Loony Bin

Eighty

The Yellow Legal Pad

Ivan Peterson came to the ward again today. He’s the only person who has visited Aurora more than once. I noticed this morning, during his visit, that the patient was quite uneasy and shifty. She seemed a bit frightened in fact, but I believe that may have been due to the hallucinations she’s been experiencing. However, Ivan didn’t seem too sympathetic while she was having her “attack”. I overheard one of the nurses talking with him before he left. It was Nurse Lillian, the sweet elderly nurse that seems to have a bond with Ms. Johnson. She asked him what his relationship to the patient was. This is what I can recall from his response:

Mr. Peterson: I’m her neighbor, or, was her neighbor. Between you and me, her mother and I had a sort of affair whenever Mr. Johnson, may god rest his soul, would leave for work. Over the few years this had gone on, I’ve grown a sort of fatherly bond with Aurora. It pains me to see her in such a terrorized state.

I love how into the story you readers get. It's always amusing to see your reactions to chapters in the comments :)

Oh, and tell me whether or not you guys like chapters sort of like this. If it gets enough positive feedback, I'm thinking I might make it a sort of segment of the story.
