Muster Every Ounce of Confidence

Step Thirteen: Laying the Last Brick of Confidence

Benji
I watched her walk out the door, wondering if I was making a mistake. But deep down....I knew I wasn't and I knew what I had to do.

Eliza
Benji and I's little fling has been going on for almost two years now. Dad is starting to get suspicious.

"Eliza....what's going on with you? You've been acting weird for a while now."

"I'm fine, dad. I promise. I'm just stressing over college."

"Okay Babygirl. Just try to rest okay?" He pulls me to him.

"Okay Daddy." Jere runs into the room.

"Oh Hell no. You're having a family moment without me! So not cool!!" He jumps on us and we all laugh.

My phone ringing stops the jokes we had been throwing at each other. "Hello?"

"Hey babe. What's going on?"

Benji....

I smile to myself, not realizing it. "Nothing. Just joking around with Dad and Jere. You?"

"I'm in a hotel in Chicago. Can you come over?"

"Sure. I'll be there in a sec."

"Hurry up. Bye Hun."

"Bye." I hang up, turning back to Tony and Jere. "Guys, I'm goin out. I'll be back..... well I don't know when I'll be back. I'll call you later to let you know I'm okay."

"BYE LIZA!!" The yell after me as I walk out the door. I speed over to the hotel Benji always stays in.

"Hey babe. I missed you."

"I missed you too." I kiss his cheek and we go sit on the couch, snuggled up.

"So how has life been?"

"Good. Better now that you've finally made it out here." I smile up at him.

"I know. I'm sorry but we've just been hella busy."

"It's okay."

Somewhere in the 30 minutes I had been there I feel asleep. Waking up I rubbed my eyes but something rough made them pop open. A beautiful diamond ring graced my ring finger.

"You like it?" I look into Benji's eyes and melt.

"Yea, but what....Are we?"

"Engaged? Yes." He smiles down at me.

"OK."

We look at each other for only a moment before kissing. The only thing different about this kiss is that our lips crashed together.
