Always Something More

John's POV

I wasn't sure what I was feeling. I was nervous but what if she wasn't there then I felt hurt and mad that she didn't even care to come. But what if she did come and I didn't know so that made me even more worse. All I could think about now was getting a drink and getting relaxed.

“John, were talking about John fucking O'Callaghan.” I was getting closer and closer to the bar area when I heard a familiar girls voice yell out my name.

“Yeah?” I said once I saw Kennedy talking to two girls, one of them I just met and she was annoyed fan girl.

The other girl turned around and look as beautiful as the last time I saw her. Once her eyes hit mine her smile faded but I could see that she was happy to be here, I could tell by the way her eyes looked.

“Rae? You uh you came.” I said in a nervous low voice. I hadn't talked to her since the other night but that was over the phone, seeing her and being less than ten feet away it made me nervous.

“Hey yeah I had to bring my moms boyfriends daughter Olivia.” Olivia gave wave to him and I gave her a head nod and a smile.

“Oh yeah we just met. I didn't no you guys came here together.”

“Uh yeah,” She got up from where she was sitting. “do you guys know where Andy is?” She turned a little so she could look at Kennedy.

“I think he's still in the back room with Jared.” Kennedy said to her.

“Yeah he was when I just left.” She nodded my head and started to walk away. But I didn't want her to walk away because I didn't want to lose her again.

“Come on Olivia, lets go find him.”She stopped and looked back at us and when her eyes landed back on mine I knew I had to say something or do something to get her to, I just didn't know what. “I guess we'll see you guys later.” She said as they started to walk away from us. I looked at Kennedy and he knew exactly what I was thinking. He lifted his arm up and gestured to the girl I was deeply in love with.

I jogged over to her and reached for her arm and pulled her towards me, she stopped in her tracks and gave me a confused looked.

“What do you want John?”

“I uh I just,” I quickly looked over at Olivia who was staring at us and still had the huge cheesy smile on her face. “I want to talk to you, maybe after the concert?”

“I don't know, I have to take Olivia back home before it gets to late. I'm sorry.” She turned back around and started to walk away from me again.

“Drop her off and we can meet up, please Rae.” I tried to sound as sincere as I could, I gave her a small smile and looked at her deeply into the eyes.

“I'll text where we can meet up.” She said quickly and started to walk away again.

I went back to Kennedy and gave him a huge smile and a thumbs up. “Were going to go out and talk after the concert.”

“That's awesome man.”

“Yeah, I gotta go get ready for the show.” I got up and headed to the back room and grabbed a guitar to work on a song that I wanted to play for tonight.

“Guys you have 1 minute til you have to go on.” Max yelled out to us. We all got our instruments ready, we huddled up and did our usual chant to get us pumped for the show. Our intro song went on and the lights went off, Max gave us the sign and we all ran out to the stage. The screaming girls were already screaming their lungs off but once I walked out it seemed like the level of noise went up and everyone was screaming and clapping.

“Hello Michigan.” I yelled into the microphone “Welcome to An Evening With The Maine.” A roar of screams came from the huge crowd as we started to play our first song, Don't Stop Now.

I looked out to the crowd searching for her face but I never saw it. What if she left already, or she was probably with Andy. I couldn't help my mind to run around, I knew I was messing up the set and I felt bad. After the third song I turned around to grab a water bottle by Pats drums.

“Whats up, your messing up all over the place, you okay?” He said as I sipped on my water.

“Yeah, I'm just nervous.”

“Have you spotted her yet?” I shook my head and I tilted my head back and took a huge drink of water but kept my eyes on Pat. He started to laugh but I didn't understand why.

“Shes on the side stage to the right.” After I heard what he said my stomach dropped, and my eyes widened. I casually turned my head and saw her standing there next to Andy. She had a huge smile on her face and I wanted that smile to stay there. I put capped the water bottle and placed it back down and went back to my microphone.

“Were going to slow it down. This song is about love.” The crowd scream, Max came over and gave me my acoustic guitar and I strapped it over my shoulders and started to strum the guitar.

“There was a new girl in town,” I looked over at Rae and saw that Andy's arm was around her shoulders but her eyes were still on me. “She had it all figured out, I'll state something rash,” I looked back at her and made sure our eyes were locked “She had the most amazing, smile.” I flashed her the biggest smile I could and I could see Andy staring at her and I. “I bet you didn't expect that she made my change my ways, with eyes like sunsets baby, and legs that went on for days.” I couldn't help but to smile to the crowd, all I could think about was that Rae was here and I knew she was glad she was here.

