Someone Like You

Green Eyed Monster

“There’s the birthday girl!” Ryan yelled as he wrapped his arms around her body, giving her a tight hug. He kissed her cheek, “you’re so old, you know that?”

Taylor narrowed her eyes up at Ryan, knowing that he was joking. He mimicked her actions, making her laugh. “Shut up, you’re older than I am.”

"We're all finally old enough to legally have alcohol!" Mitch said with excitement, with a beer in hand. "Where the hell is Tony? People are already here and he's not!"

Taylor walked over to Mitch and quietly said, “He’s on his way home from the airport. Keep your mouth shut!”

Mitch didn't know what she was talking about, but to stay quiet anyway since Taylor could get a tad scary when she was mad. When the doorbell rang, Mitch went to go answer the door, letting a group of people come in for Taylor's birthday.

Ryan grabbed a beer from the fridge as Tony's car pulled up by Taylor's house. A few people got out of Tony's car but Ryan couldn't tell who it was. He drank some of his beer as Casey walked into the kitchen to get away from the crowd of people in the living room and the backyard.

"Who did Tony bring over?" Ryan questioned while Casey got a beer for himself.

Casey shrugged. “No idea. I guess we’ll find out soon.”

Ryan gave Casey an odd look as he walked away. He was about to follow him until a pair of arms wrapped around his body. He felt a pair of cold lips on his cheek as he turned to see who it was. He smiled as he saw Lauren looking up at him.

"I haven't seen you in a while," he frowned lightly.

"I know, I'm sorry. I've been busy with school," she said reaching for his hand. "I finally got my things for college though."

"That's cool," he gave her a little smile as he watched Tony walk over with another guy.

Once Tony spotted Ryan, he smiled and threw his hands up in the air. “Ryan!” They greeted each other with a hug before Lauren cleared her throat. "Oh, Lauren, I didn't see you there, must be because you're under aged!"

Lauren inhaled sharply as Ryan gave Tony a look. "What do you want?" Ryan asked.

"I want you to meet someone,” Tony had a mischievous smile on his face. “This is Kiowa. Ki, this is the one and only Ryan Sheckler."

Ryan hated when Tony introduced him like that. He shook Kiowa's hand and got a good look at him. Despite being on the slender side, Kiowa was actually three or four inches taller than Ryan was. His shaggy hair stopped around his eyebrows, showing off his dark brown eyes. His natural tan and smile were enough to make any girl swoon.

"How did you guys met?" Ryan asked Kiowa, trying to get acquainted with Tony’s new friend.

Kiowa chuckled, “I actually met him today. He’s friends with my girlfriend.”

"Ki, there you are!” A female voice said from across the room. “I thought I told you not to wonder off with Tony!"

Ryan's eyes tore away from Kiowa. He recognized her voice. His heartbeat quickly when he saw Calli walking over to her new boyfriend. He couldn’t help but stare at her and soak in how much her look had changed. Her hair was now one solid color and looked smooth since she had stopped dying it. She had taken out her lip ring and did her make up differently. The way she dressed was even different. It was more mature and flattered the figure she had.

"Hey Calli," he smiled brightly.

"Hi Ryan," she smiled awkwardly. "It's nice to see you again."

Ryan ignored Lauren as she lightly tugged on his shirt. “Yeah, it’s really good to see you too.” He licked his lips before continuing, “So, uh you guys are dating?”

"Yeah, we are,” Calli said with a smile. “Are you guys dating?” She pointed to Lauren.

"Actually-"

Lauren cut him off, “yes, we are.” She held a big smirk on her face.

Tony slowly walked away as the four of them stood there awkwardly. Calli didn’t even have to look at Lauren to already know that she hated her. She had long blond hair with eyes similar to Ryan's, but nowhere near as beautiful. She was the complete opposite of what Calli was, which seemed to be the typical type of girls he went after. Kiowa cleared his throat, breaking the silence.

"Do you want a drink?" Kiowa looked down to Calli.

Calli shook her head. “Not yet, but thanks.”

"I'm going to find Tony. I'll let you two catch up."

Kiowa kissed Calli's cheek before he grabbed a beer for himself. Ryan looked over to Lauren and asked if she would leave for a moment as well. She wasn't happy about it, but she as she was asked. Ryan and Calli stood there, just staring at each other before Ryan decided to speak.

"He's seems nice," Ryan exhaled loudly. "How long have you two been together?"

She blushed at just the thought of Kiowa. “Almost a year. What about you and Lauren?”

"Oh, we're not really dating. It's kind of complicated." He smiled nervously. “She likes me...a lot. I only like her a little but I don't wanna hurt her. You know how it goes."

