Psyche

“Trading numbers makes it official,” she says. So when Miss Jorgia is out of the classroom Alexandria flips out her cell phone and asks Jamie for his number.

“W-why?” he asks.

She licks her lips and raises her eyebrows slowly, as if the question is extremely ridiculous. “Y’know, so I can text you inappropriate messages or call you and make plans to hang out and stuff . . . “

He asks again, “Why?

“Because you’re my friend, and don’t deny it! You agreed to it the first day we met.”

Jamie stares, questioning if he’s just attracted a psychopath-in-training. Alexandria snorts loudly, and a few students glare at her. One of them is Jean, only he looks curiously before looking away.

Jamie gives in and gives her his number.

“I think you’re getting used to me,” she says.

“I feel sorry ‘cause you’re crazy,” he tells her. Her next laugh is loud to the point Miss Jorgia rushes back into the classroom, slating her eyes at her. Alexandria covers her mouth, laughter making her body jump.

“Yeah, I think we’ll be great together,” she squeaks, and Jamie has to smile at that.
