Marine's Daughter

Everything swam back into my head from the day before when I woke up. All the questions, the answers, the information that I received and even me getting angry then coming back up to my room. Last night I had said that today is a different day and I needed to move on so that is what I intended on doing. I flung the covers off my body and allowed the cool morning air wash over me. I stretched my joints while still in bed and groaned a little at how good it felt. I jumped out of bed and stretched again then walked over to the bathroom to take a shower. After doing everything I needed to do I walked out into the hallway when I realized something. The familiar smell of bacon, eggs, sausage and other breakfast delights didn’t hang in the air like every other morning. As I stood in the hallway I heard slight shuffling downstairs so I figured Emily was downstairs getting ready to start breakfast so I walked to my bedroom to get dressed. I dried off and slipped on my bra and panties then looked for something to wear. After I finished I blow dried my hair and left it down so I would become slightly wavy. I threw my dirty clothes in the clothes hamper behind my door and headed downstairs. As I looked around I didn’t see anybody down there. Emily wasn’t in the kitchen, there was no food on the table or counters, the guys weren’t in the living room then I realized what time it was, it was only six thirty. “Why the hell did I get up so early?” I asked to myself as I headed to the kitchen. I decided that I would play nice and make breakfast for Emily and everyone. I looked around for everything I was going to need then got started. I made eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, cut up fruit and put it into a large bowl, I made some steak since Sam loves steak and eggs. When I was almost done with the eggs I heard the floor board behind me creak scaring me slightly. I turned around with a gasp to see Sam and Emily standing on the other side of the counter. “Morning.” I smiled with the spatula in my hand.

“Uh morning. Olivia what are you doing?” Sam asked me slightly confused.

“What does it look like?” I asked turning back to the eggs to flip them over.

“I thought you were beyond pissed at all of us?” Emily said walking to my side of the counter.

“Well I was at first but as I thought everything I learned last night over, I realized that you guys didn’t mean to lie to me or betray me. Also I figured that I had a secret that was like that I probably would be hesitant to tell my friends too. So I decided that I was going to leave all that behind and start over today. It’s a new day so I figured I would start with breakfast.” I smiled at her. They didn’t say anything as I turned back around to grab the eggs and put them on a plate.

“We really are sorry for hiding it from you Olivia.” Sam said.

“It’s ok, would you mind helping me set the table? The guys should be here any second.” I said grabbing the plate of bacon, the bowl of fruit and the plate of eggs then walked to the table. Emily grabbed empty plates, cups, and silverware while Sam grabbed the rest of the food.

“It smells really good Olivia.” Emily smiled at me.

“Thanks…it’s nothing like your cooking but it’s food.” I said setting the food on the table. It wasn’t even a few seconds later when I heard hoot and hollers coming from the back and front yard.

“Hey Em…smells go-“ Quil started as he and the guys walked in and saw me.

“Morning guys.” I smiled at them as I went back to the kitchen to get milk and juice.

“Uh morning.” Embry said hesitantly as he and everyone sat at the table.

“Before anyone says or thinks anything…I have decided to forgive you all for lying to me and move on with it. Today is a new day so let’s put that behind us.” I said looking at everyone. They all nodded and started to fill their plates with food. A few minutes later the house was full of chit chat and laughter from all of us. Breakfast was amazing.

“That was really good Em.” Seth said licking his fingers.

“You should be saying that to Olivia. She’s the one that cooked.” Emily said pointing at me with her fork. All their heads turned and looked at me.

“No need to thank me, it was my pleasure.” I said standing up to start cleaning up when I was stopped.

“You cooked now let me clean up.” Emily said.

“No I got it.” I replied.

“Olivia, let me clean up. Why don’t you go down to the beach with the boys for a little while? I know you’ve been dying to see it since you got here.” She said standing up to take the plate that was in my hand.

“Well I do want to see it but are you sure it won’t bother you?” I asked hesitantly.

“Not at all. Now go.” She smiled.

“Ok.” I smiled back giving her a hug. “Oh Jared…call kim and see if she wants to meet us there.” I said then darting up to my room to put my tiny bikini on then slipped my clothes back on over it. I grabbed a towel from the bathroom, my flip flops and headed back down to meet the boys. I saw that they were standing out in the front yard so I ran through the front door then jumped on Embry’s back since he was facing the other direction. “Let’s go pony.” I said whirling my arm around in the air like a cowgirl. This caused all the guys to laugh, they laughed even harder when Embry started to gallop up the driveway toward the road. I laughed the entire way with the guys running next to us. “Jare…is kim coming?” I asked as we made it to a bath through some trees.

