No One Knows You Like I Do

Sleeping In Your Plastic House

Madison giddily rushed around the apartment to clean up before she had to go get Nick. She wanted everything to be perfect when she brought him home.
She looked at the time and she knew it was time to leave to the airport. She was anxious, nervous, and excited. Nick had only been gone a week, but it seemed like much, much longer to the both of them.
Madison hopped into the car and took off for the airport. She drove quickly, but not too quickly because she definitely didn’t need to get into an accident.

The 20 minutes to the airport seemed like much longer, but Madison was finally there. She practically ran inside and to the gate she knew Nick would be at. She arrived early, but that was okay. It was better than being late.
Nick walked out of the gate and saw Madison. She was looking down at her phone, so she hadn’t seen him, yet. Naturally, Nick decided to play a trick on her, so he quickly got out of sight before Madison could look up and ruin it. He dialed Madison’s number and she quickly answered.
“Hey.” She smiled.
“Hey.” Nick said. “I’ve got some bad news.”
“Oh, no.” Madison’s heart sunk.
“My flight was delayed and I’m not gonna be in until later.”
“Oh.” She frowned. “Do you know what time you’ll be in?”
“No, I don’t.” He sighed. He walked up behind her and took a seat to her left. Madison looked up because he had sat so close to her and she nearly screamed when she saw that it was Nick. She quickly hung up the phone and set it down beside her.
“I hate you so much.” She hit his arm lightly before pulling him close and hugged him as tight as possible. “You’re the worst.”
“I know.” Nick chuckled before pressing his lips to hers.
“Let’s get out of here.” Madison smirked as she laced their fingers together.
“You don’t have to tell me twice.”

Madison rested her head on Nick’s chest with a smile on her face.
“I’m so glad you’re home.” She said.
“I’m glad to be home. I missed you, even though it was only a week.” Nick chuckled.
“You had fun, though, right?”
“Of course I did! I would’ve just liked to have had you there with me.”
“I would’ve liked that, too, but I can’t be with you everywhere!”
“I know, but that would be nice.”
“Of course it would.” Madison chuckled before pecking Nick’s lips. “Oh! The Maine guys are in town this weekend!”
“As in tomorrow?”
“Yeah, but they’re here all weekend. They put us on the list for their show tomorrow night and they want to hang out afterwards and stuff.”
“Sounds good. Now, I’m exhausted!”
“Then go to sleep already!” Madison chuckled. She kissed him once more before getting comfortable, so the two of them could go to sleep.

Madison found it weird to be back in this particular venue with both Nick and The Maine again. The last time they were there, everything in Madison’s life fell apart. Now that everything was back in place, she just felt uncomfortable. A shiver ran down her spine as she thought about everything.
“Are you okay?” Nick asked with a chuckle. He noticed Madison’s blank expression and felt her tremble under his arm.
“I’m fine.” She chuckled. The two of them walked quickly passed the crowd and to the green room. Nick didn’t want to be stopped because The Maine was up next and he didn’t want to be stuck out in the crowd.
The guys were warming up back stage, but stopped when Madison and Nick entered the room.
“Heeeey!” They all said, pulling the couple into hugs.
“Where’s Garrett?” Nick asked.
“Where do you think?” Pat said as he returned to drumming on a guitar case.
“With Mackenzie on the bus.” Jared smirked.
“I should’ve known.” Nick rolled his eyes with a laugh.
“But they should be back in here any second because we go on in like 15 minutes.” Kennedy said.
Madison sat on the couch quietly while Nick talked with the guys. She had spoken to all of the guys since the whole, except for John. She really had no idea why, but here they were, in the same room. Awkward would be an understatement. She wanted to figure out how to talk to him, but she’d run out of time because he sat down next to her as she gathered her thoughts.
“Hey, long time no talk.” John said. “How have you been?” Madison nodded.
“Good, good.”
“I see everything’s all patched up between you two. Not that you told me, like you did the other guys.”
“I’m sorry, John. I just didn’t know how to talk to you. You seemed to be the only person that wanted to tell me what happened and it was just hard thinking of a way to…thank you, I guess.” John sighed.
“Well, it’s water under the bridge, now. Let’s just forget about everything and start over.” He stuck his hand out to shake hers. “Hi, I’m John.” Madison laughed and shook his hand.
“Nice to meet you. I’m Madison.”
“What a lovely name. It’s nice to meet you, too, Madison. Hopefully you enjoy our show.”
“I’m sure I will.” She smiled.
Mackenzie and Garrett finally made an appearance and Garrett rushed over to his bass.
“Nice of you to finally join us!” Madison smirked.
“Sorry!” Mackenzie blushed as she ran over to Madison and gave her a hug. “But you know I don’t get to see him as often as you get to see Nick.”
“We could change that.” Garrett said. Everyone stared at Garrett and went silent.
“Are you trying to ask me what I think you are?” Mackenzie said and Garrett shrugged with a smiled.
“Just think about it, yeah?”
“Definitely.” Garrett pecked Mackenzie’s lips before joining the rest of the guys and walking out onstage. The crowd’s screaming was the only thing that could be heard.
When The Maine started their first song, Madison turned to Mackenzie.
“Holy shit! Did he really just ask you to move in with him?!”
“I think so.”
“What are you thinking?”
“I don’t know. I’ll miss you like crazy for obvious reasons, but it’s not like we couldn’t still talk or anything. And we could visit each other all the time. What do you think I should do?”
“MC, do you love him?”
“I do. A lot.” Mackenzie blushed.
“Then, don’t let me stop you from going. You’re my best friend and I love you, but if this is something you really want to do, then do it. We’ll always be best friends no matter how much distance is between us.” Mackenzie took a deep breath.
“I think I’m gonna do it, Madison.”
“Oh my god!” Madison gushed and hugged Mackenzie tightly. “Don’t you dare forget about me!”
“I could never do that.”
“Ladies, I know you’re having a moment, but we are here for a show, so…” Nick said and the girls chuckled. They stood up and joined Nick on the side of the stage so they could see the show.

