Secret Boxes

Her Last Year.

Inside her tiny closet behind her coats and piles of shoes, Ellis Jay Green had some secrets. A chest of them to be exact.

Her new house was a dinky cookie-cut-out house that was built in a week. It was painted a soft pink color that made her annoyed every time she saw it. Her rusty beat-up Toyota Camry sat in front of the garage making the house lose value. The front lawn was bright green, but wouldn't be for too much longer.

A lone tree brushed against the house in a soft caress that would represent a mother rubbing a child's back to soothe them. Journeying inside the house, it wasn't up to the homey feel yet. Boxes lined the living room and kitchen. Dishes set on the counter from her last meal that had yet to be washed.

Climbing the stairs, inside her bedroom, she hid them away. Her past was begging to break free from the binds of the chest. It whispered and shouted trying to become free; wanting to share its self.

Closing the closet door, Ellis took out a small key and locked the door. Her secrets were meant to stay that; secrets.
