The Future is Now

The next morning i got up and texted Zack and asked him to pick up the twins and take them to school and also bring them home. He texted back saying of course my dear and a smiley face, idiot. I got them ready for school and he came and got them a little while later. I spent the day with Rian, he was all alone at home so we decided to hangout. While we were talking on the front porch the mailman came and handed me a couple envelopes, i thanked him and looked through it. Bill, Bill, a letter to Sophie from her mom. I was a little confused by it but left it alone, its her mail. Later that night while Rian and me were coloring with the twins Sophie came home.

"Hey guys" Sophie said

"Hi" i said

"Whats going on?" she asked sitting on the floor with us

"Coloring" Casey said and Sophie ran her hair through Caseys hair

"Your mom sent you a letter" i said

"Seriously?" she said confused

"I had the same reaction, if she needs to tell us somthing or give us somthing she does it in person or over the phone or whatever. Its weird" i said

"Totally, wheres the letter?" she asked

"Rians sitting on it" i said and she reached over and pulled on it and got it

"You just stick your hands anywhere huh?" Rian said and we all laughed and Sophie rolled her eyes

"Okay lets see whats going on, hey Sophie ive been needing to tell you somthing for a while but havnt found a way to, blah blah blah...you have..." she said opening the letter and reading it outloud and then trailed off to reading to herself

"What is it mama?" Micah said

"Uhmm...I'll be back. Gotta call my mom" she said getting up and pulled out her phone and ran to our room

"Follow her dude" Rian said

I got up and went down the hall, Sophie was sitting on our bed and when she saw me she got up and slammed the door shut. Weird. I went back to everyone and continued with the coloring. A few minutes later she appeared in the doorway, she looked a little overwhelmed. It was freaking me out.

"Everything alright?" i asked helping Micah draw a tree

"I need to see you in the bedroom...alone" she said and walked away and i got up and followed and once i was in our room she closed the door and pulled me to the bed

"Are you trying to seduce me?, this is not the time" i laughed

"This isnt funny Alex" she said serious

"Okay sorry, so whats going on?" i said

"My mom got a call a few days ago from some guy named Chris, apparently. Hes my brother" she said and i felt my heart jump

"What?!" i said shocked

"Mhmm" she said

"What but how? i said

"Well i guess my mom got pregnant like at the age of 19 and wasnt ready to raise a baby. She gave him up and he found her, pretty scary. Huh?" she said

"Totally" i said

"She wants us all to come over tommarow to meet him" she said

"Do you wanna?" i asked

"Yeah i do" she said

"Then its settled, we are" i said

"Better go tell the kids, and Rian" she said and i nodded

---The next day---

The day was pretty slow, i was nervous about meeting Chris and i know Sophie was as well. The twins think its exciting that they have a biological uncle, their young though and dont fully understand the situation. At around 6:30 we headed to Sophies moms apartment. After driving for a bit we finally got there, we walked to her door and i knocked. Sophie looked so nervous.

"Relax baby" i said

"I cant. What if hes a dick, what if he has a family thats just horrible. All these thoughts are to much" she said

"Im sure hes nice" i said and Sophies mom opened the door

"Hey guys, im glad you came" her mom said

"We are to" i said and she let us in and we put the twins down

"Follow me" she said and we followed her to the kitchen where we saw a guy a few years older then us and a pregnant woman. Sophie squeezed my hand so hard

"Oww Sophie, thats my guitar playing hand" i said pulling away

"Sorry" she said

"Sophie, Alex, Micah, Casey. This is Chris and his wife Briann. Chris and Briann this is Sophie, Alex, Micah and Casey" Sophies mom said

"Hey" they said

"Hi" we said

"Should we sit and get to no one another?" Sophies mom said

"Sure" Sophie said and we all sat down

We all started talking and it was very awkward at first. We learned that Chris works at a record company and Briann is a teacher. After a while Sophie stopped being so nervous, she actually got along very well with Chris. After a while Chris started talking to me.

"So Sophie what do you do for a living?. We never asked" Chris said

"Im a nurse" Sophie said

"Nice. What about you Alex" he said

"Lead singer of a band" i said

"No way!. Which one" he said

"All Time Low" i said

"I think ive heard a few of your songs" Briann said

"I might have, name sounds familiar. Name some songs i might know" Chris said

"Uhmm...Time bomb, Weightless, Coffee shop soundtrack" i said

"Ive heard Time bomb!, its awesome. Your voice is good" Briann said

"Thanks" i said

"I think i have to, either way thats really awesome!" Chris said

"Yeah" i said

"So Briann, how many months pregnant are you?" Sophie asked

"About 6 months" Briann said

"Nice, are you excited?" Sophie asked

"Deffinetly" Briann said

"Word of advice, when the nurse says look heres the babys head. Dont look. I almost passed out" i said to Chris and we both laughed

"I wont" Chris said

"Good" i said

"You guys need to come over this weekend and meet everyone!, like our cousins and Alex's bandmates and stuff" Sophie said to Chris

"That'd be awesome" Chris said

We exchanged numbers and adresses with Chris and Briann and told them to come over saturday around 3. I was happy Sophie liked Chris, he was so awesome and it'd suck if she hated him. We left later around 8:30 because the twins were tired. When we got home i took the twin to bed and went back down to the livingroom, Sophie had a cup in her hand and was sitting on the couch.

"Hey babe " i said

"Hey, are they sleeping?" she asked

"Out cold" i said

"Good" she said

"Mhmm so whats in the cup, coffee?" i asked

"Wine, tonights been a little crazy. Want some" she said

"No alcohol for me tonight" i said

"Whatever" she said

"Yeah, so whats your feelings on Chris?" i said

"Hes a good guy" she said

"Im glad you think so" i said

"Yeah i just hope everyone else likes him" she said and i nodded
