Keeps Getting Better- NOT!

"Your boyfriend’s family seems kinda strange," I informed Bella during the drive home. "I think I pissed off Jasper. He looked like he wanted to shoot me or something. Rosalie seems alright, though."
"Rosalie likes you for some odd reason. She normally hates everyone except her family. She doesn't even like me all that much."
"That's because you're too nice. Rosalie and I get along because we are both bitches."
"You're not a-" she began.
"Whoa! Who's Rabbit?" I interrupted when I spotted the Volkswagen parked in our driveway.
"Oh. That's Jacob's. I guess he and Billy came to watch the game with dad." She didn’t sound at all surprised.
"Well doesn't this day just get better and better. I go visit your boyfriend's family and then Charlie's friends come over. Just great. How the hell does that little punk have such a nice car?"
"He built it himself," Bella answered as I was admiring the car.
I stopped dead in my tracks. "You have got to be shitting me."
"Is it really that impossible to believe?" Jacob said from the porch. His arms were crossed and he had a smirk plastered on his face.
"Actually, it is," I muttered. Bella smiled slightly then went inside to leave me and Jacob alone. Jacob walked over to lean on the hood of the Rabbit. I stood with my arms crossed. "How good does it run?"
"Great."
"How fast?"
"Fastest I've gone is 88."
I smirked. "Pop the hood open?"
He stared at me like I was crazy. "What?"
"Are you deaf? I said to open the hood. I want to see if your engine would be able to handle me driving it."
He laughed for a moment before his humor fell. "You're serious?"
I rolled my eyes. "No fuck." He finally popped the up the hood and I took the opportunity to check out his car. "Not bad."
"You know about cars?"
"Yep. Bella's the one who can only name the make and model of a slugbug. I know a few things," I answered checking the oil level. Well, I should know considering I like to steal them sometimes- just the really fast ones, though. And hot wiring’s a skill I pride myself on, but he doesn't need to know that or I might never get my hands on the car. "Come on. Let's go for a drive."
He smiled and crawled into the passenger's seat. I peeled out of the driveway and we tore down the road. Once we were out of the town limits, I pushed the gas pedal so we were soon going 100. "Where'd you learn about cars?"
I snuck a glance at Jacob. It really wasn’t a good idea to tell anyone about my stealing cars so I answered vaguely, "Um, some friends in Phoenix taught me. Then I learned more while I was in Jacksonville."
"So you're just like Mikaela on Transformers."
I glared at him. "Do NOT compare me to Megen Fox." I seriously hated that stupid actress but Jake’s description was pretty accurate, as much as I hated to admit it. I turned the radio onto full blast before he could say anymore because I didn’t like comparing myself to someone I couldn’t stand.
Paramore's I Caught Myself was playing when I heard something howl in the forest. Jacob's head shot up and I actually slowed to a decent speed and turned to radio down. "What was-" I slammed on the brakes as a black wolf the size of a bear ran into the middle of the road. It's brown eyes looked at me then Jacob. I saw Jacob's eyes grow wide. "What the hell?! What is a damned wolf running out in the middle of the road like that for?!" I screamed.
"Lizzy, calm down. Everything's going to be OK."
"Yeah right." My heart was pounding and I was hyperventilating. The wolf took one last look at Jacob before running into the woods.
"Liz, why don't you let me drive back? I really don't want you to crash my car."
I glared for a second. "Fine," I snapped. My shaky hand hesitated on the handle. I wasn't sure if I wanted to get out of the car with a wild animal that big roaming around. Jacob must have read my thoughts because he said, "The wolf is long gone. It wouldn't hurt you anyway.”
"Yeah, yeah. Anything that big just screams danger."
Jacob laughed. "It's used to people. Let's just get you back home."
The car ride home was silent. When we got back, Jacob whispered a few things to Billy and they both left. I figured it was about the wolf we’d seen and I was a little curious to know what Jacob said to make them leave so quickly but shock kept me from asking.
After they had left and Dad went upstairs, Bella and I lounged on the couch to watch Stick It. "I love this movie," I said stuffing popcorn into my mouth.
"Glad you're eating something," Bella muttered. I ignored her.
"I think Haley's friends are so cool. The blond one's hot (Kellan Lutz!) Plus, combine Haley and Joanne and you get me."
Bella rolled over to look at me. "What do you mean?"
"Well, I have Haley's disregard for the law which got me sent away. And I have Joanne's bitchiness," I replied with a smirk. "But I couldn't do gymnastics to save my life and I like motorcycles instead of regular bikes."
"Motorcycles? Can you ride one."
Oops. "Uh, no," I lied easily. "I've never been on one 'cause Dad would kill me. I want to, though."
"Oh. Just checking."
I sighed. Sometimes she can act like such a mother. We watched a few more movies until Bella decided it was time for bed. Like I said, she is such a mom.
Around midnight, I snuck down to the kitchen so that no one would hear me. I used an average steak knife to break open the soft skin on my arm. As I watched the scarlet drops go down the sink, I made my stomach throw up the popcorn I'd eaten. I looked toward the backyard and I could've sworn I saw something by the window.

JACOB'S POV
Lizzy and I had been driving towards La Push when Sam burst through the trees. "What the hell?! What is a damned wolf running out in the middle of the road like that for?!" she shouted.
"Lizzy, calm down. Everything's going to be OK."
"Yeah right." I could hear her heart pounding like crazy and she had her hand over her chest. Her eyes were frozen widen in fright. Sam glanced at me one more time then ran into the woods. I hoped she didn't notice that.
"Liz, why don't you let me drive back? I really don't want you to crash my car," I suggested. I couldn't really care less about the car. I was worried that she would get hurt if she wrecked it.
She shot me a glare for my suggestion. "Fine," she spat.
She reached to open the door but her fingers hesitated on the handle. Her eyes darted toward where Sam had disappeared and I knew what she was thinking. "The wolf is long gone. It wouldn't hurt you anyway."
"Yeah, yeah. Anything that big just screams danger."
I laughed. At least one of the Swan girls knows what real trouble is and doesn't go chasing it. Lizzy should really be giving Bella advice on how to stay alive. Survival tip number one: stay away from big wolves and vampires. "It's used to people. Let's just get you back home."
We rode back to Charlie's in silence. I told Billy that Sam wanted me and we left quickly. I didn't want to leave Lizzy, but I knew Sam needed me. It was really hard not to think about her during my patrol. At around midnight I was on my own. I found myself back at Lizzy's house and peeked through the window of the back door. I could make out Lizzy's silhouette by the sink. I smelt blood and vomit and my eyes widened in horror. I ran away, refusing to believe that she had done that to herself.