“She’s babysitting her cousin today so she said she would take a rain check.” He said.

“Oh ok. That sucks that she cou-“ I started but stopped when we broke through the last few trees and onto the beach. “Oh my gosh.” I said jumping off Embry’s back and walked away from the trees. “This is AWESOME!!!” I yelled walking toward the water. Seagulls flew low to the water trying to get fish, the water crashed against the rocks a few feet away, and the sun was shining a little bit through the clouds.

“Come on, let’s find a spot to sit.” Jake’s voice appeared next to my ear. I nodded and we headed toward the part of the beach that had sand instead of pebbles. I laid my towel down on the sand and started slipping off my clothes to reveal my zebra print bikini. I was facing the beach as I did so when I heard loud wolf whistles I couldn’t help but blush and turn around to face the guys.

“Daaammmnnn Olivia. So that’s what you’ve been hiding under all those clothes?” Seth said winking at me.

“Shut up Seth.” I playfully glared at him.

“We’re gonna have to come swimming more often.” Embry said looking over my body making me glare at him. “Hey you told Seth to shut up, you didn’t say anything about me.” He said defending himself.

“Whatever. You can look but don’t touch.” I said turning to walk toward the water.

“You can count on that.” I heard one of them say then a smack and a yell. I giggled as I got to the edge of the water, sticking my toes in to see how cold it was. It wasn’t as cold as I thought it would be so I walked in deeper allowing it to swallow me up.

~Jake’s P.O.V~
As we watched Olivia glare at Embry I had to resist from scooping her up, taking her away and having my way with her. “You can look but you can’t touch.” She said turning to walk toward the water.

“You can count on that.” Seth said. Paul and I both smacked him in the head causing him to yelp. Paul and I started to glare at each other until Quil broke out glaring competition.

“You guys need to tell her so you can get this whole fight over with.” He said as we headed toward the top of the cliff leaving Olivia at the beach but I kept an eye on her to make sure she was ok.

“Think she will be mad?” Seth asked.

“I have no idea. You saw how she reacted yesterday after we told her about everything.” I said with a sigh.

“Yeah…let’s not bring that up. Like Olivia said, It’s in the past so let’s start over. Now let’s enjoy the day.” Embry said. We all agreed as we got to the top of the cliff.

“Shall we?” Quil asked. We nodded and started jumping off the cliff one by one.

~Olivia’s P.O.V~
I came up from the water after getting used to it. I was about to yell for the guys to come in but when I turned back to the beach, they weren’t there. I started to look for them then I heard loud yells of excitement coming from the cliffs. I turned to see someone falling from them and I started to freak a little as the body came in contact with the water. I heard more hollers from the top and looked to see the gang cheering. “What the hell are they doing?” I asked swimming back to shallower water.

“It’s called cliff diving.” A voice called from behind me making me jump and squeal. I turned to see Quil swimming over to me.

“Where did you come from?” I asked. He turned and pointed to the top of the cliff where another one of them jumped off. “You were the one who jumped?” I asked shocked.

“Yeah. You wanna give it a try?” he asked.

“What jumping?” I asked shocked. He nodded his head and smiled. “Are you insane?” I looked at him which made him laugh.

“It’s not dangerous. Me and the guys do it all the time, Kim and Emily have even done it.” He said as we walked out of the water to stand on the beach.

“You gonna jump Olivia?” Jared asked running out of the water with a smile on his face.

“I don’t know. It looks like fun but I’m worried about a few things.” I said looking at the cliff.

“What’s that?” Quil asked.

“The cliff.” I said pointing to the jagged cliff side.

“Oh don’t worry about that. As long as you put enough force behind your jump you will be fine.” Jared said. I watched another one jumped off yelling.

“If I die it’s your faults since you convinced me.” I said pointing at them.

“We will take full responsibility for your death, which isn’t going to happen.” Jared said as we walked up the cliff. I snickered to myself and tried to get mentally prepared. When we were almost to the top Seth joined us with a smile.

“You jumping?” he asked smiling at me.

“These two convinced me.” I said climbing over a boulder.

“Nervous?” he asked jumping over a fallen tree.

“Kinda. Trying to mentally prepare myself for my death.” I said as we walked out of the trees.

“You won’t die.” He said running to the edge and jumping over.

“That kid is nuts.” I said. I noticed that Sam, Paul, Jake and Embry were the only ones still standing at the edge.

“Aren’t you guys going to jump?” I asked looking up at them. They looked at me with wide eyes.

“What are you doing up here?” Paul asked me with panic slightly in his eyes.

