Seize the Day, Relish the Night

018

"Hi." I whispered, kissing his cheek and wrapping my arms around Jyrki's waste, hooking my fingers through the back belt loops of his leather pants.

"I wasn't sure if Timo was every going to give you up." He pouted.

I laughed and kissed his lips. "He was just doing it to piss you off. You had him rolling at your bitter expressions."

"I was not bitter." He rolled his eyes.

"Sure you weren't." I smirked and sighed dramatically. "But, it's too bad; it looked hot."

"So maybe I was a bit bitter." Jyrki smiled, bringing my hips closer to him.

I laughed patting his chest. "You're so corny."

"But," he dipped his head lower. "You like it."

I bit my bottom lip briefly before leaning up meeting his lips, giving us what we've been waiting for. I sighed and leaned my head on his shoulder taking in the sweet scent of his cologne as I swayed my hips to the music.

"Love, come on!" I was ripped away from Jyrki again, only this time by Veera.

I looked over my shoulder, chuckling at the shocked look on his face. "I'm starting to think that I won't be sharing my bona fide moment with Jyrki."

Veera rolled her eyes and handed me the shot of tequila. I grabbed the salt off of the bar and sprinkled some on the back of my hand before handing it to Veera. I licked it off and downed the tequila. I turned to face V only to get the lime shoved in my mouth, supposedly enhancing the flavor.

Veera laughed as I scrunched up my nose from the burn and handed me another rocks glass full of the blanco spirit. "Here, love."

"Trying to get me drunk swiftly?" I laughed taking the glass.

"Depends on if it works." She grinned. "You need to loosen up, love."

"Doing body shots a little early aren't we ladies?" Kale smirked snaking his arms around his wife.

"You'd like that wouldn't you?" I laughed shaking my head at the guilty smile on his lips.

"Eh, I won't lie." He grinned.

Veera nudged me. "Looks like he can't stay away from you for too long." I looked towards what she was talking about and saw Jyrki coming down from the upper platform. He looked around several times until his eyes, hidden once again by sunglasses, landed on me. I felt my cheeks flush as he smiled softly and headed straight towards us. "I told you he really missed you, love."

Kale laughed. "She didn't believe you?"

I rolled my eyes as he talked like I wasn't standing there, keeping my eyes on Jyrki as he slithered through the crowd. "Why would he miss me like that?"

Kale smacked my upside my head, apparently to knock some sense in me was his excuse. "Because he knows how amazing you are."

I quickly licked the salt off the back of my hand and downed the shot, closing my eyes as it tingled all the way down my throat. I glared at Kale as he shoved a lime slice in my mouth and just swallowed the citrus juices. I pulled the peel out of my mouth and licked up the extra pulp on my lips. "You and your wife act too much a like."

"Why do you think I married her?" He smirked proudly.

I shrugged. "I always thought it was for the sex." I laughed and dodged out of the way of Veera trying to smack me. I lost my footing and landed in someone's arms. I looked up and smiled. "Hi, raahis."

He chuckled. "Hi, darling."

I turned to the happy couple grinning, pointing a finger accusingly at them. "We are finally going to dance without you interrupting us." Jyrki chuckled and said as much of hello as he could while I was trying to tug him away.

I swayed comfortable to the music, my muscles relaxing as the alcohol made it's way through my veins. He wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me close to him. I smiled closing my eyes feeling his warm breath sweeping across my neck.

"You know what I heard?" I said against his ear so he could hear me. I felt him shake his head. "That you might have missed me." I bit my lip wanting to hear it from him what everyone else had been telling me.

I tilted my head as his teeth tugged on my lobe. "Darling, I was lost without you."

"Why?" I frowned when he stopped moving to the music and turned me around to face him.

He lifted his sunglasses momentarily to look me clearly in the eye before smiling and shaking his head. "Why not?" He smirked knowing that that was not the answer I had wanted to hear. He wrapped his arms around me dancing like we had never stopped.

