Wife

" Are you sure you want to do this?" Jules asked me as we stood in the bathroom of the courthouse.

I finished applying my mascara in the mirror, smiling.
I turned around to my best friend.

Jules was well, shocked when I called her on the way here with Kris and Henri, but met us anyway.

She brought me a cute dress of hers, knee length and flowy.

Something here needed to be traditional.

" Yeah. I mean, I think so. For the first time in my life I'm truly happy. And it's Kris that makes me that way. I want to spend the rest of my life with him. " I said to her.

Jules nodded, small grin on her face, but then it fell.

" But why like this? I wonder what made Kris think to do this? It's rather sudden and rash don't you think? Especially for such a calm and collected guy. " she wondered.

I sighed, smoothing out the hem of the dress.
" I don't know. I don't think I want to know, either. I'm tired of second guessing things. I'm just going to do it, and worry about the Whys later. "

She nodded, shrugging. " To each his own. "

I bit my lip," Why? Jules, do you think I'm making a mistake?"

Her eyes widened, and he shook her head quickly," No! No! That's not what I'm saying! No. You an Kris and perfect together. And you can't keep your hands off of each other..." she winked," No. I was just thinking out loud there. Ignore me" she grinned.

I smiled back but not as enthusiastically.

Are we moving too fast?

Kris POV

I leaned back in the chair in the hallway, waiting on the girls to get out of the bathroom.

" Kris?" I heard Henri ask.

I rolled my head to the left.
" Oui?"

Aury's brother sat next to me, quietly observing his surroundings.

" I don't understand." he started, opening and closing his mouth.

I rose an eyebrow, sitting up.
" What?"

Henri was tall. Taller than me by far. Maybe taller than Staalsy. I don't know.

And as quiet as he was, he intimidated me.
This is her brother.
The only family Aury has.
I can't have him hate me.

" Kris- uhm. You can forgive 'er, for 'er mistakes...'ow?" he asked with a confused face.

I struggled for an answer.
" I forgive her, because I love her, Henri. I love everything about her. I love her for her smile, and her sadness. I love the way she pulls at her hair when she's nervous, and how she has such a quick temper," Henri chuckled, nodding," And I love her big heart, and how she trains her girls, and how strong she is, even though she's been beaten down, and she makes me feel like Incan do anything. I can be better. Do better. And all I want is to lovr her and heal her pain. I hate to see her sad, it makes me sad. It kills me when she cries to herself, when she think I can't see. Truth is, I forgave her the moment I heard her confess. "

Henri hesitated," I never would 'ave imagined 'ow bad it was. I mean, I always knew she was sad, but she 'ad reason to be. She 'ad a rough childhood. But- the drugs? And Guilliame- that bastard-" he choked. I grew uncomfotable.

I can't handle it when other guys cry.

" It's not that I can't forgive 'er," he assured me," I can't forgive myself. I let 'im be aroun' 'er. It's my fault. "

I shook my head," No. It's not. He did it. He knew what he was doing. The asshole did this, not you. "

Henri just sat and I watched him take it in.

He smiled suddenly," I 'ope you know what you're getting into."

I grinned, " I do. And I can't wait. "

He clapped me on the back,"Welcome to the family. "

The door opened and I heard footsteps.

I turned to see Aury wearing a beautiful little white dress, and white heels.

She looked beautiful.

Julia stepped out behind her wearing a purple dress, and the brunette nodded to me.

Henri and I stood.
" You ready?" I asked.

She nodded, taking my hand and we walked ahead of Henri and Jules down the hall toward the Judges office.

" Do you think the boys will be mad they weren't invited?" she asked me.

I laughed," Absolutely. Especially TK. He'll take it personally, but he'll get over it. Don't worry. "

She stopped suddenly and pulled me aside.

" Aury, are you alright? What's wrong?" I panicked, seeing her  paled face and frantic eyes.

" Guys? Everything okay?" Jules called from up the hall.

I nodded," Yeah! Go ahead in! We'll be right there!"

She nodded and I watched them slip in the door.

I turned back to Aury. She looked back up at me.
" What are we doing?" she whispered.

I frowned," What do you mean? Baby, we're getting married. "

She nodded," but why? This came out of nowhere? Why did you ask me tonight? What made you do it?"

Her big blue eyes stared up at me, begging for an answer.

I stumbled on my words," Aury- I, I love you. You're perfect. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. And tonight, hearing that you could have died-"

" You heard that?" she cut me off.

