Cold As You.

I've never been anywhere as cold as you.

"Kennedy Brock?" I called out as I entered his place. I looked around only to come up empty handed. It had been five months since that disaster happened and it was just a old memory now.

"Up here, babe!" He called from I assume his room. I chuckled and headed up the stairs. I opened the door as he was running a towel through his hair.

"Yeah, I know. I'm running late." He grumbled and I smiled as I sat on his bed.

"It's fine."

He leaned down and kissed my lips, "Good morning by the way."

I laughed, "Good morning."

"I missed you." He frowned as he pulled his plaid button down over his grey shirt.

"Yeah, kind of sad." I stated. We had stayed apart the night before because he had meetings. We were only ever apart for such things which made me question my past decisions.

"Gonna be like this when I tour though..."

"Yeah..." I mumbled my good mood disappearing. That hadn't crossed my mind.

He sighed and ran his hand through his hair as he looked in the mirror. He then sat beside me to put his shoes on and I watched him do so. Of course being who he is he leaned over occasionally to kiss me causing a grin to hit my lips.

"Your parents are going to hate me because we are never on time." He said causing me to laugh, "Pat's worse so it's ok."

He grabbed my hands and pulled me from the bed.

"Ready?" I asked and he nodded wrapping his arms around my waist.

"What?" I asked and he shook his head, "Nothing. I just missed you. I love you." He whispered kissing my lips then my forehead before he dropped his arms.

"Love you." I whispered as he shoved his wallet into his back pocket. I couldn't help but watch him. It was funny how I never really paid attention before to how he gets ready. It's so orderly that it's kind of funny and yet, I loved it. Then again, I love everything about him.

He sprayed cologne on himself then grabbed my hand with a grin, "Come on."

I let him lead me to the car and he opened the door for me before getting in. As bad as things seemed to be then, I'm glad it all happened because the guy he now was, was the guy I fell in love with.

We finally arrived at my parents house and he followed me in. This had some how became a ritual. Every Sunday we would eat breakfast with my parents, Pat, Kara and sometimes Tim if he wasn't out with god knows who. It was kind of amusing to think of it being all of us if we all ended up together.

"Ha! I beat you here!" Pat said sticking his tongue out at me and I shoved him lightly, "Yeah? Well that's just because your significant other doesn't have to towel dry her hair!"

"Hey!" Kennedy said defensively as he fell onto the couch.

Kara laughed as my mom walked in, "Oh you two finally showed up."

"Yes, my fault this time." Kennedy stated, "Although she is not helping any." He said giving me a look.

Mom laughed, "I'm sure."

"Heyyyy. Meanie." I frowned and Kennedy chuckled. I walked over and fell into his lap.

"And yet here you are." He whispered against my shoulder.

"Yeah, I love you. Sue me."

He chuckled and wrapped his arms around me.

"Dad, hurry up in there I'm hungry!" Pat spoke loudly and Kara rolled her eyes.

"Yeah? Well get your ass up and make your own pancakes!" My dad yelled back and Kennedy went into a fit of laughter.

"Oh man, I love your family." He chuckled and I shook my head with amusement.

He kissed my cheek and pulled me to him, "I'm sleepy." He mumbled into my hair as I laid my head on his chest.

"What time did you get home?"

"Like, I dunno, 2 something."

"Awe. You didn't have to come." I said moving so I could see him.

"No, it's ok. I missed you and plus, I like it here."

I grinned and brushed his hair back causing him to close his eyes as he let his head relax on the back of the couch.

"Mhm, I'm going to fall asleep if you keep that up." He mumbled and I kissed the corner of his mouth, "Sorry."

He nodded as I traced my fingers down his jaw and he opened his eyes tiredly, "Ok. I'm exhausted now."

I chuckled and kissed him quickly, "We can go."

"No. That's rude. We can eat then go. I'm fine."

"Ok, get to the table fatty." Dad called out to Pat who glared at him causing us to laugh. I pulled Kennedy to the table and he sat down covering his mouth as he yawned.

"How come Pat isn't tired?" I asked and Pat shrugged.

"Because he's 12." Kennedy grumbled and Pat shot him a look.

"Really? I'm 12? I may not be able to sleep, but you are beyond whipped my man." Pat said pouring syrup on his pancakes.

Kennedy shrugged, "That's your defense?"

"Yeah and she babies you just as bad!"

Mom chuckled from the end of the table.

"I'm too tired to discuss this issue, but I'll resume it later, so don't think this is you winning." Kennedy mumbled causing us all to laugh, minus Pat.

"Hater." Kennedy spoke and Kara laughed, "Thought it was over?"

"Yeah, it is."

"Hater? For what?" Pat asked.

"That I have someone like Cassidy and you have Kara who believes in tough love."

"Hey! Not all the time." Kara said in her defense.

"Why would I want someone like my sister?! Gross."

"See, the fact that you said that makes me calling you 12 not just a theory." He said and I snickered beside him.

"Yeah, Pat, why wouldn't you want someone with the same qualities? I mean, her and Kara are a lot a like." Mom said and Pat groaned, "Just stop."

Kennedy chuckled beside me and my dad shook his head not believing this conversation had went on this long. After we ate Kennedy fell asleep on the couch with his head in my lap. I knew he was exhausted although he was trying to fight it.

