Field of Shadows

I set my phone down and smiled.

"Why are you all smiles?" Daniel asked, nudging me.

"I'm going out with Matt's and his friends tonight." I said, smiling.

"So you're going to ditch us and go with them?" Mikaela asked.

"Yes." I said bluntly.

"Why do you hate us?" Blake asked.

"I don't know where to start." I said, laughing.

"Ugh!" Derek said. "Rude bitch."

"Dick face!"

"Scandalous bitch." Bruce said.

I started to laugh as did everyone else.

"Not going to lie. That was pretty fucking hilarious." I said, still laughing.

"Anna let's go gamble before you go then?" Mikaela asked.

"Of course." I said, grabbing my phone and purse. "Let's go."

"Can we come?" Daniel asked.

"Fuck no. You guys bug." Mikaela said.

I laughed and we went down to the casino area.

We played for about 2 hours.

I lost then won, then lost, then won again.

We went back up to the hotel room and I had half an hour to get ready.

Mikaela re-curled my hair for me and put on a tad bit more make-up.

I was ready to go and it was 6:55.

Matt should be here soon.

As if on cue, there was a knock on the door.

"I'll get it!" Daniel yelled.

"No!" I yelled, jumping up from the bed.

We both fought for the door.

I won.

I opened the door and there was Matt.

But just Matt.

"Hey." I said, smiling.

"Hey. You ready to go?" Matt asked.

"Yeah. Umm, where are the guys?" I asked.

"Well, they were really tired so they stayed." He said.

Oh boy.

A one on one date.

"Hold on. I need to get my purse." I said.

I went to the bed and grabbed my purse and looked at Mikaela.

"Mikaela, it's just him!" I whispered.

"What? Oh my God!" She squealed. "That's so awesome!"

"Shhhh!!!" I said. "He can probably hear us. Now I'm officially nervous."

"Oh, you're going to be just fine."

"Okay, okay. I'll let you know how it goes." I said.

"Now go! Don't want to keep your sexy date waiting." She said.

"Very sexy!"

I left her and went back to the door to a smiling Matt.

"Okay. I'm ready." I said.

"Don't be out too late." Daniel said.

"Okay mom." I said, sarcastically. "Bye."

I shut the door and turned to Matt.

"Let's go?" Matt asked, holding out his arm.

"Of course." I said, linking my arm with his.