I signed knowing that he wasn't going to say anything more and began to move with him. I enjoyed myself as the night passed slowly, dancing with everyone and meeting some of Jyrki's friends.

I grinned as Jussi wrapped his arms around the both of us. "Hello again."

"Ah, Tuuli, you have no idea how happy I am that you are home so this love sick puppy stops moping around." Jussi winked before saying something to Jyrki and going over to the bar.

Jyrki smiled and nodded, before looking at me and putting my hands on his shoulders again. "Any New Year's resolutions?"

I shook my head. "Nope; don't believe in them."

"Why?" His lips frowned in confusion.

I smirked. "Why not?"

"Cheeky girl." He laughed. "Ready to hit the Square?"

I couldn't conceal my grin and nodded my head. "You didn't even have to ask."

Jyrki leaned down and kissed my lips quickly. "Veera and Jussi went to go get out coats." I followed him outside where everyone else was waiting.

I smiled gratefully at Valto as he handed me my coat. It was cold and damp outside; I was freezing. I sighed in content scanning over our large group as we made our way towards Senate Square where we planned on joining the crowd in front of Helsinki Cathedral.

I shivered once again and bit my lip, smiling, as Jyrki wrapped his arms around my waist, falling into step with me. "I thought that we are in the Mediteranian now that you're back."

I grinned remembering claiming that. "I'm not cold; I just don't like the dampness. Why, you aren't cold, are you?"

"Vampires aren't affected by the cold Tuuli." Timo-Timo grinned, putting his two cents into our conversation.

"That's right, how could I forget." I teased.

"Love, is that sarcasm I hear?" Jussi pouted. "I'm quite hurt."

I rolled my eyes and pushed the two forward, giggling when Jyrki pulled me back. "So, how do you plan on keeping me warm?" I mused.

"Don't worry about that darling, I have my ways." He smirked confidently.

I leaned close to his ear and gripped his earlobe between my teeth, smirking at the satisfying gasp that escaped his lips. "When do you plan on showing me?"

"Wouldn't you like to find out." He slapped my ass walking ahead, leaving me stunned.

I laughed and ran up, jumping on his back. He wrapped my legs around his waist and supported me with his hands as we went to sit on the steps of the Helsinki Cathedral. The area was lit up under the soft blue glows of the lights.

Jyrki carefully sat on the steps still holding me as I sat on the step above him. I leaned my head on his shoulder listening to everyone talk and jumping in the conversation here and there.

I smiled, as several fans would come up to talk to their favorite mainstream band. I couldn't help but yawn as we waited for midnight to approach; waiting is such a tiring task. Especially the droning on of the mayor's speech in the background, which I was hoping we would have missed.

Jyrki tilted his head back to look at me. "You can't possibly be tired, darling."

"You would be too after a long flight and train ride, and without a proper sleep." I mumbled nuzzling my nose into his neck.

He reached around and forced me to stand up, much to my dislike. He rolled his eyes at my complaining and chuckled, setting me between his legs so I could lean against him comfortably.

He shivered as I slipped my cold hands under his jacket and vest, across his warm skin. "I thought that vampires don't get cold." I smirked.

Jussi and Ale came over with huge grins, the type that one should be weary of. They raised the several bottles of champagne and Koskenkorva that they got. "Shouldn't you have had the schnaps before dinner?" Veera laughed at her brother-in-law.

"Why do you think it was cheaper?" They grinned smugly.

I grabbed the bottle of the blackcurrant flavored Koskenkorva and unscrewed the cap before taking a sip and passing it to Veera to quit her complaining. Soon after the two bottles of schnaps had been drained, the fireworks started going off, signaling that it was nearing midnight.

Valto and Archzie began to peel the gold foil off of from around the cork. "And how did you plan on opening them?" Jyrki chuckled at their dumbfounded expressions.

Jussi rolled his eyes. "You really think that we would forget such and essential tool?" He patted down his pockets and cursed as he came up empty.