“Jumping.” I said walking to the edge and looked over. The water was calm, the cliff wasn’t as pointy and it was REALLY high up.

“Are you crazy?” Jake asked.

“As a psycho.” I laughed as I walked back a few feet then ran forward toward the edge. Paul tried to grab me but before he could I flung myself off the edge and fell toward the water. I let out a scream so loud that I didn’t even know I had. I looked down and realized the water was getting closer so I sucked in a breath and plugged my nose seconds before I plunged into the dark cold water. As I finally stopped falling I let go of my nose and started swimming back to the surface. As I broke to the surface I let out a gasp as I sucked in a deep breath then looked up to see the guys cheering. My heart was racing so hard that when I got back to the shallow part of the water I had so much adrenaline running through my veins that I ran back to the top as the rest of the guys jumped. When I got to the top I was grinning from ear to ear like an idiot. Paul was the only left at the top when I to the edge again.

“You really are crazy.” He laughed at me. The wind blew again my soaking wet body causing me to shake from the coldness.

“It’s getting cold, I think I’ve had enough for one day.” I said wrapping my arms around my body.

“Come here.” He said opening his arms. I hesitantly walked over to him and he wrapped his warm arms around me warming me up instantly.

“Is this one of your things too?” I asked.

“What?” he asked confused.

“Being hot.” I said looking out at the water.

“Nah, that’s just my thing.” He said cockily.

“Not that you moron, well you are hot but I meant your body heat.” I said poking his abs.

“Oh yea. It comes with the territory, 108 all year round.” He said.

“I could get used to that, especially in the winter.” I said taking a deep breath.

“What? Me being your personal space heater or my body being hot?” he asked. I laughed shaking my head against his chest.

“Both.” I said looking up at him. “We better head down.” I said pulling away from him.

“Yea…let’s go.” He said as we started walking down the cliff to join the rest of the gang. When we got there Embry, Jared and Seth were passing the football back and forth while Quil and Jake sat by my towel talking. Sam must have gone home after jumping. I jogged over to them and plopped down on my towel.

“HEY!” I yelled making them jump.

“DON’T DO THAT!!” Quil said playfully glaring at me.

“Sorry.” I laughed. Paul sat on the other side of me while I sat next to Jake and Quil next to him. “I have a question.” I said. They all looked at me with nervous expressions. “Don’t worry, I’m not gonna get mad again…it a curious question.” I said. They didn’t say anything obviously waiting for me to continue. “What are you guys exactly? I never did find that out.” I said.

“Well the politically correct term is shape shifters who shift into wolves, but we’ve been known to be called werewolves.” Quil answered leaning forward to look at me around Jake.

“That’s kinda fascinating. What’s it like? Turning into a wolf I mean?” I asked curiously.

“Depends on the day I think. Some days is great being on all fours, running at inhuman speeds, not to mention being able to read each other’s minds. But others is sucks because of all the patrolling, reading each other’s thoughts that you don’t want to be read.” Paul answered.

“So you guys are mentally connected when you’re in your wolf forms?” I asked.

“Pretty much.” Embry said as he, Seth and Jared joined us.

“So…what do you call yourselves? A gang? A pack?” I asked.

“Pack.” They all answered.

“I remember reading somewhere about wolves for one of my home school classes that wolves usually have alpha and betas and stuff. Do you guys have that too?” I asked curiously looking at them.

“Yeah. Sam is the alpha or the leader of the group and Jake is the beta the second in charge. Jake was supposed to be alpha since he has a direct line to the blood line.” Jared said.

“Why aren’t you?” I asked looking at him.

“Sam changed first and I kinda didn’t want to be alpha.” He answered looking at me.

“Why not? It sounds like it would be fun, be in charge and boss everyone around.” I replied smiling.

“That’s why I didn’t wanna be alpha. The pressure of being in charge of all these knuckle heads. So I let Sam take over.” He answered.

“Oh I see.” I smiled. "So Quil, Jared…what’s imprinting like?” I asked looking at the two. I saw Jake and Paul tense when I asked just I didn’t pay it any attention.

“It’s different for us since he imprinted on a four year old but there are still some similarities. I personally love it because Kim is such an amazing girl. We’ve been dating long enough that I think I didn’t imprint on her I would still love her with all my heart and want to be with her for the rest of my life.” Jared said looking at me with a goofy smile.

“Awwww…so does the imprintee feel the same way back. Like do they feel the pull that you guys feel?” I asked.

