FIRST DATE

Normal POV

Zack turned his head so that he was looking at Jamie. Well, he was more glaring, than simply looking.

“What do you want?”, Zacky asked harshly.

“Uh…No offense Baker, but I wasn’t talking to you when I said ‘sweetie’ “, Jamie responded, causing his two friends to snicker.

“Very funny. So, answer my question.”, Zack continued.

“Don’t worry, Baker, it has nothing to do with you. Chelsey, come with me, I wanna talk to you…”, Jamie said, looking at Chelsey.

Matt crossed his arms on his chest, and Zack’s jaw clenched.

“No.”, Chelsey responded in an almost inaudible voice.

“You’ve got no choice, babe!”, the teen retorted.

“She gave you her answer, and she’s not interested, so leave her alone.”, Zack told him, a serious expression on his face.

Jamie looked at his two friends, and busted out laughing. “Looks like the little fag is angry.”.
Chelsey felt anger in her stomach when Jamie called Zack like this. She wanted to punch him, but she knew she hadn’t the necessary strength.

Jamie moved closer to Chelsey, and grabbed her jaw with his right hand.

And then everything happened very quickly. Zack moved closer to Jamie, in order to punch him hard in the face. But a hand pushed him away. Zack almost fell on the ground. Brian punched Jamie. The said Jamie was now on the ground, his nose bleeding. And before he could answer something, Brian grabbed him and pushed him against the wall.

“The next time you put a hand on her, I kill you!”, Brian threatened. “Is that clear?”, he asked in an angry tone.
Jamie chuckled a little and rolled his eyes. Brian punched his nose once again. Jamie yelled in pain.
“I said: Is that clear?”, Brian shouted.
Jamie nodded quickly. He looked almost terrified by now. “Come on, dude, I’m sorry okay?”, he said to Brian.
“The hell you are!”, Brian finally replied, throwing Jamie against the lockers. Jamie and his friends suddenly vanished.
Brian looked around him. His friends and Chelsey were looking at him in disbelief, incomprehension and shock.
“What?”, he asked nonchalantly.

“Why the fuck did you do that?”, Zack asked angrily.

Brian looked at him in disbelief. “W-What? You don’t think that guy deserved that?”

Zack rolled his eyes. “That’s not what I mean, moron. All I wanna is that you didn’t have to do it yourself. I had to do it. Not you.”

Brian looked at him and then at Chelsey.

Chelsey was very confused. She didn’t know how to feel about it. Sure she was thankful to Brian for having done what he deserved to Jamie, but she couldn’t understand why Brian was acting like that.

Brian hadn’t responded yet.

“All those troubles for this nerd!”, Johnny complained, leaving his group of friends.

Everybody looked at him frowning, but no one called him back. All the gazes set on Brian once again.
Brian sighed and looked at Chelsey. “I thought you would be happy, or at least thankful. But fuck you all!”, he said, leaving the group to.

“What the…?”, Zacky started, but Chelsey cut him off by placing a finger on his lips.

“Don’t. I’ll deal with him.”, she assured. She pecked his lips, and followed Brian.

Zack couldn’t help but feel jealous. It was ridiculous because there was nothing to be sorry about. She just wanted to understand Brian’s motivations. Maybe that was the fact that she’ll be spending a few minutes alone with Brian that pissed him off.

Matt placed a hand on his shoulder. “Come on, Zee, let’s go in the class. We’ll see them after.”
Zack nodded, and followed Matt and Jimmy in the class.
Their Geography class would start in about 10 minutes.

Brian and Chelsey had Chemistry. Chelsey knew she’ll find Brian in that labo. And she was right. When she entered the labo, Brian was sat alone, in the back of the room.

She took a seat next to him.

“What?”, he asked harshly.

“Before all, thank you.”, she said truthfully.
Brian rolled his eyes. “You’re welcome, Princess.”, he said ironically.
Chelsey sighed. “Can’t you act like a mature guy?”, she said, starting to be annoyed.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”, he answered, shrugging.
“You’ve been acting like a total jerk. I think you need to explain yourself…”, she pointed.
Brian close his eyes a few seconds, then looked at her deeply.
“Did you enjoy it? I mean the kiss.”, he asked.
Chelsey felt embarrassed. First, she was surprised that Brian could ask it so bluntly. But she also didn’t want to answer that question. It was obvious that she hadn’t felt butterflies in her stomach and stuff, but she couldn’t say that it had been totally unpleasant.
“Why does it matter?”, she tried to change the subject.
“You didn’t answer.”, Brian pointed.
“I don’t want to.”, she said.

Brian chuckled. “It does matter because… I found it great. It wasn’t perfect, but I enjoyed being that close to you.”.

Chelsey couldn’t help but feel a bit disgusted. She had to clear things with Brian.

