Take Control

Awkward silence.

Malorie woke up a few hours after Oli left and that was only because she had work at 2. She showered and got ready all the while replaying the nights events in her head. She did find herself having a small crush on Oli. She couldn't help it. He carried himself in a mysterious way and she was instantly drawn to it. Once she arrived at work she was bombarded by Vanessa.

"I have a date tonight with Tom!" She said seriously and Malorie laughed, "I know."

"How?"

"Tom or Oli someone told me."

"Of course. Did Oli go home with you?" She asked curiously.

"Yeah."

"And?"

"And what? We went to sleep. Nothing happened."

"Tom said he thinks Oli likes you."

"And Tom is delusional." Malorie said placing her purse under the counter.

"Is not. I think he does too."

"Yeah, yeah. I'm going to get some coffee. Be back." Malorie mumbled before walking out of the building. Although she wouldn't mind Oli liking her, she didn't think that was true. He didn't seem like he did anyways.

She walked into the small coffee shop only to run straight into Oli of all people. His hazel eyes met hers instantly and she gave him a weak grin. He couldn't be mean to her whether he didn't want to like her or not.

"Hey Mal." He said with a grin.

"Hey Oli." she responded stepping into line and he walked over with her.

"I was bringin' yeh this..." he said holding out the extra cup of coffee he had in his hand.

"Really?"

He nodded placing his arm around her waist after she grabbed the coffee all the while thanking him.

"Come on." He said softly pulling her to the door. Yeah, there was no hope and he knew that. She drew him in every time without even knowing she was.

"Where are we going?" She asked and he shrugged allowing his fingers to grasp tighter on her side.

"Um, I have work."

"Um, so do I." He mocked and she rolled her eyes before taking a sip of her coffee. He liked how she didn't question anything. How she didn't seem worried when she was with him.

"Oli!" She said after a while of them aimlessly walking and he laughed, "I was wonderin' when yeh were gonna say somefin'."

She rolled her eyes and he smiled before turning them around. She sighed and he kissed her head, "So, did Vanessa say anyfing bout Tom?"

"Oh yeah. That they were going out tonight. She really likes him."

"He fancies her as well." Oli stated with a grin. She nodded and he slid his hand into hers. For some reason he just wanted to hold her hand. To see what it felt like just to walk down the street with her. She wasn't really phased by his gesture and she didn't mind holding his hand.

"I've got to get back to work." She said and he nodded, pulling her to a stop before they got close to the shops. She looked at him confusingly and he pulled her to him by her waist, "Hang out wif me when yeh get off."

"Ok." She whispered wondering why he was now being so touchy, feely. He was beginning to go from mysterious to confusing. He didn't know why he was either, he just felt the need to be that way with her. He was kind of curious as to find out if he in fact liked her in some way. He kissed her cheek, returning his hand to hers before walking back to their jobs in silence.

"I'll see yeh lata." He said heading across the street and she just nodded. She just didn't get it...

He walked back into Drop Dead to Tom singing as he stocked the shelves.

"Good fing no one is 'round. They'd leave from yeh singin'."

"Sod off."

Oli chuckled and Tom looked over at him, "Yeh a bit cheerful now. Did yeh run inta Malorie?"

Oli shugged wiping the smile from his face.

"Fine. Don't tell meh. I can juss tell." Tom stated with a chuckle, "Give tha lass a chance. She's propa brill. Deny that yeh like her, but I know othawise."

Oli rolled his eyes. It was typical of his brother to try and fix him up, but this time it was getting annoying. He went to his office and closed the door so he could be alone. Of course that was too much to ask because thirty minutes into his quiet time Sam walked in causing Oli to groan.

"Hey, on a serious note do yeh like Malorie? If so, that's fine, but if not, well I was finkin' I would ask her out."

Oli looked up at the boy in front of him as his mind swirled. He wanted to say no, but wasn't this what he wanted?

He gulped as he stared at the blonde boy in the doorway, "Go for it."

Sam smiled, "Ok, just seein' how yeh feel, mate."

Oli nodded as the boy left happily, closing the door behind him. Oli sighed and stared down at the papers in front of him, well the song he had started writing yesterday. Who was he kidding? He had been wasting time just to see the girl. Clearly he liked her, but maybe this would help get his mind in the right place.

"Are you done?" He heard and looked up to see Malorie walking into his office and falling into the chair in front of his desk.

"No..."

"What's wrong?" She asked and he ran his hand through his hair, "Did Sam talk ta yeh?"

"Uh, yeah?"

"What did he say?"

"Uh, he asked me if I had plans tomorrow night?" She questioned.

"Yeh aware he's askin' yeh on a date right?"

"What? No he's not." She said wide eyed and he nodded, "Yeah, he is. He told meh he was."

She groaned, "Noooo and I said yes."