“When I told Kim everything she said that she felt the same thing. Butterflies in her stomach, like she was being pulled toward me, like it was meant to be, like she had to be near me at all times to be happy.” He said obviously thinking about Kim. As he said that I couldn’t help but think of Jake and Paul because I’ve felt the same way toward them. Like I had to see their face or I would die. I fell into a silence as I looked out at the water thinking. They talked amongst themselves. I wonder if either of them imprinted on me? I mean cause everything I’ve learned about imprinting was how I felt when I looked at them. Could they have? Was it even possible for two of them to imprint on the same person? “Can two of you imprint on the same girl?” I asked out of the blue silencing them but I kept my eyes on the water. After a few seconds of not getting an answer I looked away from the water and turned my attention to them. I saw everyone looking at Paul and Jake. “Well, can ya?” I asked nobody in particular. Jake looked behind me to Paul and I suddenly felt awkward.

“Would you guys mind giving us a few minutes?” Jake asked turning to the guys. They nodded their heads and stood up then left leaving me, Jake and Paul on the beach sitting side by side.

“Ok, what’s going on?” I asked nervously.

“We have something to tell you but we don’t fully understand it ourselves since it’s never happened before to a pack in a while.” Paul said as I looked at him.

“Ok, shoot.” I said getting on my knees to turn and face them with my back to the water.

“We don’t know how it’s possible but both of us imprinted on you.” Jake said.

“So now that that explains my feeling, what do you mean it’s never happened to a pack in a while?” I asked.

“Sam asked my dad and he said that it’s only happened once before. Since two members of the pack imprinted on the same girl they ended up having to have a duel. Basically fight for her.” Paul explained.

“In the end it would be hers, yours, decision on who you want to be with.” Jake said.

“No pressure there.” I said with a small laugh. “Is that why you both have been trying to kill each other when one of you sees the other with me?” I asked.

“Yeah…you noticed huh?” Paul asked.

“The other night kinda made it obvious.” I said looking at them as I imagined their angered wolf faces snarling at each other. “Oh by the way…your wolf forms are amazing.” I smiled at them.

“Sorry about the other night and thank you.” Jake said.

“You’re welcome. That night after I went to my room…did you guys get into a fight?” I asked. They didn’t respond but they did nod their heads. “So…now what?” I asked. They looked at each other and shrugged.

“I don’t know. Sam said that if we fight each other we would also be hurting you since its part of the whole imprinting thing.” Paul said.

“What do you mean?” I asked confused.

“Say if Jared got hurt, Kim would feel something. It would kill her to know that Jared was hurt and vice versa. So if I hurt him…I would also hurt you. If he hurt me he would also hurt you and that would kill us to know that we were hurting you.” Jake explained.

“So what are we supposed to do?” Paul asked.

“Hell if I know…I’ve never had two guys fight over me before.” I laughed. “And it doesn’t help matters that I like both of you.” I smiled.

“I guess it doesn’t help that we both imprinted on you.” Paul laughed.

“Yeah…this is one strange love triangle.” I said.

“Nothing is weirder than Jake’s love triangle with Bella and Edward.” Paul said. I heard Jake growl and glare at him.

“That is none of your business.” He growled.

“Can’t you just focus on Bella and leave Olivia alone so it won’t be so hard for her to make up her mind?” Paul glared back.

“Can’t you focus on one of those slut you sleep with all time and let her be with me?” Jake retorted as the two of them stood up getting face to face.

“Guys stop.” I said standing up and pushing them away. “Calm down or I won’t choose either of you.” I said looking up at them. They continued to glare at each other and then started to shake. “I have an idea.” They both looked at me and stepped a few inches from each other. “How about over the next few weeks you both try to show me why I should pick you. Every other day I will spend the day with one of you, then the next day the other then we repeat. After two weeks I will make my decision.” I said looking up at them.

“That seems fair.” Paul said. I looked at Jake and he just shook his head.

“Ok, we will start Monday. Now before this turns into a fight about who goes first we will do it fifth grade style.” I said looking at them. “Pick a number between one and fifty.” I said thinking of my number. Thirty seven, it was my lucky number. “Jake?” I said.

“Uhh...thirty four.” He said. I nodded my head and looked at Paul.

“Forty.” He said.

“Damn it…you both were close. It was thirty seven. Alright, let’s do this again.” I said. This time I chose fifteen.

“Twenty nine.” Jake said.

“Eleven.” Paul answered.

