Yours From the Beginning

Whilst awaiting Jacobs return, Elinor lay on her back looking up at the cloud filled sky, contemplating her most recent predicament. She shook her head to relieve herself of the thoughts swarming her mind and replaced them with her overly optimistic thoughts of what is yet to come.

After staring up at the sky for what must have been at least twenty minutes-though she didn’t mind- she heard the rustling of the bushes as the wolf came back along with his Alpha, both in human form.

She speedily stood up and rushed towards the two men stopping only centimeters in front of them with a huge, beaming smile on her lush lips. The suddenness of her appearance caused the men to step back in shock and wariness. This didn’t derail Elinor however.

“Hello.” She proudly directed her words to the Alpha. “I’m Elinor. Jacob here told me I would have to speak to you for help? Assuming you are the Alpha that is.” She questioned.

“That would be correct. I’m Sam.” Sam replied to the overly chipper vampire in front of him and couldn’t help but think that she could do no harm. He decided to give her a chance. “What do you want?” He asked, with a slight hint of coldness which he couldn’t help but let slip out. She was a leech after all and it was against his nature that he should even be having a civilized conversation with her. Even if he liked her attitude only a little, her still didn’t know her.

“I understand that you do not have the greatest of trust in me however, I assure you I will not be of any trouble to you. I would like to ask of your protection, you see I am in a situation which I cannot even begin to explain, not only is it a long story but it is also a story that could get you killed and I don’t want that! I shall explain everything once I know I am safe again. Please keep me safe.” Elinor’s tone of voice turned from serious to sullen and almost pleading and her eyes held desperation that only beggars could hold. “I promise I will harm anyone, human blood repulses me and I only have to eat at least once every few months.”

Both Sam and Jacob’s faces were contorted with shock. Their eyes popping out of their skulls and their mouths hanging open like gaping fish. This had to be one of the weirdest moments of their lives-apart from turning into giant wolves. A vampire literally begging for their help? This was against the principles of both a vamps and a shifters nature. Even more surprisingly to Sam he found himself thinking over the girls words.
After around ten minutes of waiting patiently, Elinor began to get nervous that they wouldn’t let her stay and began to back away staring at nothing other than the ground.

“I’m sorry for wasting your time and trespassing. I’ll be off now.” She begrudgingly walked past half the clearing by the time Sam snapped out of his trance.

“WAIT,” he shouted. This in turn woke Jacob up from his shock. “Come back.”
With a small, hopeful smile, Elinor gracefully glided back to the two tall men. When she stopped Sam looked her up and down giving her one last look over before deciding he could trust her for now.
“I… ermm… I can’t let you stay on the reservation because of the pack and an old treaty with a coven of vampires but I’m willing to compromise.” He said hesitantly. Jacob looked at Sam with a clueless expression as though he was asking what the hell dude with his eyes. Sam continued, “We could protect you to an extent if you were to stay in Forks which is basically just down the road. We could make sure no vamps cross our path and keep you updated.”

Elinor thought about this for a few seconds. It sounded reasonable but what would she do to protect her from the other sides surrounding this town called Forks. She voiced her worries by asking, “But how does that protect me from the rest of the entrances to the town?”

Sam thought of this for a while when suddenly, as though a light bulb had been switched on in his head the perfect idea appeared. “There is a coven of vampires, vegetarian like you, living in Forks at the moment. You could track them down and ask them to help protect you where we can’t.”

A bright smile appeared on Elinor’s face and she couldn’t help but bounce around like a child. “Thank you Sam!” she beamed and like with Jacob earlier, she leaned in and gave Sam a grateful hug. Sam stood stiff but then slowly relaxed and returned the hug.

“It was nice meeting you Elinor. Strange, but nice.”

“You to Sam.” As she was about to walk off she turned back and said with a smile, “Call me Elle.” And with that she ran from sight to go and find a place to stay in the small, cloudy town of Forks.

Both Sam and Jacob turned to look at each other and at the same time said, “That was weird.” They removed their pants and shifted into their wolf forms to go back and tell the others of these strange, recent events. About the first vampire they trust and maybe even like.
