Falling

Cream or Sugar?

“Regular Coffee, medium” The man said to me as I looked up at him from behind the counter. The man looked to be in his late twenties early thirties. He had short, short dark hair and grayish eyes. He looked like an over all friendly guy. Not one of those older creepy people that look like they want to rape little girls or anything. He smiled at me as I punched in his order.

“Cream or Sugar?” I asked tilting my head smiling at the man.

“Oh 2 and 2. Thank you.” I raced off to make the man his coffee. As I was I really couldn’t help but look over at the small stage on the other side of the café. I smiled looking at them playing; Greg, Jord, Landon, and Lucas. Greg looked up from his guitar scanning the room until his eyes met mine and he nodded his head while he continued. I smiled at him in reaction before going back to finish the man’s coffee.

“2.28” I stated simply smiling at the man. He took out a five and handed it to me.
“Keep the change.” He smiled. I looked back over to the band, my smile grew watching them play as I handed the man his coffee.

“They have a nice sound.” My head snapped to meet the man again. He was staring across the café looking at the four boys playing.

“Yeah they really do.” I smiled also looking at them.

“Do you know them?” My eyes snapped back to him, and he was looking at me.

“Well yeah.” I blushed continuing. “The guitarist and lead singer, Gregory Daniels is my boyfriend. The bassist and other vocalist is his brother Jordan Daniels. Landon Nixon is drums. And Lucas Ryan on the synthesizer. But if you want gear you can see Corey Moore.” I smiled at him.

“Oh no, I just want to talk to them.” He smiled genuinely at me.

“Oh.” I looked up at the clock. “They have 15 minutes left, you can take a seat, and I can get Greg and Jord to come over to you.”

“That would be lovely. Thank you…”

“Olivia. Olivia Cole.”

“Thank you Olivia Cole.” He nodded his head and walked to a table. He sat down sipping his coffee watching the four boys very intently.

I slowly walked back to my place at the cash register. No one was in line; it was half an hour till closing. I just leaned against the counter listen to the boys play. After every song I would hear clapping in the small crowd, and the man sitting even clapped. I smiled watching how happy they were up there performing.

After waiting on just a few more customers that were leaving the boys gig, it was time to get Greg and Jord over to the man who had wanted to talk to them. I placed a closed sign at the register and walked into the back room to get my uniform off. I replaced the purple tee shirt and name tag for an ‘Invisible Children’ shirt. Luckily we were aloud to wear jeans to work. I looked in the mirror letting my hair down from its high pony tail. I smiled before grabbing my bag and heading out.

Walking up to Greg still gave me butterflies; even after being with him for 8 months. He looked up from the amp he was currently taking care of. He stood up and smiled when he saw me approaching him.

“Olivia.” His smile grew when I reached him. He grabbed both of my hands, intertwining our fingers together and leaned in to peck my lips. I really couldn’t help but smile under the small pressure, and I could feel his smile too before I pulled away.

“Greg, some guy wanted to talk to you and Jord. He’s over there waiting for you two.” I smiled up at him.

“Do you know what he wants?” His eyes widened in confusion.

“No idea, but go get Jord. Okay?” I asked tugging on his hands.

He laughed at my childishness. “Okay, okay.” He kissed my cheek before letting go of my hands and walking back stage.

I don’t think anyone knew how much I loved that kid. Just everything about him made me feel like I had to hold my breath. When he sang there was no moment where I wasn’t smiling. And when he kissed me, I had to remember how to stand, even under the lightest pressure of his lips against mine.

Jordan and Greg both came from back stage looking for the man, who they spotted and walked over to. While they talked I thought I might as well help out Landon, Lucas, and Corey with putting everything in the car. So I walked up to Corey who was currently putting tee shirts in a box.

“Corey!” I half yelled jogging up to him.

“Hey Liv! What’s up?” He smiled up at me.

“Just helping out. Greg and Jord are talking to some guy over there, so I thought you guys could use the extra help.” I smiled and started putting away black rubber bracelets that read ‘The Falling’ in white into a container.

“Thanks Liv, you’re so helpful.” He tapped my nose and laughed.
“I try, what can I say?” I laughed.

“Oh, hey. I got this tee shirt for you. You need to wear it to the next concert. No cost, just because you make my best friend soo happy.” He laughed the last part before handing me a blue tee shirt with white writing on it. I held it up and read the front; diagonal across the front in some sleek print it read “I Love The Falling”.

“Aw, Corey it is so cute!” I smiled at him.

“No look at the back.” He laughed.

I turned the shirt and looked at the white writing going across where my lower back is, and it read ‘Especially The Guitarist’. My smile grew. “Corey, it’s perfect.” I hugged him holding the shirt tightly.

“I knew you would like it. But you can’t let Greg see in until the next concert!” He raised an eyebrow at me.

“I can do that, don’t worry Corey.” I smiled before helping him with the rest of the merchandise on the table.

When me and Corey were almost done, we were interrupted by Gregory and Jordan running over to us.

“OVLIVIA! COREY!” They yelled in unison. Me and Corey both looked up at us to see the two of them running full speed at us. The man from before was walking behind them at a much slower pace, but an obvious smile was on his face.

