Steel city calls

Be mine

I watched Matt’s adorable face, as he stood beside me in line to get coffee. The weather had suddenly changed for the worst and Matt couldn’t take me where he wanted to. My curiosity was peeked when he got this glint in his eye when I asked him where we were supposed to go. After a moment of silence, he just answered “Nevahmind, love”. I pouted at that and showed him my puppy dog eyes, though he managed to stay strong and ignore my silent pleas.
- Hey, Pay..? – He suddenly turned to me and asked silently. I raised my brow and gave him a small smile.
- What woul’ yeh do ef I go’ down on one ‘nee an’ asked yeh to marreh meh? – I blinked once. Twice. Thrice.
- Wat? – I pinched myself a few times. Then a few more and then looked up at Matt. He was watching me with a grin on his face and I opened my mouth to answer, though I couldn’t form anything coherent.
- No… Wait… Wat? – I pinched myself again furiously just to make sure I wasn’t dreaming. Wait, what? Was he proposing? What? No way… WHAT?
- Yeh’re confused face is hilarious. – Matt chuckled lightly, as he turned to the cashier and gave our orders, because I couldn’t do that. After we had gotten our coffee and had found our place in the tiny café, only then did I understand that Matt was joking. I would lie if I told you that I wasn’t disappointed.
- Yeh’re an ass. – I muttered to Matt, as I sulked on my side of the little couch. Matt chuckled loudly, as he took a sip of his coffee.
- Yeh should ‘ave seen yer face. Perf. – I glared at him and quietly drank my coffee. I could feel Matt’s eyes on me, but I purposely ignored him. It was really hard when I couldn’t look at his adorable face.
- If it will make you feel better, I was only half joking. –
- WAT? – I screeched almost spitting out my coffee. Matt burst into a fit of laughter and I huffed angrily. I glared at the side of his head, while he howled in laughter, clutching his stomach. It went on for a few minutes, because when he’d turn to look at me, he would burst into giggles once again. My anger was rising and I didn’t feel like joking about stuff like that.
- Yeh’re such a little kid. – I muttered, as I finished my coffee and placed the empty cup on the table. I furrowed my brows in anger and glared at the wall.
- Oy, Pay. I was kiddin’. Matt slid closer to me and I refused to acknowledge his presence. I was mad at his attempt of a joke.
- Oke, I’m an ass. Sorreh, bu’ yeh ‘re hilarious. – I turned my head and glared at him. What was I supposed to do to show him that he had made me mad?
- Yeh’re an idiot if yeh fink tha’ was funneh. – I told him harshly and Matt visibly flinched at my tone. He hated fighting with me.
- I was scared. – He suddenly told me and I turned to look at him with a blank face.
- Of wat, Mattie? – I angrily asked and gave him the meanest glare I could muster.
Matt sighed and rubbed his face with his hand. I huffed in exasperation and ran my hand through my hair.
- Can yeh jus’ look a’ meh? – Matt asked me quietly and I was surprised at his tone. I turned my head to look at his nervous face and raised my brows at his strange behavior. Matt gave me a small smile.
- Yeh mean a lot teh meh. – Matt started and I slowly nodded my head.
- More tha’ anyoneh coul’ evah mean and et was always like tha’, yeh kno’, righ’? – Again, I nodded my head not really getting where this was going.
- An’ I don’ kno’ how teh tell yeh… -
- Tell meh wat? – All the possible and the most cruelest scenarios started playing in my head. My heart was hammering in my chest and I felt my hands start shaking. What the hell was going on?
- Can we jus’… try teh be..? – The silence was unbearable to me, because I stopped functioning after those words had left his mouth. I sat there, gaping at Matt like a goldfish, as he watched me with an amused expression on his face.
- ‘re yeh shittin meh? – I angrily asked and Matt scowled.
- I was shittin’ yeh when we were buyin’ coffee, yeh twat. – I blinked at him and pouted.
- I hate yeh. – I muttered, as I felt my face heat up. Matt started howling in laughter once again and I kicked him in the leg. He gave me a pout and I stuck out my tongue at him.
- So… Wat do yeh say? – He asked after a few moments.
- Wat do yeh fink I could say apart teh fact tha’ yeh should take meh righ’ ‘ere an’ righ’ now? – Matt started howling in laughter once again and I myself managed to chuckle a bit. Suddenly, Matt sat up straight and looked at me.
- I would, but tha’ woul’ be highleh inappropriate, though… I could take yeh at home. – It was my turn to howl in laughter, as Matt wiggled his brows in suggestion. I managed to nod my head at Matt and he lit up like a little kid on Christmas morning.
We wasted no time in getting out of the café, all the while making inappropriate jokes at each other and we hadn’t even reached the car when the sexual tension got too much and we started kissing each other on the street while walking. We couldn’t keep our hands when we were in the car and when we had reached the apartment, Tommy was fortunate enough to run out from it in time.
Mostly, I’m glad for our declaration of love between all that, because we were at the point when we couldn’t lie. We would have told the truth either way. And I was happy that I had finally managed to tell Matt “I love you”, but most of all I was happy to hear what followed after that “I love yeh, too.”.
