Make Me Better

Chapter 13

"I'm getting my things." She said simply. She was acting normal as if nothing had happened.

"Where are you going to stay?" I asked. Not that I cared or anything.

"New York."

I asked where you were going to stay not where you were going to be God. I sat still and turned around. Facing the window with my back to her.

She sighed, "Are you going to stay with your father?"

"Yes, why would I want to go with you?" I snapped. I can't believe she had the nerve to even ask me that. Why the hell would I want to stay with her?

"Olive, do not-"

"Don't tell me what to do." I breathed out. I just wanted her to leave me alone. She had that look on her face. That look that told me that I was in trouble.

"Can you just go, please? I don't want to see you...." I said angrily, " Ever." That seemed to get her attention. I watched as her facial features changed. Her mouth formed into a frown and it looked as if she was going to cry.

"Ugh!" I groaned as she made no movement to leave my room. I stood up and walked past her quickly.

"Olive, come back." I heard her say from behind me. I ignored her and walked out the house. I walked quickly just in case she decided to come out. I had no clue where I was going. I just needed to get away from her. I pushed my hands into my pockets. I had enough to get something to eat.

I really wanted to call my dad and vent but that wouldn't help any. I kept walking until I spotted a restaurant. I walked in and was greeted by warmth and happy chattering. I decided to sit way in the back.

"Stalker!" I turned my head to see Frank. He was with Jenna. I didn't want to be around anyone.

I was racking my mind for an excuse to leave.

"Olive? You ok?" Frank asked. I was taking too long to respond.

"What? Yeah, I'm fine." I nodded. I turned my head towards the entrance. It would probably be weird if I just got up and left.

"I gotta pee." I said. I stood up and walked towards the girls bathroom. It was right by the entrance, lucky me. I walked out quickly.

Well, explaining this to Frank would be fun. I didn't want to to go back home so I had to think of another place to go.

"Lindsey!" I hollered. She opened the door quickly.

"Olive!" She pulled me into a hug. We walked up to her room where Gee was laying on the floor reading a Batman comic.

"Yo." He greeted.

I laughed. "Hey."

Lindsey and I watched tv while Gerard stayed put and kept reading.

"Yo, midget keeps calling me. Something about you." Gee said.

"Why do you keep saying 'yo'?' Lindsey asked.

"Something about who?" I asked.

"You." Gee answered.

"Why?" I asked.

"Girl, I don't know. Why don't you call him?"

"Gerard, what is with you today?" Lindsey asked with a laugh. Gee laughed and tossed his phone onto the bed.

"Call him." He said.

"I don't fee like it." I said casually. Hoping they wouldn't sense my nervousness.

"What, why?" Lindsey asked. Never mind.

"What?" I asked. " I just don't want to call him right now. He's on date with Jenna."

"So? He wants to talk to you." Gee said.

"I don't see why." I mumbled. I really didn't. What could he possibly want to talk about? Maybe he wanted to make fun of me for leaving the diner. That was funny, right?

"I'll call him when I get home." I said. Gee nodded and returned to reading. We got bored so we decided to watch a movie. Gee picked the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Once the movie was over I thought it would be a good idea to go home. I gave her enough time to get her crap and leave. I said my goodbyes and walked home. It was a far walk but I didn't mind. Half of me was expecting my mom to be waiting for me. Someone was waiting, on the porch but it wasn't my mom. It was Frank. He was sitting on steps with his elbows resting on his knees.

"What are you doing here?" I asked as I approached him. He looked up quickly.

"Why are you ignoring my phone calls?"

I sighed, " I left my phone at home."

"Yeah? I called Gee, he said you were with him. Couldn't you have called me from his phone?"

"Why are you calling in the first place?" I asked. I walked past him and up to the door. I dug my keys out and opened the door. Frank followed me in. I stood in the hallway looking over everything.

"Well, you guys haven't settled in, have you?" Frank asked. We were settled in. It just looked so empty because my mom took almost everything!

"Uh yeah." I nodded.
I turned around to look up at Frank. "Can you just go,please?"

Frank furrowed his eyebrows as he stared at me intensely.

I just wanted to be alone just like I had said before. I didn't want comfort or any of that sort thing. I wanted to be alone.

"Frank, please!" I said with more urgency.

"What's wrong?" He asked. I didn't say anything. I walked away from and him and started to make my way towards my room.

"Nothing, you can go now." I said loudly. He didn't listen to me, of course. I heard his footsteps right behind me.

"Frank!" I groaned, "Why don't you go be with Jenna or something? Why are you even here?"

"This isn't about Jenna, is it?"

"No!" How could he think that. I could care less about the girl "This is about me wanting to be alone."

"Oli-"

"I'm being serious." I felt the hot angry tears rolling down my face. I flinched as Frank got closer. Why couldn't he just leave me alone?

"Tell me what's wrong?" He leaned forward to wipe away my tears.

"Nothing." I shook my head and slapped his hands away.

"Why won't you just tell me? There is something obviously wrong if you're crying." He was starting at me with so much intensity that it started to make me feel uncomfortable.

God, what did I have to say for him to leave me alone?
"Why don't you believe me?"

"Because I can tell when you're lying." Frank whispered.

"It's nothing you need to worry about." I retorted fiercely. I know that Frank only wanted to help but I didn't need anyone to help me. No one could help.

He sighed. His phone started to ring loudly. He pulled it out. I turned back around and walked into my room. I was so close to slamming it but Frank made it in before I could do so. I groaned softly.

"Aren't you going to answer that?" I asked. He shook his head. "It's Jenna."

"Yeah? Shouldn't you answer it with you being her boyfriend and all?" I asked. The phone kept ringing. It was really starting to annoy me.

"Answer the freaking phone." I said in an annoyed tone.

"What am I supposed to say? I ditched you because I came to see my best friend who won't even tell me what's wrong?" I could tell that he was annoyed.

"Why would you ditch her!? I didn't ask you to come over, did I?"

"You just fucking left. I could tell that something was wrong. I came over here to see-"

"My mom cheated on my dad and they're getting a divorce,ok? There. That's what's wrong." I said quickly.
