'Safe' Is Not A Word In My Vocabulary

Chapter 45

“Happy birthday!” the pack cheered when Jake walked in on his eighteenth. He rolled his eyes but grinned at us. He had protested a party, but of course no one had listened to him.

Our house was filled with werewolves and vampires, a cake that Esme had brought over earlier sat on a huge table set up in the dining room. Edward cooked it, and Esme and Alice along with Kim and Emily had decorated it.

It was a four layered green cake with a pack of wolves sculpted from this edible modeling clay and incing at the top, and edible trees surrounding them. The sides had skittles in row up the sides in a complicated patten but I think that Emily and Kim had done that to mess with me.

Anthony was playing with Claire and Quil was supervising as they raced with little toy cars Ant got.

K-9, Crusher, Damien and Ammo were already eating, making me roll my eyes at them. Seth held Renesmee in his lap so she could watch the mini race and Bella hovered nearby, with Edward attached to her hip.

Alice, Kim Esme, and Emily were in the den talking about the baby shower for Emily, where MTV music videos were on. Jasper, Emmett and Paul were outside in the snow wrestling over who knows what.

I was right in my prediction and we didn’t get a lot this year, the most was a foot or two, a very small amount for Washington.

Rosalie was here, a little away from the rest of us, and silent but we understood how uncomfortable she was to be here at all and let it go.

Carlisle was having a conversation with Sam and I smiled at the thought that we could all get along now.

Bree was talking mostly to me, and Leah (who she had learned to love like a big sister) when she wasn’t dancing and Jacob refused to leave me for even a few seconds the entire time. I knew he was thinking the same thing I was, that as soon as everyone left, I would get him to myself again.

Anthony abandoned the race and crawled over to the two of us. He sat in front of us and held his arms above his head “Daddy!” he whined in his baby voice.

I smiled and Jake leaned down to pick him up.

He had said his first few words at least two weeks ago, and it pleased Jacob beyond words that Daddy was his first. He learned ‘momma’ next, and then ‘wolf’ most recently. I was sure Jacob was scared of his progress though, with how fast Anthony was growing, we might have to leave Forks and La Push.

The Cullen’s already had.

The story for the town was that Edward and Bella went to Dartmouth and that the Cullen’s moved back to Alaska.

The first part was true, but the Cullen’s didn’t know where they were going to move yet, and Edward and Bella were actually taking Seth with them.

That might’ve seemed weird considering Renesmee was technically his niece, but it was obvious to all of us they’d never be romantic imprints. Seth was really only going because he just couldn’t stand to be away from her.

“Centhua bring the boys in here before they break something,” Bree called cheerily cutting the cake.

I stepped away from Jake and Ant, and jogged outside. The snow melted some under my feet, but not completely and I jumped into the wrestling match. I pinned Paul down and the two Cullen boys backed off.

I released him and glided back to the house.

“Stop wrestling and come inside, it’s time for cake.” I said, causing Paul to immedietly jog towards the house and Jasper and Emmett to roll their eyes and follow. Everyone sang once the rest of us came in, and Jake rolled his eyes, grimacing, before blowing out his candles. I made sure Emily got lots of pictures of that, seeing as I would be teasing him mercilessly later.

Jacob’s POV

The party could not go by fast enough.

The cake was good, and I appreciated the effort they put out, but I was finally eighteen and I just wanted to be able to kiss my fiancée and get carried away without having any consequences.

Anthony smiled at me, and clapped along while everyone sang, sometimes out of tune but he made a sort of background sound. I was smiling at him the whole time, holding Cent’s waist while blowing out my candles. I wasn’t even sure if it counted, seeing as they had distrubuted the cake before hand. And I didn’t have anything to wish for, I had everything I’d ever wanted right now, but I tried anyways.

I wished I would never have to say goodbye to Centhua again.

I would never have to leave her for anything, and if another fight came, that neither one of us would stay behind. We would fight together or not at all.

That might’ve been more than one, but I really only cared about the first part, the rest was just an afterthought really. Edward grinned at me for it, and his arm tightened around his own wife’s shoulders while everyone clapped and Centhua kissed me quickly.

I smiled at her, feeling anticipation knot in my stomch before I cleared my head. Just a few more hours, I’ve waited nearly two long years I can wait for a few more hours.

I hope.

Centhua’s POV

“Don’t give her that,” Damien scolded when Edward passed me a piece of cake covered in skittles. I growled at him, not as playfully as I meant to while Damien just rolled his eyes.

“You won’t be sleeping tonight if you eat that much,” he muttered, and it was easy to tell, with him being the big brother, and the uncle, why he wanted me to sleep. That just made me grin though and shove a bigger piece in my mouth.

Jacob chuckled and ruffled my hair where we sat on the couch now. “That’s my girl,” he chuckled; I bit his fingers when he stroked my cheek. He laughed and I grinned, K-9 joining our little group “Jakey finally getting lucky?” he teased in a sing-song voice.

I threw a pillow at him, making him get up and mock-run, screaming “NOT THE CAKE!”

Two hours after everyone left, the mess was cleaned, Anthony was with Leah and K-9, and Jake and I were alone.

Finally.

He paused, looking to where we had just finished putting up the rest of the party remains and then at me.

I only barely had enough time to brace myself before he shoved me into the wall and kissed me hard. His tongue ran through my mouth and he gripped at my waist, pinning me to the wall and nearly crushing me but I liked it.

Like last time, he lifted me up and carried me to the bed, but unlike last time I didn’t try to run just to be teasing.

I needed him too much right now for that.

This was the most either of us had lost control in ages, the most we’d kissed, the most we’d touched…it was almost selfish to make him wait for it, before, but now we could celebrate; the sentence was over.

