Loony Bin

Twenty Five

“George?”
“George?!”

I run around the ward
panicked.

I’m looking for my love.
“George?!”

I slam into Tucker,
a bit of relief washes over me.

“Woah,”
“Where’s the fire?”

I want to smile
but instead I cry.

Tucker takes me in his arms
and holds me while I weep.

“Can I talk to George?”

“I’m sorry, he’s sleeping.”

I nod my head.
“You can tell me what’s wrong.”

I lift my face from his chest
and look into his musty green eyes.

“Daddy’s still alive.”

His eyebrow rises.

“I thought you killed him.”

I shook my head and
sobbed again.

Tucker pulled me into my arms
and soothed me.

“I don’t know what to do,”
“what if he’s come to hurt me?”
“Can George please come out?”

He shakes his head.
“He’s sleeping.”

I continue to sob;
harder and harder.

Tucker says nothing.

He doesn’t tell me I’m safe,
he doesn’t tell me okay;
he just holds me,
and for some reason
it rubs me the wrong way.

My writing's getting a bit meh, but that's cus a lot of these chapters are important transitions to other chapters that I wrote before, so filling in the blanks isn't the easiest.
