I'm a Teenage Girl Teaching at an All Boys School for Delinquents

Opportunity

“Miss Loft. Please refrain from talking while I am speaking.” I turned around to scowl at my least favorite teacher.

“Yes Mrs Davids.” I said for the hundredth time today. I sighed and looked down at my page, my brown hair slid off my shoulder and onto the desk. I looked around the room, Sydney, David and Ruth where all sitting in different areas of the room, Sydney’s natural beauty never failed to shock me, her long golden locks shimmered in the sun, her blue eyes where framed by her long eyelashes, though it wouldn’t matter to David because he’s gay, he isn’t one of those fluttery gay’s, he’s just like a normal guy. His brown hair was always messy and stuck up in places, his eyes where a dark pool of brown, and when he smiled, his white teeth reflected the sun’s rays. If he wasn’t gay, I would totally date him. Ruth’s wavy black hair always shimmered whenever the sun hit it, her eyes where dark and her lashes where long, she was also short compared to Sydney and I. I jumped when I heard a slap coming from in front of me. I spun forward; Mrs Davids was frowning down at me,

“Please refrain from turning around in your seat Miss Loft.” I sighed,

“Yes Mrs Davids.” Hundred and one times today. Mrs Davids turned around back to the bored, I put my head down, “Pretty soon you’ll be saying ‘Please refrain from breathing Miss Loft’.” I muttered to myself, there were a few snickers from around me. Mrs Davids spun around to face us all, her eyes landed on me, I swear that her glare could have burned holes into me. I smiled sheepishly,

“Would you like to repeat that Miss Loft?” She growled, I looked down and scratched the back of my head,

“W-Well, no. N-Not really Mrs Davids-“ I started but she cut me off,

“Principles office! Now!” She yelled pointing to the door. I quickly grabbed my stuff and hurried out of the room, no questions asked. Not even bothering to spare my friends one final glance.
As I walked down the empty hall, my anxiety grew. I came to the door that led to the office, I pushed, failing the first time but managed to gather enough strength to push open the door. I sat down on a chair in the waiting room,

“Excuse me Miss. But, do you have an appointment?” I heard a polite voice ask, I looked up and saw a woman with white hair ask. I smiled sheepishly and shook my head,

“No. I got sent to the principal’s office.” She nodded,

“I’ll inform him that you’re here.” I nodded,

“Thank you.” She smiled back and returned to her little room. I heard muffled talking from inside. I bit my lip, how much trouble would I get in this time. I was a good student; I was the top of my class for English, History and Music.

“He will be with you soon.” I looked up to see the white haired woman smiling at me from behind the door. I smiled back at her and nodded. She returned back to doing whatever it is she was doing, leaving me to my worries. After a few minutes, I saw a man in his mid forties walk in. He looked around the room; he saw me and smiled kindly,

“You must be Miss Loft.” I nodded, “Please, follow me.” I got up and quickly followed after him.
It was nerve wracking sitting in his large office; it was elegantly decorated in red and whites. Even though I was nervous, I couldn’t help but admire the effort that got put into his room. He cleared his throat, obliviously noticing me staring at everything. My head snapped to the front and I looked down embarrassed. There was a deep booming, I looked up to see the principle laughing at me. When he was done he was smiling and shaking his head,

“You’re not in trouble Alexis. Is it ok if I call you that?” I nodded, looking surprised,

“Why? I got sent to your office.” He shrugged,

“Technically you don’t go to this school anymore.” I gaped,

“W-What?! How is that possible?” He smiled at me fondly,

“A school called Hathaway High saw you’re results for your state tests. They were extremely impressed and decided to pull a few strings so they could take you.” I grinned,

“That’s great! When do I start classes there?” I asked, the principle scratched the back of his head, some of his excitement replaced with embarrassment,

“Well here’s the thing. You won’t be learning there. More like... teaching.” He looked up at me, my mouth hung open,

“B-But I’m only 17! I can’t teach! I haven’t even finished the school year yet!” The man laughed,

“That’s what I meant by they pulled a few strings. They got passed you’re age so you can legally work there.” My mouth returned to a flat line,

“Do I get paid?” he snorted,

“Of course you get paid.”

“Do you know how much?” He thought about it,

“I don’t know. I few hundred maybe...” My jaw once again dropped,

“A-A-A few hundred!” The principle shrugged,

“It’s one of them rich, private schools.” I nodded,

“Ok, but I have one more question. How will I complete my education?” The principle shrugged,

“That’s for you to figure out.” I nodded, “I’m going to have to know now. Sorry it’s such short notice but-“

“I’ll take it.” The principle looked at me surprised, then that was soon replaced with excitement,

“Alright. If you’ll just wait a moment, I’ll ring the school up.” I nodded; I found myself getting exited too. Ever since my mom and dad died, I’ve had no family and had to work part time jobs in order to feed myself and my little sister. She was 5 when our parents died, now that she’s14 it’s much harder to care for her and myself without getting put into adoption. I found myself lost in sad thoughts while my ex-principle chattered away into the phone.

“Yes, oh yes. I’ll be sure to let her know. Yes. Yes. Ok, thank you very very much. Goodbye.” He put the phone down and looked at me smiling, he stood up, I automatically stood up with him. He held out his hand and I took it awkwardly,

“I wish you the best of luck.” I grinned and nodded. “Shall I tell you’re classmates the news?” I thought about it, I finally nodded. He smiled,

“I’ll let them know now.” I nodded,

“Thank you Principle-“ I started,

“Call me John now Alexis.” I nodded,

“Uh, John.” I awkwardly fixed, he nodded. He turned to walk out of the room when he stopped,

“Oh that’s right. They told me to tell you that Hathaway High is a private all boys’ school for the teenagers who have committed a felony.” I froze up,

“A-A school for delinquents?” John nodded,

“Seems that way.” He then turned back and continued out of the room. Leaving me standing there wondering what I had gotten myself into.