I ran my fingers through his hair as I watched him sleep.

"He's a great guy." I heard and looked up at my mom who sat down across from me on the love seat.

"I know." I responded with a grin, "He has only had 5 hours of sleep, which I didn't know until we got here. He said he didn't want to be rude and not come and that he liked being here."

She smiled at that, "He's a sweet boy."

I nodded and looked back at the sleeping Kennedy.

"He loves you. I mean, I've never heard him say it to you, but I see the way he looks at you when you're not paying attention." She said and I blushed instantly.

"Of course your dad likes him because he isn't all over you in front of us." She added causing me to laugh, "Should have known."

"Take him home." She said with a smile as she stood up, "I'm going to make sure your father hasn't hurt Patrick." She said going to the kitchen where Pat was attempting to help clean up with Kara.

"Ken..." I whispered shaking him lightly.

"Mhm." He mumbled causing me to chuckle.

"Wake up so we can go home and you can sleep in your bed."

He shook his head and I chuckled, "Yes. I'll drive."

"Ok." He mumbled before forcing himself up. I smiled as he rubbed his eyes sleepily.

I leaned over and kissed his cheek causing him to smile weakly, "Sorry I didn't mean to fall asleep on you."

"No, it's ok." I whispered grabbing his hand as we got up.

"Should we say bye?"

"No. She told us to go. Well actually she told me to take you home so you could sleep."

He chuckled, "Oh what else did she say?"

"Basically, your perfect in her eyes."

"Yesss. I love that woman. What else?" He asked as we reached the car and he handed me his keys.

"She said that although she's never heard you say you love me she knows you do because apparently the way you look at me when you think no one is looking?" I said chuckling.

His cheeks turned red and he rubbed the back of his neck uncomfortably.

"I don't do that..." he mumbled.

I shrugged as we began the short drive back to his place.

Once we got in he dragged me to his room where he kicked off his shoes and pulled off his shirt. I chuckled at his eagerness and pulled my own shoes off before climbing in beside him.

"This is better." He mumbled his arm quickly engulfing me and pulling me to his chest.

"Yeah..." I whispered closing my eyes. He was right. It was better having him here.

"For the record I do in fact do that." He whispered and I grew confused, "huh?"

"Stare at you a lot." He mumbled against my shoulder, "The fact that you're beautful and mine makes it hard not to..."

I ran my fingers over his arm that was securely around my stomach.

"Because I love you." He added softly before kissing my neck.

"I love you too. Get some sleep."

He didn't respond and I closed my eyes. It wasn't long until we were both asleep.

When I woke up Kennedy was still out and the clock on his nightstand read two in the afternoon. I sighed and laid back on the pillow. well, good thing we had nothing to do today. Kennedy pulled me closer since our sleeping made us end up on opposite ends of the bed.

"Sleep good?" I asked and he nuzzled his face into my neck, "mhm." He mumbled which I took as a yes. I chuckled and he pressed his lips to my skin.

"Of course I did. You're here." He said softly, his voice a bit rough from just waking up. I traced patterns into his arm as we laid in silence.

"I need you to lay here with me all day to make up for me not having you last night." He stated and I laughed, "Oh ok."

He kissed my cheek before pulling away, "be right back though."

He headed to the bathroom as my mind raced with thoughts. The more and more I thought about it the more I liked the idea of living with Kennedy. We hated being apart from each other and excluding yesterday we had never spent a night apart from each other and I was ok with that.

When he walked back in and was climbing back in bed I couldn't stop the words from leaving my mouth, "So, we should like, live together."

"Wh-What?" He fumbled out as he completely froze and just stared at me.

"But you said you didn't want that..." He finally said cautiously and I spoke, "I know, but that was then. This is now. I feel like we are different now." I said now a bit nervous. Maybe I shouldn't have said anything.

He sighed and hovered over me. I bit my lip watching him as he ran his hand into my hair, "If you really want that so do I. I hate going to sleep without you and being disappointed all over again when I wake up." He whispered, "But I need you to be certain this is what you want, Cassidy."

"It is. I promise." I answered seriously and he smiled showing off his gap I love, "So, you and me..."

I chuckled, "Yeah."

"Do you want to live here?" He asked and I nodded, "I assume so. Wait. Have you had any other girls live here?"

He stifled a laugh, "Are you serious? Of course not."

"Just making sure!"

He rolled his eyes with a grin, "So, I'm going to have you here everyday?"

"Well, technically yes."

"Perfect." He whispered before kissing me, "I still have your key."

I couldn't help but smile, "Good."

"Why are you changing your mind? I mean not that I mind at all."

"Like I said it's different now. You're different."

"I'm different? How?" He asked.

"I don't know, you just are. Who you are right now is the boy I fell in love with. Not that I didn't love you before now, but you know..."

He grinned, "Yeah. I get it. You have no idea how happy I am right now to know that when I get home from tours or recordings or hell, meetings...that no matter what time it is I'll get to come home to you."

"Yep. I'd be happy too." I teased and he rolled his eyes with a smirk, "Right. I'm sure."

"And do you know why?"

"Why?"

"Because, I love you."

He smiled and pressed his forehead to mine, "I love you too, Cassidy. Always and forever."
