Sequel: Say Something
Status: New and Active!!!!

Sweet Home Arizona.

Five.

The ride back to my parent’s house was the most awkward car ride I had ever gone through. Not a word was spoken and not a glance was passed between the both of us. We both looked ahead and listened to the radio.
“Mason please talk to me.” I just shook my head and looked out the window.
“I have nothing to say to you so I advise you to shut up.” John pulled off the road and onto the shoulder. Cars went flying by us and so did the world. “John what the fuck are you doing?” He shut the car off and turned to look at me. “We are not leaving until you talk to me. If this takes all fucking night then so be it.” I rolled my eyes and looked up at him. “John please just take me home now.” He shook his head and smirked.
“We are not leaving until we resolve this issue.”
“What issue; we don’t have an issue?”
“The issue between us, we need to be together again Mason.” I couldn’t believe he was talking about this now.
“John for the one millionth time, I’m engaged to Luke. We are never going to be together ever again. The only thing that bounded us together was Paisley. She’s gone and now so is our relationship.” He gripped the steering wheel so tight that his knuckles were turning white.
“Can Abercrombie give you the fun and excitement you need in your life? Can he give you those long, passionate nights wrapped in the sheets? Can he make you feel like you are the only girl in the world? Can he make you laugh when he’s drunk? Can he make you excited to see him when he comes home?” I just stared ahead as John continued to ramble. The weird thing about it was that John was the only person who could make these happen. Luke was a very boring person sometimes. He could never make love, it was always a fuck and go situation. He looked at other girls while I was around. He rarely ever drank. And I was never really ecstatic to see him come home.
“Do you know that all the songs that I write are about you. I Must Be Dreaming was about the first time we made love and I told you that I loved you. Saving Grace was about our wedding day and married life. Right Girl was about when you left. Mason Taylor King, you have no idea how much I miss you. I miss the feeling of your skin against mine. I miss the way you would make me breakfast. I miss the way you would fuck the bathroom up with toothpaste and make-up. I just miss you period.” I wiped away the tears that were falling from my face. “You wouldn’t be crying right now if you didn’t want all of this back.”
“John can you please just take me back to my parent’s house?” He nodded his head and started the truck back up. The rest of the ride was even more silent than it was before.
45 minutes later, we arrived at my parents house. I was about to get out of the truck but John stopped me.
“We’re having a show tonight and I would like it if you would come.” I looked at him for a second and shook my head. “I don’t think that’s a good idea John.” He released my arm and watched as I climbed out of his truck. “Thanks for the ride.” I walked away from the truck and up the porch steps. John tore out of the driveway and onto the main road. What did he expect me to say; yeah I’ll go see your band play because I still love you? I don’t think that was going to happen. I walked into the house and saw my dad was passed out on the couch.
“How was the lake sweetie.” I nearly jumped out of my skin when I heard my mom come out from behind me.
“Not so great but it was good to get in the sun.” I walked away from the living room and into the kitchen. I looked at the clock and saw that it was only 5:32.
“Are you going to The Maine’s concert tonight?” I looked over at my mom and shook my head,
“Why not?”
“Because I don’t want to go that’s why.” My mom started tapping her foot against the ground. This always meant she was starting to get aggravated.
“Mason you need to go to the concert. Plus Taylor is going and she needs a ride, so there is your reason for going.” My mom walked away before I could protest anymore. I can’t believe she was making me go to the fucking concert. I stomped out of the kitchen and up the stairs to my room. I slammed myself onto the bed and looked up at the ceiling. I wished I never came back here. I could have forgotten all about my marriage to John and this wouldn’t be happening right now. I could be back in New York planning my wedding with my friends and just enjoying life; but no.
“I can’t believe this is happening to me right now.”
“Are you talking to yourself?” I lifted my head up and saw Dylan and Taylor standing in front of my door. Dylan was my older sister and the person I told everything too. Ever since high school she has helped me with John and everybody else that caused problems.
“Yeah mom and John have officially drove me to insanity.” They both let out a laugh and entered the room.
“So I heard that you went to the lake with John today.” Dylan took a seat next to me, while Taylor sat on the floor. I felt like we were younger again, telling each others secrets and talking about of crushes.
“Mom told you didn’t she?” Dylan nodded her head and grinned.
“I know something happened by the way your acting.”
“Nothing happened.” Dylan punched my shoulder and grinned even bigger.
“Your such a damn liar Mace. Now spill and tell us what happened.” I rolled my eyes and let out a sigh.
“Okay so something did happen at the lake. John started talking about the past and then we started making out.” Both Dylan and Taylor had the same expression written on their face; shocked but excited.
“NO WAY!” I threw my pillow at Taylor’s face, knocking her onto the floor. I definitely didn’t want mom to come up hear and ask what all the screaming was about. Taylor would spill the beans for sure.
“You and John made out?” I nodded my head.
“We were like inches from tearing each others clothes off but I knew it was very wrong.”
“You stopped yourself from having sex with John Ohh? Are you out of your fucking mind?”
“I’m engaged Dylan, I can’t go screwing random guys.” She looked at me like I was on drugs.
“John is not some random guy Mason. John was your first love, your first boyfriend, your first time, your husband, and the father of your daughter. He will never be some random guy, he’s always going to be that guy you let go of. Just think about the happiest time you and John shared.
“Dylan this is ridiculous.”
“Mason just do it.” She growled.
I let out a loud sigh and started racking my brain of the memory that meant so much. We shared so many wonderful memories from the day we got married to the day Paisley was born. The memory that stood out the most was the night I told him I was pregnant. I could still remember it like it was yesterday. John was so ecstatic about becoming a father and caring for another human being.
“Now what memory is it?”
“When I told John I was pregnant would have to be the best moment between us.”
“Why didn’t you pick your wedding day?” I looked over at Taylor and laughed.
“Because John and I got into a huge fight during the reception. We also fought the whole way to the hospital before Paisley was born. He wanted to name her Paulina and that started the whole fight.”
“You need to talk to him tonight and get everything straightened out Mason.” I looked over at Dylan and knew she was right. “You have to look sexy while you’re doing it too.” She sprung up from the bed and jogged over to my closet. She started searching through my closet but was coming up short.
“You have absolutely no sexy clothes in this closet.”
‘Maybe because those clothes are from the 10th grade Dylan. Plus I don’t need to dress sexy in order to talk to John.”
“Mason have you seen the girls that attend the guy’s show; they dress like freaking hookers? Now you’re John’s ex, well almost ex wife and you need to show those little girls who’s the boss. So we are going back to my place and Taylor and I are going to fix you up.” I looked between Taylor and Dylan and let out a sigh. This was going to happen whether I liked it or not.
“We better go now before I change my mind.” They both clapped their hands together and dragged me out of the room.

