Secret Valentine

There Is No Room In My Heart...

Fuck. I’m screwed. In front of me stood Alyson with her arms crossed over her chest, and a slight smirk on her cherry red lips.

"Alyson, that was completely different."

"How, Alex?"

"I actually care about you. I haven’t been with any other girl since then."

"How do I know that you aren’t lying?"

"Because I love you, Alyson."

I didn’t mean to say it. It just slipped.

"W-what?"

Alyson’s smirk dropped, and her eyebrows arched.

"Correction, did." I lied. "Alyson, you ruined everything."

"I’m sorry." She muttered.

"There is no room in my heart for a girl like you, Alyson."

She only nodded.

"Now, I’m taking you home, and I’m bringing Lexi over later tomorrow night."

"Kay." She said barley above a whisper.

I nodded, and headed toward my car. I got in, and it was another five minutes before she got inside of the car. It sounded like she had been crying. It took nearly everything I had not to give in. I drove silently to her house. Alyson got out without even a wave. I drove quickly back to my house. I walked straight toward the living room where my parents and Lexi were sitting.

"Daddy!" She giggled.

This kid was infectious.

Despite my terrible mood, a huge smile spread across my face.

"Hey, Princess." I took a seat on the couch between my parents, and sat the 3 year old on my lap.

She cuddled into my chest.

"You’re a great dad, Alexander," My father stated. "Even if you didn’t tell us."

I only nodded, completely focusing on Lexi.

"Where’s mommy?"

"She’s at home, baby." I replied as I ruffled her soft, brown curls.

"Are you upset with her, daddy?"

"Yes, Lexi." I sighed heavily.

Lexi only pouted. Normally she would have said something about it.

My mom cleared her throat, grabbing my attention.

"Jasey Rae called while you were out."

"Hm...really?"

"Can you at least give the poor girl a chance? She really seems to like you."

That’s because we got shit faced during 10th grade, and I might have hooked up with her once....or twice.

"Mom, I really don’t think that I can."

"But you used to have the biggest crush on Jasey."

"Crushes fade. That was in middle school. I don’t feel that way now."

"Well why not?"

"I fell in love, Mom. That’s why I have a 3 year old girl on my lap right now."

She gave me a questioning look.

"Lexi isn’t a one night stand?"

I shook my head.

"No."

"Want to talk about her?"

"Not really,"

"Okay."

My mom nodded, and kissed Lexi’s forehead.

"Night, Alexander." My dad patted my shoulder, kissed Lexi’s forehead, and went to bed. That left my mom still sitting here.

She finally stood up.

"At least think about it, Alexander."

"Jasey Rae or taking about her?"

"Both."