"Why don't you put those muscles to use Jussi?" I teased.

"I like this sassy side of you." Jyrki purred in my ear.

"I will." He smirked grabbing the bottle from Archzie, placing his thumbs in position to pop the cork off.

"You do do you?" I turned to face Jyrki, ignoring Jussi's cry of victory and Bazie's cry of pain.

The crowd counting down from ten seemed like mere background noise as I stared into Jyrki eyes. I reached up and gently held his face in my hands, bringing him into a sensual kiss as the cathedral bells went off, signaling a new year.

"Hyvää Uuttavuotta!" and "Onnellista Uutta Vuotta!" were shouted as everyone began to greet one another.

The fireworks were still going off, only more were added. Kale handed everyone a small piece of tin, cast in the shape of a miniature horseshoe. "I managed to get some before the crowd attacked the venders."

I grinned looking at mine; it was my favorite part of New Year's. I waited in back as everyone stepped up to the man with a fire pit going, holding the pan. Jyrki asked if I wanted to go before him. I smiled a shook my head. "I like being last." He shook his head and laughed, caressing my hand with his thumb as he held it securely so we would not separate.

I smiled at the man, when it was my turn, and placed my horseshoe in the pan. He heated it up over the fire and poured it into a special container of water. When the iron had hardened enough, he poured out the extra water and handed me a container.

"What did you get, love?" Veera asked as I pealed off the blob of iron and she tried to interpret its shadow that it cast. "Someone got a heart." She smiled. "You know what that means."

I blushed and looked away. I knew exactly what the silly blob meant: a wedding.

"So, what did you get, darling?" Jyrki asked. Veera smiled and gave me a quick wink before joining her husband and everyone else.

"Nothing special." I smiled sheepishly. "Just a glob of metal."

"Let me see." He grinned trying to look in me hand.

I balled my hand into a fist, concealing it, and pulled it just out of his reach, for the moment anyway. He probably could have gotten it if he really wanted to. "You show me yours and I'll show you mine."

"Agreed." Jyrki laughed and opened his hand revealing his melted horseshoe.

I bit my lip trying to figure its shape. "A ship?"

He nodded and smiled excited. "It makes sense; we will be touring again soon. Hopefully it's a sign of a good tour." He looked over at me slyly. "Now your turn."

I bit my lip nervously and slowly opened my hand to show him mine.

"A heart." He whispered. He looked up at me and smiled shyly. "Shall we set a date?" I laughed and looked away blushing. He hooked his finger under my chin and kissed me quickly. "I'm only teasing, darling."

The sad thing is, I almost wish that he were serious. "What did everyone else get?" I changed the subject swiftly.

"Mostly pigs and coins." Jyrki chuckled.

"So we shall all be fat and wealthy, huh?" I grinned as he laughed.

"How about we continue this at the bar?" Kale suggested draping an arm over his wife's shoulder.

Everyone was agreeing when I said a meek, "I can't."

"Oh, yeah Ulla." Veera nodded understanding.

"Don't worry. Go, have fun." I ushered them to leave so they wouldn't feel guilty and waved my hand casually in the air. I gave them all a quick kiss and hug goodnight, wishing them a Happy New Year.

"You don't think that you can get rid of me that easily, do you?" Jyrki wrapped his arms around me, kissing the nape of my neck. I relished in the warmth that he emitted as he held me close as we walked towards my apartment.

I jiggled my keys teasingly and pouted when I saw Jyrki standing there looking out onto the water, waiting patiently for me to unlock the door. I leaned against the door and huffed. "Jyrki."

He looked at me smiling, until he realized that the door was still locked. "Is there a problem?" He looked at me confused.

I laughed. "When a girl jiggles her keys Jyrki that means she wants a kiss."

Jyrki chuckled, as his cheeks grew rosy. He leaned down and captured my lips into a sweet kiss. A perfect way to end the night and begin the New Year.