“I always acted like a jerk with you, Chelsey. But yesterday I realized that I was just underestimating you. You’re…an amazing girl and I like being close to you.”.

Chelsey rolled her eyes. “No, Brian. I don’t think you’re lying, to me at least. You’re lying to yourself. You believe that because you only were surprised to see me wearing that kind of dress, and acting a bit more, you know, less strict and everything.”

Brian shook his head. “No, I realized that you were different, that you weren’t like all the slutty girls I met. You’ve got an interesting personality.”

“Don’t speak about personality with me, Brian. You don’t know me… Look, all what you said, it was very nice, but…”

“I like you, Chelsey.”, he cut her off.

“No, you don’t. Or that’s just a temporary thing. Brian, I know that you can be a sweet guy if you let that “bad boy” surface fall down. I think you need some affection from another type of girl than the slutty type. And I can say that you deserve it, cause like I said, you’re not that bad. But I can’t give you that affection, first because I don’t feel that way, and also because…now I have Zacky in my life and I can say that I like him a lot. Sorry if I sound harsh but I don’t want you to make illusions. I hope all I said was clear. I know you’ll find the perfect girl for you, Brian.”

Brian was looking at his feet. “Thank you.”, he said.

Chelsey was surprised. He raised his head, so that he was looking at her. “Thank you for all what you said, that was what I needed to hear.”, he explained.

Chelsey smiled. “Uh…Can we be friends, at least?”, Brian asked hesitantly.
“Of course, Brian.”, she replied immediately.
He grinned and opened his arms for a hug. Chelsey hesitated first, but hugged him back.

The morning passed very quickly. Brian and Chelsey had the same classes.

“I think we could meet the rest of the guys at the cafeteria…”, he proposed and Chelsey nodded.
They started to make their way together to the cafeteria.

Matt, Jimmy, Zack and Johnny were already at the cafeteria.
Johnny looked at Zack and spoke. “Man, I’m sorry to tell you this, but I don’t think that dating Chels-nerd is a great idea.”
Zack glared at him. “Why?”
Johnny sighed. “It’s Chels-nerd that we’re talking about! I’ll hope you’ll realize that she’s annoying as hell.”
It was Matt’s turn to glare at him. “What the fuck is wrong with you? Zack does what he wants with who he wants!”
“You don’t know her, Johnny. You can’t judge her just like this. Well, I don’t know her very well too, but I want to know her. I like her, a lot. I can’t explain that. But I really don’t care about your opinion.” , Zack said to him.
“He’s right, dude.”, Jimmy added. “That’s his choice. Plus you haven’t given a chance to Chelsey. Just wait a few weeks and you’ll see if she that annoying.”
Johnny looked at them, and sighed in defeat. “Okay. You’re all right…”. Matt, and Jimmy clapped their hands, and Zee smiled. “Thanks, dude.”.

Zack turned his head and his eyes went wide when he saw Brian and Chelsey walking in their direction. Brian and her were talking and laughing.
Zack couldn’t help but feel a bit jealous. He was in doubt too. What if Brian had managed to make Chelsey change her mind? He clenched his fists on anger.

Chelsey may have noticed Zack’s gaze, because she gave an apologetic look to Brian, and ran toward Zack. She sat on his lap, and passed her arms around his neck.
Everyone looked at her in disbelief. Even Zack was a bit shocked. Chelsey had always been pretty shy, so it was strange to see her act like that.

“Everything’s okay”, she whispered in Zack’s ear. She pulled away to look at him in the eyes. Zack grinned like an idiot, and they looked at each other for what felt like years.

“OKAY ZEE YOU CAN KISS HER RIGHT NOW!”, Jimmy shouted, causing the guys to laugh, and Chelsey to blush deeply.
Zack didn’t want to embarrass her more, so he placed a soft kiss on her cheek, and she smiled.

Brian took a seat between Zack and Matt. There was one seat left: between Zack and Johnny.
Chelsey hesitated. She looked at Johnny. Maybe it was childish, but she didn’t want to sit next to him, because he’s been acting like an asshole toward her.
Johnny noticed Chelsey’s worried look and chuckled. “Come on, Chels, I don’t bite. You can sit down here.”, he proposed, smiling at her.
Chelsey looked at him wide-eyed and then at Zack. The raven-haired teen winked at her, so Chelsey took the last seat.
She looked at Brian, who gave her a high five. She giggled.

“So”, Jimmy started. “If you two decide to have some babies I want them to call me Uncle Jim, okay?”

Everyone busted out laughing.
Chelsey was happy. Now she won’t be afraid anymore to come at school. It was weird to say that because she would never have imagined that those guys who used to make fun of her would be the ones to bring all that happiness in her life.

Destiny was a strange thing, she guessed.
Anyway, she was ready not to let all of this go. She smiled in satisfaction.
She was convinced that things between her and Zack would work pretty well.