"Do yeh not like him?" He asked curiously and she sighed, "Not like that. He's cool, but no."

He tried to fight the smile wanting to hit his lips, "Oh. Ok."

"Worried?" She asked confidently with a smirk and he rolled his eyes with a grin, "What's there to be worried bout, love?"

"That maybe I like him and although you don't want to admit it, you like me." She said crossing her arms the smirk still on her lips as she leaned back in the chair. His heart raced from her confidence and he couldn't help but grin as he watched her simply because he knew she meant it.

"I can assure you that's not the case."

"Mhm. So you say Sykes. So you say."

He chuckled and shook his head as he laid the pen in his hand down on the desk.

"You said you wanted to hang out and here I am."

"I am aware." He said standing up from his seat and pulling on his jacket.

"So..."

He laughed and held out his hand, "Come on sillah bird."

She placed her hand in his and he pulled her from the chair.

"Don't call me silly. You're the crazy one."

"I won't deny it love." He said opening the door to see if Sam was around.

"What are we doing?" She whispered causing him to chuckle, "Shush. I was seein' if yeh boyfriend was out." He said before pulling her from the office and out into the now night sky.

"He's not my boyfriend." She mumbled holding onto his hand as he pulled her to his car.

"Not yet."

She frowned and he opened the door for her, "What? He's a nice lad." He said removing his hand from hers and she rolled her eyes as she got in.

He chuckled as he went to the driver side and climbed in.

"I'm kidding. If yeh don't like him, well then yeh don't." He said linking his hand with hers again after he started the car. She nodded as her eyes diverted to their hands unsure what that meant.

"Where are we going?" She asked and he shrugged which she had gotten use to so she just relaxed in the seat watching the cars pass by and Oli continuing to hold her hand.

They pulled up at a house which she assumed was his since she hadn't been here yet. Her eyes diverted to him and he didn't seem phased as he turned the car off and she followed him as he got out.

She wrapped her arms around one of his as he tried to unlock the door and he had to focus because he could smell her perfume and it was starting to mess with him.

He finally got the door opened and he pulled her inside before closing it behind her.

"Now, don't freak cause yeh in my home." He joked causing her to laugh, "Oh man! I'm in the Oliver Sykes house! I might faint!"

He chuckled as she fell onto his couch and he sat beside her watching her as she turned on his television like this happened all the time. A grin hit his lips as she flipped through the channels, humming some song he couldn't pick up on.

"What?" She asked once she felt his stare. He shook his head with a grin as he relaxed against the couch.

"What?" She asked again her green eyes hitting his.

"Bloody nuffin'."

She rolled her eyes and looked back at the television trying not to show the nerves that settled in her stomach.

He slid his hand over the top of hers that rested between them. She didn't dare move as he linked their fingers tightly. She looked over at him and before she knew it his lips were on hers. He didn't know what took over him, the look she gave him just made him want to kiss her.

She didn't try and pull away though. She kissed him back with the same force and he gently pushed her down to the couch, his lips never leaving hers. He didn't imagine that it would be this amazing to kiss her, but now he couldn't stop.

He picked her up swiftly after several minutes of heated kissing and carried her to his room. He really didn't plan on this happening, but now that it presented itself he wasn't going to stop it from happening.

He pushed all of his worries away and focused solely on her which he realized wasn't that hard to do. She was already mesmerized by him so she wouldn't have dared pushed him away.

The next morning when he woke he hated to admit that he liked her next to him. He turned on his side watching the blonde girl sleep peacefully. His fingers traced down her arm causing a chuckle to leave his lips, he still was amused that she had a sleeve. What kind of girl did that?

He liked it. He liked her yet he knew that he needed to just push it aside. Afterall, relationships were nothing but trouble and he had things he needed to focus on, like writing new music, starting on the fall collection of his line. Things he couldn't handle with a bird at his side. He would just tell her that this couldn't happen again. He sighed and laid back on the pillow staring up at the ceiling.

She woke moments later and opened her eyes not daring to move as Oli just stared off in space.

"You ok?" She finally asked which startled him a bit. He turned his head to come in contact with her green eyes.

"Oh, um, yeah, love. I am." He whispered and she nodded. He brought his hand gently to her cheek, "I'm not sure why we did what we did, but I'm sorrah. I enjoy our friendship too much to frow it away like this."

She just stared at the boy unsure what to say. That wasn't what she wanted to hear, but she didn't want to voice it.

She finally forced herself to nod and he kissed her forehead before wrapping his arm around her and holding her close.

"Are yeh gonna go out wif Sam?" He finally asked his fingers tracing her back.

"I don't know..."

He didn't bother responding because he didn't know what to say. In fact he didn't know what he wanted. He didn't want to be with her and yet he didn't want her to be with anyone.

How could that be?