After the show, everyone decided to meet at Nick and Madison’s apartment. The guys of The Maine had some things to do first, but they said they would be there within the hour. Mackenzie decided to stick around and help them out, so it was just Nick and Madison heading over first. Nick figured it would be a good idea to stop at the store to get some food and drinks, so they had something for everyone when they came over.
Madison started tidying thing up as Nick put all the food and drinks away.
“So….” Nick said. “How do you feel about the idea of Mackenzie moving in with Garrett?”
“I’m happy, really.”
“I don’t believe you.”
“It’s just going to be weird without her! She’s my best friend and I’ve always had her here. It’s gonna take some getting used to, that’s all.”
“But you’re happy for her.” Nick chuckled.
“I AM happy, Nick!” Madison chuckled. “She wants to be closer to him. I mean, it’s got to be hard for her. I couldn’t even stand being away from you for a week! She had to be away from Garrett for much longer periods of time. It’ll be good for her to have him so close, ya know?”
“Yeah. I just don’t want you to be sad.” Nick wrapped an arm around Madison’s shoulders and kissed the top of her head.
“I won’t be sad. I know she’s not leaving me forever. I also don’t want to hold her back. Plus, I’ll have you.”
“That you will.” He kissed her lips until they heard a knock on the door. Nick got up and pulled it open. John, Kennedy, Jared, Pat, Garrett, and Mackenzie piled into the house.
“Guys!” Garrett yelled. “It’s official: Mackenzie and I are moving in together!” Everyone cheered and quickly got down to drinking and having fun.

Hey guys! I'm sure you probably hate me for being absent for so long, but these past few weeks were super busy for me. It's almost the end of the semester and I had a few projects and assignments to get done and the best way for me to do that was take a break. I feel terrible for not even giving y'all a warning, but I had no other choice! I have to pass all my classes because I really have no room to retake anything.
The good news is, I'm back and it's nearing the end of the semester, as I said before. I have two more weeks of classes and then the two weeks after that will be my finals, but those are scattered around until the 30th, then it's summer time! I'll do my best to continue to update/write while I prepare for these finals, but, worst case scenario, I'll be back in two weeks. Just bare with me and continue to comment because comments really do urge me to write more! And this story only has four more chapters before the sequel!
Also, as a bit of a way of saying 'thanks for sticking around,' I've put up the first chapter of my new story called, You Leave Me Broken. It's a The Maine story and I think it's pretty neat, so if you would check that out and let me know what you think, that would be so amazing!
Love you guys!! xo