“I don’t think I like this idea anymore; I look like a stripper.”
“You don’t look like a stripper Mace. I think you look very sexy.” I took another glance at myself in the mirror. I didn’t really look all that bad but I normally didn’t dress like this. “Now you go to that concert and knock John off his feet. Taylor isn’t going anymore so it will just be you tonight.”
“Why aren’t you going to the concert.”
“Tonight’s your night and Dylan gave me 100 bucks not to go.” She gave me a smile.
“Now it’s time for you to leave. Make sure you do everything we talked about and forget about Luke for just one night.” That wouldn’t be hard.
I gave Dylan and Taylor each a hug and went out to my car. My heart was beating a hundred miles a minute. I could have swore it was going to beat out of my chest.
I arrived at the club 25 minutes later and just sat in the car. I was so nervous that I couldn’t get out of the car.
“Mason you need to chill out and just go in there. Don’t worry what others are going to think, just worry about what John thinks.” I couldn’t believe I was giving myself a freaking pep talk.
I let out a few deep breaths and decided it was now or never. I got out of my car and started walking to the entrance of the club. There were girls already crowded outside wearing next to nothing. Typical little teeny boppers dressing like hoes to get backstage. When I walked into the club it was sardines packed into a can. The whole room was filled with girls and a couple guys here and there. I was pushing my way through the crowd but was stopped when someone grabbed my arm from behind. I turned my head and saw Vito smiling the biggest smile.
“How ya doin’ Mason.” I wrapped my arms around his neck and hugged him. It had been forever since I last saw Vito. He helped me through so much after Paisley’s death and trouble with John.
“I missed you so much Vito.”
“I missed you too Macy. Are you trying to get someone’s attention tonight.” He eyed me up and down and grinned. “John’s backstage if you want to see him.”
I shook my head no, “I’ll just stay out here and watch the show.” Vito nodded his head and gave me a hug goodbye. I took a seat at one of the tables and watched as the little girls screamed for John to come out onto the stage. I couldn’t help but laugh as all of this was going on.
Minutes later, the lights began to dim and the crowd went crazy. Out of the darkness, a tall shadow appeared and the music started.
“HOW ARE YOU DOING TEMPE?” The stage lit up and there he was. I was actually surprised to see him dressed. He had a wife beater and a flannel shirt covering his upper body, but he was still looking good.
I saw him searching the crowd and that’s when his eyes locked with mine. I gave him a small smile, which he returned.
“This first song is dedicated to a girl who will always have my heart. I love her more than anything in the world. It’s called I Must Be Dreaming and I want each and every one of you singing along.” I couldn’t help but smile as the boys started the song. I could already tell this night was going to be great.
An hour later, the guys were done with their set. I had been to many of their shows but tonight’s was by far my favorite. I got up from the chair and started making my way to the backstage area. Vito had given me a pass so I wouldn’t have to fight with security. The butterflies in my stomach were going crazy as I got closer to where the guys were. When I reached their room, nobody was in there. I found this sort of odd but I just decided to wait. They were probably signing stuff and talking to the fans.
After about 2 minutes, I heard footsteps walking down the hall. I figured it was just one of the roadies or venue worker but I was wrong. John walked into the room and shut the door behind him. I knew what was about to happen but I still wasn’t sure if I was ready or not.
“Are you trying to give me a stroke Macy?” I looked at him confused.
“What are you talking about?” He walked over to me and lifted me off of the chair.
“I’ve never seen you dressed so sexy before.” He placed his lips on mine. Sparks instantly started going off in my body. I mean we did make out at the lake earlier today, but this was different. The way he kissed me showed that this was real and full of love. It wasn’t like one of the kisses that just happen so they could get in your pants. Maybe the kiss at the lake wasn’t what I accused it to be. Maybe John really meant it.
“How about we get out of here and go somewhere else.” I looked up at him and nodded.
John took my hand and quickly led me out of the venue and to where his car was. Since it was a local show, the guys decided to drive themselves instead of taking the bus.
When John and I got outside, we practically ran to his car so no one would see us. The guys were still outside with the fans signing and talking. We quickly got inside of the BMW and sped off. During the whole ride there, John couldn’t take his hands off of me. Every time we hit a red light, his hands would go higher and his lips would go lower.
We finally reached the house and John nearly tore the door open so he could get me out. He threw me over his shoulder and ran to the front door. He quickly unlocked the door and walked us into the living room.
“I can’t fucking wait.” He placed me back onto the floor but I didn’t stay there very long. He pushed me onto the couch and crawled on top of me. His lips feverishly landed on mine and his tongue begged for entrance. All the while Luke was in the back of my mind. It was all about John and I, and that’s how I always liked it.
