The Same Mistake

Saturday, January 10 - (3).

Draco sat across from Ellie, his hands resting on her knees. They were leaning towards each other, speaking in quiet whispers. Every now and then the carpet hanging in front of the passage sway as a student walked past. Draco lifted his right hand, brushing a stray lock of hair from Ellie’s face.

“Did Snape tell you how long it would be before the Dark Lord wants to step in?”

Draco could tell by tremor in Ellie’s voice that she was putting g lot of effort into not sounding as worried as she truly was. A proud smile flickered on his lips; Ellie was far stronger than she looked. “No, he didn’t, but it did sound like it could be soon.”

Ellie flicked her long blonde hair over her shoulder. “Alright. I’ll talk to the Order, they need to know exactly what we know. Then, maybe, they can do something to protect my parents.”

“What?” Draco lifted his pale eyebrows incredulously. “You can’t possibly be thinking of telling them that I told you this information. I’m not playing both sides, Ellie. I only told you because I care about you, I don’t want anything to happen to you.”

Ellie dropped her gaze, not meeting his steady gaze. “I have to tell them Draco. If anything happened to my family because of me, I would never be able to forgive myself. Don’t you understand that?”

Draco sighed hanging his head. “Yeah, I do. But this isn’t about your parents, it’s about –“

“Don’t worry. I’ll figure out away so that no one will be able to trace this back to you.” Ellie leaned forward until her lips met Draco’s.
