From Day One

Day One.

5 Years ago. Day 1

Another boring day at the coffee shop. The huge lunch rush just passed so now it was slow and boring. I changed the music to more upbeat music, basically so I wouldn't fall asleep. I was sweeping the floor when 3 very attractive guys came into the shop. I put the broom away and went to the cash register.

“Welcome to Starbucks, can I help you guys?” I looked at them and I couldn't believe how cute they all were. They all looked at me and smiled and looked up at the menu.

“Yeah I'll have just have a small black coffee.” Said a tall, shaggy hair brunet. He was very tall and very skinny. They all were very skinny, it made me feel huge.

I took out a coffee cup and my marker, “Can I ask for your name?” I said getting ready for right down his name.

“Oh yeah Kennedy.” I smiled and wrote it down and got the cup of coffee ready. I went back to the cash register and waited for the other two to make up their minds.

“Hey I'll just have a tall caramel macchiato.” said an auburn, average height boy. He looked a little bit younger than the other two but he was still very cute. He was wearing a star wars shirt and black skinny jeans and I couldn't help but to stare at him.

“Are you okay?” he asked me

“Oh uh y-yeah sorry. Whats your name?” I suddenly got all nervous and started to blush in embarrassment.

He let out a small laugh which made me feel even more embarrassed. “It's Garrett,” he said with a small side smile, that he probably used on every girl he came in contact with. “And whats yours?”

“It's uh it's R-Rose.”

“It's nice to meet you Rose.”

“No it's not.” I blurted out.

“Rose isn't your name?” He gave me a confused expression and so did the other two boys.

“No it is but everyone calls me Rosie.”

“Oh well that’s also very cute.”

“Thank you.” I turned around and got his cup and try to hide my red face. I didn't know why I was so nervous, it was like I was on their charm. I wrote his name on his cup and pour the black coffee in Kennedy's cup and gave it to him.

“And what will it be for you?” I said to a long blonde hair boy. He had a tiny piercing on his lip to the right of his lip. He was wearing a black beanie and looked very cute.

“I'm not a coffee guy so is the tazo green tea lemonade good?” he asked me.

“Yeah it's not my favorite to be honest, I love the passion tea.” He nodded his head and looked back up at the menu.

“Alright I trust you, I'll get the passion tea.” he smiled down at me and I smiled back.

I grabbed a cup and my marker and turned back to him. “And your name?”

“Joel.” He gave me that side smirk, “Joel Kanitz”

“Nice to met you Joel Kanitz” I said with a small laugh and got their drinks together.

I called out their names and they came over here and picked it up. They all said thank you and went to a table near by and took a seat. I picked up my broom again and finished up the sweeping. Next I had to wipe down the counters. This job was forever boring. I did the same thing everyday and I went home smelling like a horrible cup of coffee.

“Johns coming down.” I heard one of the boys say. I instantly got excited, if all three of these boys were very attractive I had to guess that this John guy was also.

I heard the door open and close and all the boys yelled out his name in excitement. I looked behind me and saw him. There he was, standing up talking to other guys. He was tall and skinny, with messy long brown hair. He had black tight skinny jeans on with a bandana around his left knee. He had a white shirt on with the short sleeves rolled up a tad. And when he turned around our eyes met and there was something there that made my stomach go crazy. His eyes were these bright green pools that stared back at me. He gave me a small smile and walked closer to the cash register.

“Hi” I instantly said.

“Hey” He said back to me. Our eyes hadn't left each others and I didn't want that to change.

“What can I get you?” I said slowly. He finally looked away and up at the menu.

“I'll just have a ice mocha latte.” He as his eyes found their way back down to mine. I nodded my head and grabbed a cup and my marker.

“Um can I uh have your name?”

“It's John and yours?”

“Rosie.” He reached his hand out in front of him for me to take and I did and shook his hand.

“It's nice to meet you Rosie.”

“Same here.” I turned around and made his latte. He went to the table with his friends, he took the seat so that he was still facing me. Every so often I would look over there and see his eyes quickly move away. I couldn't help but to smile.

“Max texted me and said we had to go back.” John said to the group of guys. The all stood up and and threw away their garbage. They all started to walk away and one by one they went out the door. John was the last one, he looked back behind him and our eyes connected again.

“Thanks for the coffee, it was great.”

“Your welcome. It was nice to meet you, John.” I said with a sincere smile.

“It was great to meet you Rosie.” and with that he left the coffee shop. I watch his figure walk away and catch up with his friends.

I felt like I was losing something as he walked away. I didn't think I'd ever see him again and that kind of made me sad. I wanted to run out to him and tell him that we belonged together but then he probably would think I was crazy and call the cops. And I bet he had a beautiful girlfriend and he'd never leave her for someone like me.

The clock turned 1 o'clock which meant my shift was over. I watched as my friend and co-worker Jenny walk into the coffee shop with her uniform on and ready to work. She walked in with a huge smile on her face. She walked to the back and put her stuff down and tied her hair up into a pony tail.

“Your in a good mood today.” I said as I took off my apron and picked up my purse.

“Yes because tonight my favorite band it playing at The House of Blues in Dallas” She said in excitement.

“Oh well I hope you have fun.” I said as I hung up the apron and started to walk into the main area.

“It'd make it even better if my best friend came with me.” I stopped in my tracks and turned around and gave her a face.

“Yeah I'm busy.” I lied.

“Doing what? Going home, eating another carton of Ben & Jerry’s half baked ice cream and sobbing over Jeremy?” She knew me way to well. I broke up with my boyfriend of a year and a half a month ago and it was hard. Me and him were best friends before and now we weren't even on talking terms. My heart was broken and my nights ended with me going to bed sleeping in one of his shirts I kept and cried my self to sleep.

“So what?” I said with an attitude.

“Please lets have a girls night out.” she said in a singing tone. “And there’s tons of hot guys, we can hook you up.”

“Talking about hot guys, there was a group of super cute guys who came in earlier. Especially one named John, his eyes were so amazing.” I gushed out to my best friend.

“Well this is a huge concert, you never know they might be there.” She said with a huge smile. I took a few moments and finally agreed.

“Fine, I'll go as long as you hook me up with someone.” I said with a wink.

She jumped up with joy and grabbed me into a hug.

“I'll pick you up at 6.” she shouted out as I started to walk towards the door. I yelled out a goodbye and a see you later.

I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into but I was excited.
