Sequel: Seven Days

Just You

Eleven

It was time. I needed to get my stuff from Brent’s house, and that meant going while he was there. This obviously meant I was going to see him, something I really didn’t want to do. But Jensen and Jared were going with me so it wouldn’t be too bad. I hoped, at least.

As I pulled into the driveway, Jensen and I were silent. He understood I needed this time to collect myself, and I was gracious. Jared pulled in behind me in a truck. Whether it was his or borrowed, I didn’t know, but I hadn’t seen it around his house, so I was betting on borrowed. But he could have bought it recently. I haven’t seen him in a while. I made a mental note to ask him when this was over with.

“You ready?” Jensen asked finally.

“As ready as I’ll ever be.” I mumbled and got out of the car. We made our way to the front of the house where Jared joined us, and I hesitated. What do I do? I can’t just walk in, can I? Then I saw Jensen’s arm extend in front of me and ring the doorbell. I gave him a quick smile which he returned.

Then the door opened and there Brent stood, all six foot two of him. Bright blue eyes peeked out of long, brown, curly hair and his full lips curled into a smile. But my breath didn’t hitch at the sight of him, not like it used to. When we were dating, he’d turn a certain way and I’d have to catch my breath. But now, nothing. It wasn’t that his muscles weren’t great to look at, or his eyes weren’t pretty, they were just…not as amazing as I remembered.

“Hi.” He said.

“Hey. Can we come in and get this done?” I asked quickly.

“Uh, sure. I marked everything that was yours with a Post It, but I was going to keep the bed. I didn’t think—”

“I don’t want it.” I said, shaking my head. Why would I want the bed you fucked some whore in?

“And if you see anything else you like, we can talk about it.” He was being awfully cordial.

“Alright.” I didn’t say what I was thinking, that I didn’t want anything he picked out. Everything was going smoothly, why would I mess it up? I looked to Jensen and Jared, Jensen nodded and Jared did a weird sweeping motion with his hands that made me smile.

Let’s get to this.

By the time we got everything into the apartment, it was looking halfway decent. I had a couch, a chair, a pretty nice entertainment center complete with TV and DVD/Blu-Ray player, all of my movies along with a shelf for the hundred or so cases. In the bedroom, I had already bought a king size bed, and I brought my dresser and matching full-sized mirror I inherited from my grandparents, and a bookshelf with my books. The kitchen was still a bit bare, but I had a few pots and pans, a pretty good knife set, plates, cups, and silverware. There was still a lot I had to go shopping for, but it was a good start.

“So, beer and pizza? The staple move-in food?” I asked the guys as they collapsed on the couch. They were nice enough to not let me do any of the heavy lifting.

“As long as I don’t have to go get it.” Jared said.

“Hear hear!” Jensen yelled and I laughed.

“I’ll go order the pizza.” I pulled out three beers from the refrigerator, gave one to each while keeping one for myself, and ordered the pizza.

“So are you sleeping in tomorrow?” Jared asked me after I hung up the phone.

“Mikayla and I are going shopping. I was thinking of inviting Danneel. Do you think she’d want to go?” I asked Jensen.

“Maybe.” He shrugged.

“She has better taste than I do. Yeah, I’ll ask her.” I nodded and popped open my beer.

“I think she’ll like that.” He smiled and I returned it.

“So, toast.” Jared said, holding up his beer. “Here’s to you and your new apartment, Angel.”

“No, here’s to the best friends a girl can have.”
