Running Towards Death

Jacky's Revealed Identity

I was terrified. Well, wouldn’t you be too if some random stranger was standing in your new living room?

When he told me not to be scared, and that he wasn’t crazy. All I thought of was what Max said.

Nothing. He’s crazy.

“Um, w-who are you?” I stuttered.

He stepped out into the light, and I recognized him. It was the guy, Jacky, who Max was talking about.

“We’ve already met, briefly, I just wanted to take the time to get to know you a little bit better” he said and smiled evilly.

“Should I be scared?”

“If I were you, yes” he said.

“Why are your eyes yellow?” I said.

“Your worried about my eyes being yellow when I could rip you to pieces?” he growled.

“I’m calling the police, you need to leave me alone” I said and went towards the phone. Jacky got to the phone first, even though he was right across the room.

“H-how’d you get their so fast?” I said.

“I was standing next to you the entire time, Emily” he said.

“Huh?” I said.

“I was right here the entire time”

“Why do you want to hurt me?” I said.

“I don’t want to hurt you” he said.

“Then what?” I said.

“I want to kill you” he said as his eyes started to glow again.

I stepped back and bolted towards the door and started to unlock it. Jacky grabbed me and I started to fight him. He covered my mouth to stop me from screaming. I kicked him in his manhood and he collapsed as I ran towards the door.

“You stupid human bitch!”

I bolted into Max’s apartment to find him in his kitchen. I startled him and he turned towards me.

“Emily, slow down! What’s wrong?”

“That guy-Jacky! He tried to attack me and kill me!” I yelled.

“Shit. Stay here” he ordered.

“Wait!” I said.

“No. stay. here” he said again.

I nodded and he disappeared.

About ten minutes later Max appeared again and looked out of breath.

“Are you okay?” I asked.

“I’m fine. He won’t be bothering you anymore” Max said.

“What did you do?” I said.

“Nothing. He’s going back to where he belongs” he said.

“Where’s that?” I said.

“The forest. He doesn’t really live there. He has a whole clan of friends out in the forest who he causes trouble with” Max said. “Or in other words his band”

“Falling in Reverse?”

“That’s it. Ronnie Radke, Ryan Seaman, the whole nine yards”

“But why does he act like he stays here?” I said.

“To feed off on new humans, like you. Especially females” he said.

“Feed off on?” I said.

“Ugh, Emily, he’s a vampire! A bloodsucking, pale-skinned, lifeless vampire who wants to kill you and turn you into another one of them” he said.

A vampire? A vampire almost killed me?

“I’m not afraid of him” I said.

“Huh? He wants to kill you” he said.

“He won’t kill me because I’m not afraid of him” I said.

“Whatever you say, just stay away from him, would you maybe like to um go out and meet some of my band mates with me tonight?”

I smiled. “Yeah, sure, when?”

“Let’s say, 9 o’clock?”

“Okay, see you then”

Max smiled as I was walking out. “Bye”

“Hey, is this kinda like a date?” I said.

“Yeah, a friendly date” he said.

I walked out of his room and back into my apartment. To my surprise, I found another surprise sitting on my kitchen counter. It was a letter from Jacky.

Emily,
I’m sorry I scared you. I don’t do well around new humans.
I don’t think you’ll understand why though. I’m not who you
think I am. I don’t want to hurt you, but you intimate me and
I can’t help it. Maybe you’d like to talk it out with me sometime?
Here’s my number. Call if you’d like. 417-980-5432

Should I listen to Max? Or I should I take a chance?
