Field of Shadows

Matt and I walked along the strip.

My arm was linked through his the whole time.

"So how long have you lived in California?" He asked.

"For about 3 years now." I said.

"Nice. Like I said, I grew up there."

"How nice. I like it. It's pretty cool. I love, love the beach!" I said. "It's my favorite."

"Really? I do to. The guys go there a lot."

"Really? Well have to go sometime." I said, smiling.

"Yeah." Matt said, smiling his adorable smile at me.

"So Matt, what are our plans tonight?" I asked, looking up at him.

"Well, all together we were going to go eat and then to a club. Do you still want to do that?"

"Of course. It sounds like a lot of fun."

"Will you be mad if I already made reservations?" Matt asked.

I squinted my eyes and smiled.

"No, of course not. I have a question. How long did you know the guys weren't going to come?" I asked.

"For a while. They wanted to let me go on a one on one date with you because I haven't been on a date since-" He suddenly stopped.

"Since what Matt?" I asked, confused.

"I don't want to talk about it right now." He said.

"Okay. I completely understand." I said.

We were silent after that.

We walked back to the MGM and went to this really nice restaurant.

"Wow Matt." I said, looking around. "This is really nice."

"The best for the best." He said and I started blushing.

"Oh, well that's really sweet of you!" I said.

"Are you blushing?" He asked.

"Maybe." I said, trying to hide my face.

"I think it's cute." He said.

I started to blush even more.

"Thank you." I said.

"Hello, welcome to Craftsteak Steak House. I'm Ethan, can I get you two some wine?" Ethan, our waiter asked.

"Umm, I'll just have some water." I said.

"What are your red wines selection?" Matt asked.

"Merlot, Malbec, Zinfandel."

"Let me have the Merlot." Matt said.

"Alright, I'll be right back with your drinks."

"Merlot huh?" I asked.

"Yes. It goes good with meat." Matt said, laughing. "This is a steak house."

"Hmm. I've never had it. I like sweet wine." I said. "I've been told, Merlot is very dry."

"Okay. Here are your drinks." Ethan said, setting down our drinks. "Are you two ready to order?"

"Umm. No." I said, laughing.

"I'll be right back then."

"You want to try it?" Matt asked, holding the glass to me.

"Sure. Why not?"

I took the glass and took a sip.

"Mmmm. That's good." I said.

"Get you some." Matt said.

"I think I might."

"Are you ready?" Ethan asked.

"I'll just have the 7oz. steak with a bake potato. Well done." I said. "Also can I get a glass of that wine?"

"Of course. And for you sir?"

"I'll have the same thing she's having. Just mine, medium-well." Matt said.

"I'll be right back with your drink."

Ethan left and I smiled at Matt.

For some reason, I just couldn't stop smiling at him.

"So what do you do Matt?" I asked.

All of a sudden, there was a loud squeal.

There were two girls looking at Matt and squealing.

"Omg, omg, omg! You're M. Shadows. Of Avenged Sevenfold." One girl yelled.

I finally figured it out.
