World So Cold

Tyler Smallwood

Returning to the edge of the crowd I watched more of the dance. A few guys came up to me and asked to dance. I turned them down flat. After that first guy no way was I dancing with any of them. It was like torture.

Thinking of torture got me a little hungry. I surveyed the crowd looking for a guy that I could take outside for a bit. Instantly Tyler Smallwood caught my eye. He was so easy to get away from everyone last time. And I never even got a chance to taste his blood before Stefan ruined my fun.

Getting up I glided over to him. His date was tucked under his arm. Compelling her I sent her away to the refreshments table. “Hey,” I said coming up to Tyler once his date was gone.

“Hey,” he said grinning. He did remember me from before but he didn’t remember our trip to the cemetery, unfortunate for him. I could please him in ways no other mortal woman could.

“Where’s your date?” I asked him. I walked up to him and put minimal space in between our bodies. Only a few inches separated us.

“She went to get some refreshments or something,” he shrugged. He wasn’t too concerned about her. I didn’t blame him. She was not the best looking girl here. That would be me after all.

“Oh, so you’re free for a bit,” I said looking at him playfully.

“I guess I am,” he answered with a smirk on his face.

“How about we step outside for a bit where no one can see us?” I compelled him to agree with me. “We wouldn’t want anybody to see us,” I explained.

“Sure,” he said. He laid a hand on my back and escorted me to one of the exits. We quietly went out into the night unnoticed by anybody. I felt the cold air caress my skin but wasn’t affected by it. The air had a bite to it and swirled my hair around.

Once we got outside I roughly shoved Tyler up against the wall of the school. Without a word I attached my lips to his. I got an instant response. Tyler wanting to be the dominant one switched our positions so that I was thrown up against the wall.

The roughness of the brick wall cut my skin. Instantly the cuts healed but the smell of blood still hung in the air. I felt the bloodlust rush through my system. My jaw started ache. I kissed Tyler more forcefully loving the taste of his skin.

I bit down on his lip. I must have bit harder than I intended because he the taste of blood entered my mouth. “Ow,” he said and pulled away. “Getting a bit rough?” he smirked at me.

“I always get rough,” I told him. I pulled him in again and sucked on his bleeding lip. The feeling of his blood entering my mouth filled me with pleasure. Tyler braced himself against the wall as I kept pulling him closer and closer. A groan passed through his mouth and I knew he was enjoying himself too.

I heard his fast heartbeat in my ears and felt the rush of blood to his skin where I touched. Veins started to appear under my eyes and my eyes themselves became bloodshot. I moved down to kiss Tyler’s neck. Once there blood was all I could think about. His artery ran right there.

My fangs extended and I pulled back ready to bite. Tyler’s face when he saw mine filled with fear. Before he could do anything about it though I plunged my fangs expertly into his artery where the blood swiftly flooded into my mouth.

I couldn’t get the blood out of him fast enough. He tasted good. Better than most humans really. I wanted to drain him. To drink every last drop of blood that his body held until he shriveled up into a corpse.

But I couldn’t do that here. Not at the dance. Not now. And Tyler was too important for me to just kill him now. That would have to wait. I removed my mouth from his neck. Once I pulled away Tyler was a bit dizzy and swayed a bit on his feet.

Biting my wrist I let a few drops of blood flow into Tyler’s mouth. He drunk reflexively too drunk from the bite to realize what was going on. Slowly the wound at his neck healed and all that was left was the blood. I licked up the blood leaving no traces of my escapade.

Tyler then came to and looked at me horrified. “You’re― you’re a vampire,” he said shocked.

“Oh, you’re a smart one,” I said sarcastically. “Unfortunately though, you can’t remember this. You just stepped outside for some fresh air.”

“I just stepped outside for some fresh air,” he repeated under compulsion.

“Good, now you can leave,” I said dismissing him with a wave of my hand. He turned to go. “Oh, wait,” I said and he paused looking back at me. “I almost forgot something.” A wicked smile spread across my face.