“What?” Me and Corey answered simultaneously. We looked at each other and laughed at the fact that we said the same thing at the same time. But our laugh was cut short by Gregory tackling me to the ground in an embrace.

“OLIVIA!” He yelled before kissing me fully on the lips. He pulled away after a few seconds with a huge goofy grin plastered on his face.

“Gregory!” I half laughed under his weight.

“No seriously Olivia.” His smile never faded from his face.

I could feel the confusion wash over me, and I gave him a questioning look. “What Gregory?”

“That guy.” I nodded looking up at him. “He’s a record dealer! And he wants to sign us! The Falling!” His eyes lit up as he spoke.

“Gregory! That’s amazing!” I pressed my lips against his in a hard kiss which he returned obviously smiling under it. He pulled away.

“He wants us the four of us fly out to California! Los Angles, California!” He goofy grin never left his face.

My heart couldn’t help but sink a little at the thought of Gregory being all the way in California. Hell, all of the boys being that far away from me was going to be horrible. It must have shown in my face because Greg’s smile fell a little. “Hun…I’m not leaving you.” His smile grew again.

“What?” I was completely confused about what he was saying.

“Technically, you are the one who got us set up with him.” He nodded toward the man. “And…I love you Olivia Cole, I could never leave you. I told him you were part of the deal. And he agreed! You get to come with us to Los Angles!”

“I love you Gregory Daniels!” I yelled laughing.

“I love you too Olivia Cole!” He yelled before pressing his lips against mine in a hard kiss. We pulled away smiling like idiots. I started laughing realizing that he was still on top of me.
“What hun?”

“You are still on top of me babe.” I laughed.

“Oh yeah.” He laughed. “Sorry hun.” He put his hands on either side of me and pushed off of me standing up with both of his legs on either side of me. He offered me his hands to get up.

“Thanks babe.” I smiled as he pulled me up too quickly so I wrapped my arms around his waist to keep from falling. His arm wrapped around my shoulders and his snuggled his face in the small of my neck.

“I’m so excited Olivia. My life couldn’t be any better. I have you, and now ‘The Falling’ is going to get a record deal.” He whispered.

“I know, everything is falling into place Greg!” I smiled pulling away from him so I could look him in the face.

His goofy grin was back, but he pecked me on the lips quickly.

“Come meet him! His name is Mark.” Greg grabbed my hands and pulled me over to the man who’s name was apparently Mark, who was talking to the rest of the boys.
He saw me and smiled. “I see that Gregory has told you the good news?” He asked me nodding his head.

“Well yes. He did.” I couldn’t help but let a smile grow on my face when I looked at all the boys. I have never seen them so happy before.

“Did he tell you that you are invited to come and join them?” His faced showed nothing but enjoyment.

“Yes he did. And I would be glad to join them.”

“I see. Well, the boys have my number and they will be keeping in contact with me for the next couple of months. I have already called my company and they have planned for you to leave Vermont in 2 days. So I recommend you and the boys get ready for the trip, the flight shall be bright and early.” He smiled.

My mind was in shock. I almost couldn’t believe he reality of it all. We were all so young, the oldest being only 21. Any everything seemed so perfect for all of us now. I could just nod my head in response; I was at a total loss of words for what was happening. Mark smiled once more at all of us before he turned and walked away from us.

“WE MADE IT!” Landon yelled jumping up and down like a little kid. The boys cheered and hugged in response, throwing me right in the middle of it.

“THE FALLING!” Jordan yelled leading us.

“THE FALLING” We yelled in sync.

We separated, and my mind was still trying to wrap itself around what had just happened. I gave a coffee to a normal costumer, now my boyfriend, his band and I, were on our way to Los Angles in just two days.

“Liv?” I felt someone squeeze my hand and I looked up to meet Greg’s intense eyes. They were sparkling with so much emotion.

“Yeah?” I smiled at him.

“Want to go tell my parents? Then yours? So we can start getting reedy to leave?” He smiled tugging on my fingers.

“Yes.” My smiled instinctively when I felt his grip tighten on my hand. He kissed my cheek before we walked out the back door to Jordan’s car. Gregory and I took our normal spot in the back. Greg out of spite put his favorite CD in the player; Confide’s Recover. He smiled before sitting back next to me and pulling me against him.

“Olivia. This has to be the best life anyone could ever ask for. I have you and we got signed a real record deal.” He kissed my cheek.

“I know Greg. Everything is perfect.” I smiled and looked up at him. He placed his lips on mine in a sweet kiss, cupping my face in his hands. One of my hands came to rest on his upper thigh as we relaxed into the kiss. We both pulled away momentarily.

“Everything really is perfect Liv.” He kissed my lips lightly one more time before Jord got in the car. “Could you two stop being so damn cute for once in your life?” Jordan looked at us sticking his tongue out.

“I’m sorry Jord. You didn’t get anything.” I leaned forward and pressed my lips against his cheek. I could feel his cheeks turn up in a smile.

“Hey now. Don’t get Gregory’s boxers in a bunch, you are his girlfriend.” I laughed sitting back next to Greg, placing my hand back on his thigh.

“Time to spread the news!” Greg yelled at the top of his lungs. I smiled at my idiot of a boyfriend and his goofy grin that never failed to look cute.