I woke up in the morning, laying across Jacob’s chest, his arms wrapped tightly around my waist and his head buried in the crook of my neck. I felt soar all over, and I wouldn’t be wearing any v-neck or lower-cut shirts for a few days, but I’d survive.

Jacob blinked awake and I felt his eyelashes brush against my neck and his arm tighten on me, if possible while he shifted to the side.

“Morning,” he whispered huskily in my ear, I turned in his arms and kissed him slowly and deliberately. “Morning,” I mumbled back. I snuggled closer to him, my bare legs entitwined with his as I did so and he ran his hands through my hair.

It was silent for a long time, long enough for the clouds to shift and allow a small amount of sunlight to peak through. Eventually I sighed before twisting out of his grip and sitting up. The blanket pooled around my waist when I stretched my arms and Jacob eyed me hungrily.

He sat up too but before he could grab me I stood up, and I stepped out of the way. Laughing at his expression, I walked backwards until I was up against the nearest wall. “We have to get Anthony later,” I warned, him. He pouted, but didn’t make any move to stop me as I went to get my towel and such for my shower. He did follow me, but I had no objection to that.

When our shower was done our lips, and some parts of my skin were bruised and my hair was so tangled even the hot water couldn’t save it much.

I managed anyways and got dressed while Jacob lounged lazily on the bed, only in his boxers. When I was done he came and wrapped his arms around me from behind and kissed his way down my neck, biting softly in some places while his hands wandered.

“Haven’t you had enough?” I panted, while he sucked on my throat, shifting my chain with my ring on it that I had put on. I didnt feel like having it on my finger today.

He released me somewhat and I turned around in his arms. “Never,” he said stubbornly.

I laughed and shoved him, grabbing my keys while he pulled on a shirt and some jeans. I waited for him in the car and we drove in silence.

Pulling up to Leah’s and K-9’s, I could see Anthony looking out the window, and I smiled. Jacob walked up first and I followed behind, Leah throwing open the door and gushing about how cute he was when he did this or that.

I listened to her partially, going over and picking my toddler up and kissing his nose. Jacob fell into the couch beside K-9, who was watching the whole exchange with a distant expression.

He wore it the whole time we were there and before we left I finally remebered why.

I cast him a sympathetic glance before leaving and he looked away. There was nothing but sadness in his eyes but when we were leaving Jacob finally took notice.

“What was that about,” he muttered, buckling Anthony in while he played with his hat. I sighed, sitting in passenger cause’ Jacob was already on the drivers side.

“His little sister Miranda, died when she was nine, today actually. K-9 was only twelve and he tried to stop his dad from beating her to death.”

Jacob was quiet, a frown puckering on the edge of his lips while he thought about that. “That’s why he is the way he is, he got shoved around from foster home to foster home before he finally just broke out and joined the gang. His little sister was all he had to live for, and she was gone.”

Jacob stared at me out he corner of his eye, driving slower than usual while I stared back. I waited for him to say something, but he waited too.

We were nearly home before the silence was finally broken, “That’s why he and you are so close,” he muttered. I just shrugged as we pulled onto the street leading to our driveway. “Damien and I always thought so,” I said playing wih my hair.

Anthony clapped his hands and kicked his feet from behind us while I smiled back at him.

“Wolf,” he whined, pronouncing it perfectly. I laughed at him and reached back to ruffle his hair. He and Kim were two of a kind, always breaking tensions.

“Wan to take Ant for a run daddy?” I asked teasingly. Jacob laughed deep in his throat and pulled up to the house. “Sure, mind making lunch?”

I rolled my eyes stepping out, Anthony clapping again, knowing he was getting what he wanted. “I was going to have to anyways,” I sang, dancing inside while Jake and Anthony went on their way.

Alice and Bree came over later all smiles and cheer while Jacob sat next to me. Anthony was sleeping, seeing as running had made him tired.

I looked up wearily when the two of them came in.

Alice laughed at my expression and Bree clapped hapily, flitted to my side. “It’s time to start the official wedding plaaning, and you already got some so no stalling.”

Obviously she was reffering to Jacob being a legal adult; I flushed and Jacob chuckled, while I waited to endure whatever the two vampires threw at me.

It was hard, I wasn’t good with this mushy emotional stuff, and I honestly didn’t know anything about weddings. Luckily though, the girls did, and they heped me out when I was really out of my element.

There were a few tough decisions to make, like who was going to be what. Bridesmaid, maid of honor, (Is there even a difference!?!) flower girl and best man blah blah blah. I wasn’t very choosy, but I had so many people who I was close to that I didn’t want to leave out.

Easier things to choose were color schemes, we just picked my three favorite flowers and used that for ‘inspiration’ as the girls insisted on calling it. Whatever, all I know is that the colors were yellow, blue and white. For roses, calla lillies, and this blue flower that looks like a star I cant pronounce. Chionodoxa is how it’s spelled, and Alice seemed to know what it was.

Choosing a date was easy as well, seeing as Alice had a prediction on just how long it’d take to actually pull a wedding together. I don’t care what Jacob had said before about not letting her plan, she’s dedicated.

Or maybe crazy was the right word, I’m pretty sure she could’ve made any of those Bridezilla’s on TV fall for her, and turn into sweethearts. Of course, a little drama was funny once in a while, (as long as it was happening to someone else of course.)

But even with her flawlessness and Bree’s eager helpfulness in translating the technical stuff, I was exhausted by the time they finished.

The two of them left around seven, and Anthony had been sleeping since three. I skipped out on dinner, just making Jacob’s while he protested weakly saying I should eat, and then I went to sleep.

This marriage stuff was going to be even harder than I first thought.