I nodded. " When I heard that it scared me. I can't loose you. I love you so much. So why not now? Why not start the rest of our lives now? I know socially speaking it may be quick, but this is us, not society. Forget what they think. Screw them!" I realized I was yelling by now, and took a deep breath," Tell me, Do you want to marry me? Or do you want to wait?"

She paused, looked down, and   then back up at me," I'm not perfect" she said.

I thought back to why I previously said, and smiled,"Yes you are. "

She furrowed her eyebrows, and I could practically see steam pouring from her ears.
" No Kris! I'm not! I'm stubborn, and needy, and I can me a total bitch, and-"

" And thats exactly why you're perfect. Because you have flaws. It makes you human. It's makes you perfect- to me. " I brushed my hand along her cheek, making her close her eyes and shudder.

It pleased me to see I still made her react like that.
" So?" I asked, hopefully.

She grinned, with watery eyes," Lets do it. Let's go get married. "

I laughed, picking her up in a hug and spinning her around right there in the hall way of the courthouse.

She laughed, pulling away and dragging me by my arm to the Judges office.

I opened the door and we slipped in.

" Well finally. Damn. What took so long? Having a quickie in the bathroom or something? Could that not wait?" Julia droned.

Aury shook her head, ignoring her friend and we watched as a man in black robes walked I the room, smiling.

" Hello. Welcome. Glad to see you. " Judge Robinson greeted, shaking our hands.

Aury's grip on my arm tightened as the Jude stood in front of us, a black bible in his hands.

" Now. Let's begin. " he smiled.

" We are gathered here today, I front of God and these witnesses, to bring together this man and this woman in holy matrimony-"

My mind drifted off as the Judge spoke, and I looked down to Aury, who was intently focused on the judge.

I can't believe I have her.
Now, no matter what happens this season, whether we go to the Stanley playoffs or not, my life is perfect.

And it's all because of her.

Aury's POV

When I woke up, the sun was shining on my face through the curtains, burning my eyes.

I groaned, rolling over.
I opened my eyes to see Kris's bare naked chest exposed, the sheet resting low on his hips, trail of dark hair leading up from the fabric to just below his navel.

I giggled, tracing the line with my finger, my nail following the hair line.

" That tickles" Kris mumbled.

I looked up and crossed my arms as a pillow as I sprawled out on his chest.

" Good Morning. " I spoke.

I went to sit up and whimpered, feeling the pain in between my legs.

He chuckled, pulling himself up to rest on his elbows behind him. " Good morning, Mrs. Letang. Something wrong?" he asked cheekily.

I glared," Yes. You successfully ravaged me last night, dear. I doubt I can walk."

He smirked, sitting up to wrap his arms around me, flipping us over and the sheets slipping off us, revealing my body and his glorious morning wood.

The stamina of a hockey player is to be both feared and worshipped.

I learned that last night.
" You seemed to enjoy the ravishing last night, ma femme." he whispered, kissing down my shoulder.

I giggled," Don't call me woman. It's degrading. "

He pulled back, eyebrow raised," Oh? How about Lover, or Wife? Shall I call you that from now on?  'Here, Wife!', 'cook for me,Wife!'" he joked.

I shoved him. " Stop. "

We shared a soft, passionate kiss and I moaned.

Kris looked over at the clock.
" Merde!" he cursed, rolling out of bed, " I have practice!"

I rolled my eyes, climbing out after him slowly, wincing.

" Will you come with me? " he asked.

I shook my head, sadly.
" No. I can't. I have to drop Henri off at the airport. But I'll be there come game time, don't worry. "

He nodded, pulling on some clothes, running around the room.

I laughed, enjoying the sight of my panicking husband.

Husband.
I have a husband.
I'm someone's wife!

The thought brought a smile to me face as I held put my hand, staring at the beautiful sparkling ring on my hand.

" Kris?" I called to him as he brushed his teeth in the bathroom. " Where did you get this ring? It's so beautiful!" I called.

He spat out the toothpaste and wiped his mouth, coming to sit next to me as he slipped on his shoes.

" It was my grand-mere's. "
He announced.

I gasped, holding the ring closer to inspect it.

" I wish I could have met her...Kris!" i suddenly yelled," Your parents! We have to tell your parents!"

He chuckled," I will. Don't worry. I'll call them after practice. Now, I'm gonna be late. I have to go. "

He leaned down to kiss me quickly.
" See you later, Wife" he grinned, dodging the pillow I tossed at him as he ran out the bedroom door, phone and wallet in hand.

I stared at the door after he left.

I miss him already.