“My number was fifteen. Paul and I will spend Monday together then Tuesday, Jake and I will spend the day together. Deal?” I asked. They both nodded their heads and looked at the ground. Paul was smiling obviously since he got to go first. “Ok, now. Let’s get back to Emily’s, I’m starving.” I said grabbing my clothes and getting redressed. The waited for me to get my stuff together before we started walking back. I looked at them a few times and they were clearly thinking, probably about what they could do to win me over. As we got closer to the house I could hear shouting from inside which worried me since the one yelling was Seth and I’ve never seen him yell or heard him before so it was weird.

“IT’S NOT MY FAULT THE FREAKING LEECH GOT IN MY WAY!!” Seth yelled as Jake, Paul and I walked through the front door. I walked into the living room to see Seth and Embry face to face.

“SHE TRIED TO WARN YOU NOT TO GET TO CLOSE AND YOU DIDN’T LISTEN!!”Embry yelled back.

“WHAT IS GOING ON!?” trying to make my voice heard over all the yelling.

“We had a small leech problem at the treaty line. Alice and Jasper caught a scent and came to warn us. Alice said not to get to close to the leech that left the scent because there were two or three.” Sam said sitting on the couch.

“You guys met up with the Cullens?” Jake asked. Cullens? That name sounded familiar.

“We were gonna come get you two but we heard you three talking about the imprinting situation so Sam told us to leave you alone.” Quil said.

“So then what happened?” Jake asked becoming beta. It kinda turned me on seeing him like this. He straightened his posture, his voice deepened and his facial expression changed too, like I’m in charge. It was really sexy.

“Seth caught the scent and didn’t listen to Alice so when he got to close the leeches friends attacked but no one got hurt but they got away.” Jared said. Where had I heard that name before? Alice? Alice Cullen? The only Alice Cullen I knew lived in New York with her family. Could it be the same?

“She had a vision a few days ago about them but said that they weren’t coming here, then they suddenly changed their minds.” Seth said turning his attention from Embry.

“Who is Alice? Who are the Cullens?” I asked.

“The Cullens are a coven of vampires that live north of Forks. Alice is one of the vampires, she has visions about people she watches and they change when they change their mind.” Jake explained. I looked up at him with a confused look on my face.

“Alice? Alice Cullen? Could it be?” I whispered to myself.

“What are you whispering?” Embry asked looking at me.

“Hold on, I’ll be right back.” I turned on my heels and ran up to my room. I grabbed my laptop and quickly turned it on then looked through my pictures for a particular picture. When I found it I ran back downstairs carrying my laptop in my hands. “Is this the Alice you’re talking about?” I asked sitting my laptop on the coffee table and turning it around so everyone could see it. When they looked at it several of them growled or gasped.

“You know Alice Cullen?” Paul asked through gritted teeth.

“I met her three years when i went to Italy. You remember me telling you about going?” I asked. They all nodded their heads. “Well when we were there I was walking around in one of the shopping areas when I accidently ran into her. We got to talking and hung out during my trip.” I explained.

“You actually hung out with a leech?” Jared asked.

“Alice isn’t a vampire.” I said closing my laptop.

“Yeah she is. Think about what we told you yesterday, cold, hard as stone, extremely beautiful.” Quil said. As I thought about it those qualities fit Alice except for one.

“Her eyes weren’t red.” I said.

“That’s because her and the coven only drink animal blood which causes their eyes to be a golden color.” Jake said. I looked at him like he had five heads. Well…that explains why she freaked out when I fell and cut my hand on a rock, why she had to suddenly, why she was always wearing sunglasses even when the sun wasn’t out.

“I wanna see her.” I said suddenly causing everyone to look at me like I had just grown a tail and horns.

“What?” Paul said.

“I want to see her.” I repeated.

“You can’t do that.” Jake said.

“And why not?” I asked.

“Well for one she is a vampire, she could kill you in a matter of seconds, two, it’s dangerous. And three…well I can’t think of a third one but the other two are good reasons.” Paul said making me laugh a little.

“Fine I will just cancel the date and Jake will go first.” I said.

“Are you black mailing me?” he asked playfully glaring at me.

“Depends…do I see her or not?” I asked.

“Fine…only if Jake and I can go. Can’t lose our imprint to them.” He said.

“Yay!!!” I said jumping up and down.

“I’ll go call them and tell em we are bringing a tag along tomorrow.” Jake said. I couldn’t wait to see her. A few minutes later Emily called us to the kitchen for dinner. As we ate everyone talked, joked, laughed, and asked about how were settled everything with the whole imprint thing with me, Jake and Paul. I told them everything and they were impressed by my negotiating skills. After dinner the guys went out to patrol and I helped Emily clean up even though she protested a little but I ended up winning. After we finished up I headed upstairs and took a shower then headed to bed since I was extremely tired from cliff diving and swimming.
