Landslide Brought Me Down

Talking

Frank and Gerard were sat together in the comfortable booth at Pizza Hut, taking small bites from the crusts of the well-eaten pizza. Gerard had his arm wrapped around Frank's shoulder comfortingly as Frank leaned into his embrace. The couple were quiet but Frank broke the silence with a small cough to get his husband's attention.

Gerard looked down at Frank, a small smile gracing his lips as he stared into the startling hazel green eyes of his partner. “Yes?”

“Gee...could you tell me about...how we met?” Frank asked timidly, afraid of hurting Gerard's feelings for forgetting how they actually met.

“Sure baby.” Gerard answered, kissing Frank's head. “But do you want to go home first? I'd rather not tell you when we have cold pizza crusts in front of us.” Gerard joked and Frank nodded happily, taking Gerard's hand in his and following him out of the booth, paying the person behind the counter before walking out casually to Gerard's car.

The ride home was a comfortable silence, where they didn't want to ruin the calming atmosphere surrounding them. Going up to the apartment was quiet too, but it gave Frank a bit of time to think about any questions he wanted to ask Gerard during his explanation.

When Gerard opened the door to the apartment, Frank followed him through to the bedroom where Gerard sat against the headboard and motioned Frank to sit on his lap. Frank complied gladly and excitement and nerves bubbling in his chest. He couldn't help but feel guilty for making Gerard explain to him how they met. It wasn't fair on him when he had already lived it once, well technically Frank had too but, he couldn't remember. This whole memory loss thing was all becoming too much for Frank.

“OK, where to start?” Gerard asked himself. Frank waited patiently.

“Oh yeah, well I was coming home from art college in a really pissy mood because I had an argument with my mom over the phone, so I pretty much got angry at anything. Anyway, I remember walking into the house, soaked to the skin because of the rain and seeing you sat on the couch with Mikey. I walked right in front of you both and said to Mikey 'What the fuck are you doing bringing strangers into the house when I've just got home from college. I would at least like a 'hello' or 'how are you doing?'” or something like that. Mikey just looked at me and I expected him to say something but it was actually you who said something. You stood right in front of me and glared at me harshly. I was slightly intimidated but couldn't help but think how gorgeous you were.” Gerard explained. Frank blushed at the compliment but continued listening.

“You said to me, 'You know, you may be Mikey's brother but you don't have to be such a dick.' Looking back at it, I can't help but laugh at how stubborn you were being. I looked down at you before storming off to my room. I was pretty humiliated. I sulked in there for the rest of the night. You came down later on and we got talking. You actually apologized to me and I did to you too. Despite how we first met, I really enjoyed the rest of the night because we spent practically the whole night talking and getting to know each other.” Gerard finished.

Frank smiled and kissed Gerard's cheek. “Thank you.” He whispered.

“Why are you thanking me?” Gerard asked, confusion evident on his face.

“Because, you're coping so well with all this. I would've expected you to run away by now because you can't cope with repeating yourself of past memories all because I can't fucking remember. Just, thanks for sticking around and coping with me.” Frank said, a small smile on his lips.

Gerard just looked at him and pecked his lips, bringing him closer. “I would never give up on you so easy. No matter how hard things get, I'll always be here to catch you when you fall and for whenever you need me or want me. I love you Frankie.” Gerard whispered.

Frank was going to reply but Gerard just hushed him quietly. “You don't have to say it yet. I just want to tell you how I fell.” He said softly, stroking Frank's hair as he leaned his head on Gerard's shoulder. Frank tried to speak but no words came out. He was getting frustrated now. Why couldn't he just say those 3 little words?