I finished the song and looked out to the crowd and saw all the faces smiling up at me, I just wish I could stare at Rae's face instead.

“Is it okay if we do one more slow song?” I listened to all the yeahs and just random screams. “Alright good, We've only played this song live once before but I think we managed to play it off pretty well. I wrote this song for someone very special in my life, here it goes.”

“I walk the tight rope, on my way home, your my back bone, I know your somewhere close behind me. I walk the fault line, in the dirty field in the spring time, I feel the wind start to remind me of you.” The morning after the first concert Rae was at she was saying how she could hear the “love” in my voice but she wish that love was towards her, but it was. I wrote this song for her and I wanted her to hear it from me and only me. I didn't want some stupid punk covering it for her, I wanted it to be me singing it straight to her. So this time when I sang the song I just hoped that she would hear that same sound coming from me and know that it was for her, I was doing all of this for her.

Through the song I just wanted Rae to be in front of me so I could watch her smile and have her watch me. I wanted to be the only ones in the room so no one could interrupt our moment. I wish Andy wasn't next to her, attached to her, she probably felt the same, at least I hope she was feeling the same. I looked over and sang to her, she had a small smile on but it looked like she was going to cry and that scared me.

I looked back at the crowd and we finished the song. The rest of the set went by and I just wanted it to be the end because I had a huge surprise at the end. I wanted it to be the end of the night where Rae and I would be talking and hopefully I would win her back.

We finished the set with We'll All Be.. and the crowd was the craziest it had been all night. That was my favorite part, seeing the crowd react to our songs we played for them. The boys and I walked off the stage and the crowd was already cheering for one more song. I went to get my bottle of water and a bottle of beer. I chugged the water and then took a gulp of my beer. Max handed me my acoustic guitar and a stood, I walked back on to the stage and the crowd came back alive.

“So I have one more special song for tonight.” I took a sip of my beer and put it on the floor and got my guitar ready to be strummed. “This is a very important song to me because the night I heard this song was the night I told someone I loved them for the first time and I really meant it. I love this person so much and I would do anything for them.”

I took a deep breath and looked out to the crowd and then spotted Rae in the back in between Andy and Olivia. Her eyes were on mine and I couldn't help but to smile.

“This isn't one of our songs. Its called Crush'd by Say Anything.”

I kept my eyes on Rae and watch her face turn into excitement. She looked over at Andy who wasn't really happy because he knew exactly what I was doing; I was winning and he wasn't.

Through the whole song Rae and I's eyes never left each others. The smile on my face was permanent and I knew it would be like this for a really long time now.

“I have a total crush on you, baby And I can't let it go, oh no. I have a total crush on you, baby, baby, if only I could let you know.” I sang out and I felt calm and I wasn't as nervous as I was before the show started.

“And as I drive tonight, West coast sky daring me to try, I feel alive tonight, The possibility that I'm your guy.”

“ I have a total crush on you, baby. And I can't let it go, oh no I have a total crush on you, baby Baby, if only I could.” I noticed the crowd looking behind them, they noticed that I hadn't taken my eyes off of the same spot the whole time. I heard the girls let out small awe's and they had huge smiles on their faces.

“Quite sure you love me, Rae Quite sure I love you too We'll each should make a verbal agreement To only kiss each other Because one time, beneath the sky Outside my New York pigsty, I saw a vision of you and I” I saw Rae's eyes get glassy and she looked down and looked back at me and there were actual tears coming down her face.

“Did it hurt? Did it hurt? Did it hurt when you fell from heaven, girl?” I finished up the song and said thank you to the fans for letting me do this one thing. They all cheered and clapped for me. I saw Rae wipe away the tears and tried to compose herself.

I walked off the stage and all the guys were their clapping and yelling.

“That was great man,” Jared said to me.

“Yeah really, you must of won her heart.” Garrett chipped in.

“Yeah I think I did. She cried at the end.” I said and took a bottle of beer from Max's hand.

I went to the back room to cool off and relax before I had to meet some of the fans.

I looked over at the mirror and looked at myself, I saw a genuine smile on my face. I was actually happy, happy and in love. I was sure that tonight I would have Rae back in my life.

And now all I had to do was wait for the text Rae said she would send me.