Her smile quickly disappeared and was replaced with a frown. "No, I actually don't. I thought it would make more sense to break things off with a girl you barley like over a girl you said "I love you" to. But I guess that's just me," she scoffed, "I'm going to find Kiowa, I'll see you around."

Calli really didn't feel like talking to Ryan at the moment. No matter how long you and your ex have been broken up, it always bought up bad feelings. Ryan walked over to where the party was and joined Casey and a few of their other friends in a conversation.

He couldn't help but look over where Calli was. She was sitting on Kiowa's lap on the black couch in Taylor's living room. His hand was resting on her thigh while she was playing with his hair. Tony's girlfriend, April, was also sitting on his lap as the four of them talked. They all laughed at something Tony said, making Kiowa bury his face in the crook of Calli's neck to try and contain his laughter. That green eyed monster Ryan never felt before was brewing up inside of him.

Ryan gulped the last bit of his beer before storming off to the kitchen. He threw the bottle in the recycling bin, making the glass bottle shatter. He ignored the looks he was getting from other people as he grabbed another beer. After he cracked the cap off, he went to go and look for Taylor.

She was dancing in the dining room with a few of her other friends. He grabbed her and quickly pulled her upstairs. "Where are we going?" She yelled over the music.

He opened the door to her bedroom and dragged her in there. You could slightly hear the loud bass from the music, but nothing more. "What is wrong with me?"

"Ryan, what are you talking about?" Taylor asked calmly, seeing how serious Ryan was being all of a sudden.

He looked up at her with sad eyes. “When have I ever been jealous of someone?”

"Never," she didn't need to think about it twice. "Why? What's wrong?"

Ryan sighed, “I haven’t seen Calli in two years and she hasn’t been on my mind once. As soon as she walks in with another guy, I want nothing else but her.”

Taylor hid her smile. "I can understand why. Calli is really beautiful, Kiowa is pretty hot. And he's dating your ex that you really cared for but dumped her anyway."

"That's not helping," Ryan mumbled. He took a swing of his beer before looking back up at her again. "I'm really sorry I'm ruining your party but I just needed to tell someone who would take me seriously."

This time, Taylor smiled at how sweet he was being. "We're best friends for a reason, Ry. Why don't you just have fun and we'll talk more tomorrow over brunch? That way you'll have more to tell me."

He smiled and kissed her cheek. "Thanks Tay. Don't know what I'd do without you."

"I hope you're not mad at me for inviting her. We were really good friends in high school," she smiled sheepishly.

He shook his head. "I could never be mad at you."

She smiled brightly and grabbed his hand so they could get back to the party. Ryan saw that Calli and Kiowa were still sitting with Tony and April. This time Casey was sitting there as well, so Ryan decided to sit with him now that he wasn't going to be the fifth wheel.

"What’s up, guys?” Ryan asked as he joined the group.

Casey playfully shoved Kiowa. “Ki here was telling us what it’s like being a famous movie star.”

"You're an actor?" Ryan seemed a little shocked. Calli didn't seem the one to go for guys that always got a lot of attention. She usually liked normal guys, then again, she went out with Ryan. He definitely wasn’t normal.

Kiowa nodded, not liking the attention he was getting. “I am, but I’m not that huge or anything. I do more indie stuff.”

"He plays one of the wolves in Twilight," April gushed. Tony covered up his girlfriend's mouth to keep her from talking.

Kiowa let out a chuckle. "Calli told me you're a pro skateboarder," he quickly changed the subject. The focus tonight wasn't going to be him tonight. It was going to be Ryan. "That seems really cool. You get to go to a lot of different places and meet different people. "

"It can be pretty cool I guess. I lost a great girl that way though," Ryan sighed.

Calli gave Ryan the dirtiest look she had ever given in her life. She got up from Kiowa's lap and stormed out of the living room to go outside. Ryan was about to get up but Kiowa already beat him to it. He looked over to his friends who were giving him a disapproving look.

"You were the one who broke up with her. You either get over it or tell her how you feel,” Tony sighed, disapprovingly. “You’re such an ass.”

Ryan rolled his eyes at his friends before putting his beer on the table. He decided to leave the party for a bit, but would return for Taylor’s sake. When he walked to his car, he heard Calli sobbing quietly by Tony’s car. He stared in jealously as Kiowa held her in his arms and kissed her forehead to calm her down. Ryan wanted to be the one who was holding her. Kiowa didn’t deserve her.

He sat in his car, already regretting how things went with Calli. She didn’t deserve his attitude but he just couldn’t help it. He knew it was creepy, but he continued to glare at Kiowa. Once he saw her kiss his lips, he instantly regretted breaking up with her.
