The Kind of Hoax That Leaves a Lump in Your Throat

“Violet, wakey wakey” josh cooed in my ear.

My heart fluttered at the sound. I still couldn’t believe my josh was back home with me again. I could feel it was light out, but I wasn’t sure how long I had slept for. All I knew is I didn’t want to get up anytime soon.

“Go away” I mumbled as the sunlight hit my eyes making me scrunch them together even harder. I could feel josh brushing some hair back from my face, and then with his other hand was running up and down my side. I then felt his lips on my cheek and they travelled down and then along my jaw.

“Love, it’s almost three in the afternoon”

“Fine, im awake” I huffed and rubbed my eyes. We both sat up and josh got out from under the covers.

“Come on, we’ll go watch a film or something” he smiled, holding out his hand to me. I took it gratefully and he pulled me from the warm comfort of the duvet and into the cold afternoon air. He led me down the stairs and when we got to the bottom I stopped him.

“Go set it up; I need to take my tablets. I’ll be in in a sec” I smiled. He kissed my cheek before disappearing into the lounge. I quickly rushed into the kitchen and swallowed the few pills I took every morning, before skipping back to josh.

Just as I got to door of the lounge, someone began to knock on the front door. “I’ll get it” I sighed and opened the door.

“Sonnie!” I smiled and flung my arms around his kneck.

“Hey vi” he chuckled and held me back just as tight.

Sonnie and I had gotten close again since josh went on tour. We worked out what we needed to and It was like we were best friends again. it was nice having him back in my life.

“I think she’s still upstairs, I’ll go see what’s taking so long” I smiled and ran upstairs. I knocked on her door lightly and herd a faint “come in” from the other side.

Coral stood inside, wearing a black dress, and matching heels. Her hair was slightly wavy and pulled to one side and her make up was done simply. Ever since coral had started modelling she had decided to embrace her paleness, much like myself, and she looked much better for it. She looked so much more natural now, she was simply stunning. I felt completely inadequate standing next to her in a pair of leggings and an old tee.

“come on, sonnies’ waiting for you” I smiled reassuringly. She smiled back nervously and looked in the mirror, brushing herself down. “coral, you look beautiful, you have nothing to worry about”

“yeah, what if I fuck it up? This is the first time it’s been just the two of us. He’s the first guy ive ever really liked violet”

That much was true. As me and Sonnie patched out relationship up he began spending a lot more time in our house again and because coral lived here too, it meant the three of us hung out a lot. I could see it happening as soon as Sonnie caught sight of the “new” coral. He got that cheeky little sparkle in his eye.

At first I was worried. After the way things had gone down between me and Sonnie I didn’t want the same happening between them. So when coral was at a shoot for a few days and it was just me Sonnie and I left, I confronted him.

He told me that he was jealous of the way I was with josh and that was the reason he acted the way he did. Then it came out he had a huge crush on coral and I gave him my permission to ask her out. Coral gratefully expected.

“are you sure you don’t mind violet, like its not gonna be weird for you is it?” she asked and she nervously grabbed her bag and we made our way out the door.

“I told you, me and Sonnie are just friends, its fine. He’s is the sweetest guy ever. I know we ended badly, but it was just we weren’t right for each other in that way, that’s all. I mean I feel the same for him now as I did before, I love him, but like a brother or a friend. Nothing more. I think you too will get on perfectly together” I smiled and patted her arm before running back down the steps. Coral followed gracefully behind, and I watched sonnies eyes light up when he saw her.

“hi” she said nervously.

“Hey, you um, you look amazing” he said earnestly and took her hand. He was nervous I could tell. It reminded me of how he acted around me when we first were together. She blushed slightly and a smiled at the sight of them.

“right you two, go have fun” I smiled, opening the door for them. They left with huge smiles on their faces and I went back to josh after shutting the door behind them.

“now, am I going mental” josh started as I fell into his lap, “or are Sonnie and coral going out on a date?” he asked with an eyebrow raised.

“no you’re not mental”

“well that’s gonna take some getting used to” he smiled before wrapping his arms around me tighter and burring his face in my neck. “you smell like you” he sighed, and I got shivers and his breath hit my neck. “ive missed this”

“Ive missed this too” I admitted, tracing his features with my fingertips. “so what are we watching?”

“well, I was thinking, SpongeBob the movie” he smiled, “but then I figured, corals out, plus Zahra and Oakley went out at about 11, so we have the house to ourselves” he mused, walking his fingers higher up my leg.

“so…?”

He lent in and put his lips to my ear before whispering “race you upstairs”

I leapt up and out of his lap, and ran up the stairs. I could hear josh following behind and when we got to my room he slammed the door behind him.

Our lips connected instantly whilst his fingertips dug into my hips and I couldn’t help the moan that escaped my lips. Soon enough josh had picked me up and chucked me onto the bed. His lips streaked down my neck and then he held my hands above my head, his face mere inches from mine.

“ive missed you so much violet” he whispered.

I had no time to respond because his lips were hungrily back on mine.



I could feel josh lightly tracing circles on my hip and I opened my eyes to see him staring down at me. His hair was a mess, sticking up in various places, but his eyes, they were the brightest I had seen them in a while. I smiled lightly and he pressed his lips to mine.

“hello beautiful” he chuckled and I poked my tongue out at him. “Tired from the workout I gave you?” he winked.

“Eww josh” I groaned and rolled over away from him. He laughed and kissed my shoulder.

“listen, I need to go back to my place for a bit, gotta sort some stuff out, but I’ll be back later” he said whilst pulling his clothes back on.

“um ok” a thought popped into my head and I couldn’t help but voice it. “hey josh?”

“Yeah” he answered and sat down on the bed next to me, now fully dressed. I propped myself up on my elbows so I could speak to him properly and he smiled at me expectantly.

But then I thought about what I wanted to say and I didn’t wanna seem desperate. “oh it’s nothing, don’t worry”

“no tell me please” he pouted.

“well it’s just an idea, and you don’t have to say yeah or whatever if you don’t want and-“

“violet, come one, out with it woman” he said cutting me off.

“Well it’s just, when you’re home, you’re here most of the time, and it seems like your wasting money on rent for a flat you’re never in, so I was just wondering if you wanted to move in here. I mean I know it’s a big step but… yeah I kind of lost my point”

He smiled and kissed me lightly. “Violet, that sounds perfect. Any spare time I have, I wanna be spending it with you. Are you sure you don’t mind?”

“it was my idea, of course I don’t mind. I want you here with me”

He smiled the most brilliant smile I had seen him wear in a while, before his kissed the end of my nose.

“ok well, I’ll go sort my stuff out, and when I get back, I want you to be dressed and ready to go.”

“why, where are going?”

“out to dinner.”

“well as long as it isn’t nando’s or wagamama’s I’m in” I smiled.

“no fair” he said before he stood up. “right I’ll be back soon.” And he bent down and kissed me again. “I love you”

“I love you, too” I replied and then he left.

Life was perfect once again.
