real world never affected you. Were you always this blind? Were you always this ignorant to everything around you?

I think you just stopped liking what you heard. So you stopped hearing everything. Your word was law. Woe betide anyone who tried to make you see sense.

You never had made friends with logic, and so you swept it aside.
You didn't like the truth, so you made your own.

What could have I possibly done to you? What could I have done for you to create such malice about me?

Or are you still just playing your games?
Are you still laughing at me, all the way up from your self-made cloud nine? All the way through your intricate bubble of fantasy and deception?

I think it's time you stopped playing games, don't you?

It was your lies that destroyed me. Your petty form of spite that sent me so close to the nothing I'd always feared.
Needless to say, I won't stoop so low. Lies are not part of my arsenal against you. Lies are not how I'll get my revenge.

With the work of my thoughts, I'll see you screaming.
With the work of my actions, I'll make it a reality.
A truth not even you can escape.

Because, honey,

Who needs lies when you have a gun?

My second ever attempt at a oneshot. I got the phrase "c'est la mort" off an internet translator, so sorry if it's grammatically incorrect.
Any readers are very much appreciated :]
