The Foolish Prince

Chapter Three

He woke up the next day ready for more. This time he
went by the back of the castle. A female servant that knew
him since he was a baby, saw him and ran up to him,

“Don't go!, she said, or else the witch will kill you!”

She was on the brink of tears, as if she had lost a loved
one because of the witch before. The prince didn't care, he
had a feeling in his throat, like a knot, that wouldn't undo
itself until he found the girl.

“To be quite honest, I've beaten the most dangerous
and strongest knights around. I'm not afraid of some
measly old witch.” He said this while walking off and not
bothering for a reply.

He went back to where he was yesterday, but, decided
to go a different way.

“Now, he said aloud, it's getting much louder!” And
he was right, but by the time he was almost there, it was
too dark to even see his own hand.

He camped outside on the ground so he wouldn't have
to go back to the castle, not caring about his father, and
went to sleep listening to the voice.

He woke up to find his favorite hunting dog, Rupert,
licking his face.

“Listen, the dog said, don't go any farther or it'll be too
late. Don't do the same as me.”

The prince couldn't believe his ears. Here, a mutt, was
telling him he shouldn't look for what could be the love of
his life. He got up and yelled,

“I'm not one to listen to a flee bitten mutt, now be off!”

The dog looked at him sadly, and walked away into the
tall the grass.

The prince hopped on his horse and
continued on his trek. And the first thing he encountered
was a large wall of oak trees. He wouldn't have usually
cared, but this was where the voice was loudest. He tried
going around it, but realized that it was a circle. He
immediately got off his horse, and trudged on through the
tall grass to the wall of trees and walked right in.

There, in the middle of the giant circle he saw it, castle tower. It was
long, very long indeed, it seemed to reach the sky. It was
also very slim and covered with strong looking ivy. The
prince didn't seem to notice that there was no door and
only one window. All he cared about was finding the beautiful damsel who must have been trapped in the tower and was being guarded by a troll. He started climbing the
ivy as if he were as light as a feather.

Finally reaching the window, he looked inside and was
horrified at what was in front of him.

A disgusting, rotten smelling, green skinned witch was
stirring a cauldron. She turned around and he thought he
was faced face to face with the Devil himself.

Bite marks from various animal and scratches covered
her oily, mosquito bitten face. Her face, her face itself was
disgusting, she had a nose that reached down to her chin
and no lips, just yellow, practically orange, teeth. They
were pointed as if they were made to eat raw flesh. Her
eyes were black. No pupils, no white part, just black. It
didn't help that her eyes had been unnaturally large and
round. She had no eyelids, so every time she blinked, her
black eyes would roll back. She had no hair, or at least very
little of it, if you could count rat tail looking strands of
hair.

That's whenever he noticed it. The necklace she was
wearing was a short chain, and had a pair of lips onto it.
They were the ones singing the song, not her.

“You, foolish young boy. You did not listen to the ones
you have faith in. You do not know how to trust. For that,
you shall receive a punishment.”

She started chanting an evil sounding curse while
cackling at the look of the prince's face.

“ Blithy's torrs
this young man
not anymore
cKasaraël's judgment
to befall on you
this curse won't undo
until the fair maiden you wish seek
finds you
believes you
and gives you faith.”

And the prince was transported to a strange, strange
land. He had been turned into a frog. He sat on a lily pad
and cried and sobbed until all he could do was croak.

Always trust the ones you love the most.
