“John I really like her, she’s really nice and funny plus she is gorgeous!” Kennedy said as soon as Emily left with Brittany. John chuckled as he held his beer in his hands.
“I know you think she’s gorgeous Kenny, you’ve done nothing but stare since she walked through the door!” John rolled his eyes,
“Seriously though she’s awesome, I like her” Pat piped in and a chorus of yeas resounded.
“I wonder what my girlfriend is doing to your fiancé” Tim mused and John chuckled,
“Who knows with ‘girl-talks’” Garrett replied chuckling taking a sip of his drink.
“So are you guys getting along?” Jared asked and John winced,
“I’ve acted like a complete jerk to her, so not really...”
“Why the act john?”
“I just don’t want this whole marriage thing, plus I don’t think she’s the one so I don’t want to encourage her...”
“John you’re not even giving her a chance!” Austin said in a pissed off voice,
“She’s one of the most amazing girl out there, she hates luxury, doesn’t drink or smoke, she never slept with anyone, fidelity is one of the most important things to her she would never to anything to hurt you plus she cares about some after meeting them straight away, Oh and she plays 5 instruments! What more can you want O’Callaghan?” Austin said vehemently all stared in shock.
“I just... look I don’t know Austin” John shook his head,
“She plays 5 instruments!?” Jared asked wide eyed and Austin nodded,
“Yup and she sings like an angel” he added and the guys were all shocked, John shook his head surely Austin is just exaggeratinghe thought.
“Hey are you and Carrie done?” Pat asked quietly and John looked away while clenching his jaw.
“I’m going to go check on the girls they’ve been in there for a while” Tim said as John still didn’t answer, the tension was palpable.
“I’ll come with you” Tim nodded, as they approached he could hear Brittany’s voice and when they were at the doorway John spotted Emily with a face in her hands and Brittany patted her back. Tim threw him a worried, yet confused look,
“Hey is everything alright in here?” John asked watching Brittany and Emily jump startled by the sudden voice.
“Oh yea we’re um...fine” Brittany said and stood up walking to Tim who held her hand and pulled her outside, John walked towards the couch.
“Emily are you okay?” he asked sitting down beside her and she sighed,
“Yea... I guess I’m just ugh...” she stalled, “Tired”
“Want to go um h-home” he stuttered and she glanced at him and gave him the most peculiar look, it was as though she was searching his face for something specific, he frowned.
“Are y-you...” she shook her head and looked away,
“Am I what?” He asked serious.
“It’s doesn’t matter...” she mumbled standing up, she sighed with obvious frustration.
“Let’s go back out there, I bet you’d rather hang out with your friends than with me...” She mumbled the last part confusing John even more,
What the heck just happened? He thought as he watched her walk outside to where his friends were.
John walked out after a while and Emily was laughing at something the guys said but he could tell she was faking it, and apparently he was the only one who noticed. The night progressed and it started getting fairly cold, John was falling asleep on his chair but kept listening to the chatter around him, suddenly everything went silent and next thing John knew he was absolutely drenched in ice cold water. Laughter surrounded him as he quickly jumped up glaring at the guys but he soon started laughing as well until Emily walked towards him,
“John you should go dry up it’s fairly cold...” she said gently,
“Nah I’ll wait till we go home” he chuckled and she frowned hugging a blanket around her shoulders.
“You’re going to get sick”
“Geez Emily Your not my mother!” he said harshly as he became frustrated at her concern for him, he watched as her shoulder dropped slightly making her sigh she then pulled the blanket off her shoulders, leaving it on his lap... Soon John found himself shivering but was too stubborn to wrap himself in the blanket Emily gave him. An hour later John was literally freezing and decided to go home, while he drove home he felt his chest stinging slightly but he didn’t care, Emily stayed silent the whole time.
